So true lol I found the combat pretty lame in the sequel tbh. Loved the presentation and survival horror style of the game but yeah, the first game was a lot more fast paced. There was a nice balance between dodging, shining the flashlight and tapping the revolver’s trigger as fast as possible as soon as the darkness shield went down. Extremely satisfying Shining the flashlight in 2 felt like such a pain despite it being faster and automatically latch on to the enemies.

Yes, he did. The shine meter was already hit. If the enemy wasn't lit, you'd still see the circle of light enclosing. I'm pretty sure he's just playing on nightmare mode in the first clip.

@@Maximus20778even that, a lot of reliable tech outlets say that for how heavy it is, it runs really well on PC. Only hiccups I have really seen is console quality mode. PC typically does better than the reqs list. Biggest downside is the lack of support for mesh shaders, which imo AMD should have implemented sooner. NVidia started with the 20 series, AMD waited to the 5000 series if im not wrong.

Alan Wake 1 is an excellent game, so why do people make these videos? Not every developer is making CoD and saying "screw the old games kids, new and improved aim system with gun power plus 420 is ALL YOU NEED." I'd suggest playing the first one as it gives you a good background on Wake's character and motivations.

I feel like the words of power were too easy imo compared to how often you get upgrades for Saga. Would recommend a guide, there is quite a lot of them. That said, at least on normal, the upgrades aren’t too necessary unless you are using a crossbow.
Id say try and dodge a bit later than you think you should. That was the problem for me, that I was always dodging too early, and get hit after. And I don’t think you can dodge through projectiles like thrown axes, you gotta dodge to the side out of the way.
I thought the combat was a lot more fun in the first one actually and I didn't care for the enemies variety on the Alan wake sections of the second game

I miss the fact that in the first game you didn't need to focus your flashlight to take out the darkness, it took longer but you could totally save some batteries albeit with the risk of getting swarmed.
The biggest little change between Alan wake 1 and 2.... Is that Alan got in shape, when he first got to Bright falls he could only keep up a rapid jog for like 2 seconds and look at him now , Im sure he could finish a lap going all the way around cauldron lake. Yeah the Taken have gotten a lot more menacing, but my guy has truly evolved as well.
The fact Alan is a writer and in canon admits to having never shot a gun outside a firing range gives a lot of accidental depth to the lackluster combat of the first game. Him going John Wick on The Taken in the Dark Place in the sequel makes soooo much sense canon wise. After such a long time fighting them he had to learn how to fight and survive using as many tools at his disposal as he could

I miss the fact that in the first game you didn't need to focus your flashlight to take out the darkness, it took longer but you could totally save some batteries albeit with the risk of getting swarmed.

Back in its day I thought the combat in Alan Wake was really good and satisfying, I loved the controls of using the torch with the gun.

The biggest little change between Alan wake 1 and 2.... Is that Alan got in shape, when he first got to Bright falls he could only keep up a rapid jog for like 2 seconds and look at him now , Im sure he could finish a lap going all the way around cauldron lake. Yeah the Taken have gotten a lot more menacing, but my guy has truly evolved as well.

The fact Alan is a writer and in canon admits to having never shot a gun outside a firing range gives a lot of accidental depth to the lackluster combat of the first game. Him going John Wick on The Taken in the Dark Place in the sequel makes soooo much sense canon wise. After such a long time fighting them he had to learn how to fight and survive using as many tools at his disposal as he could
He did the original dirty! I haven't played Alan Wake 2 yet, but Alan Wake's combat is much better than represented!
