My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ TH-cam. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of TH-cam I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on TH-cam won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different

Bruh...a lot of us were THERE when songs like this dropped. We didn't discover it...we listen to it on the regular. This is why there's so many older people who don't FUQ with today's music, and no offense meant to those who love it.

@@Frostrazor - Being from the outskirts of Philly and even parts of South Jersey, you can't help but be exposed to Soul music. Whether or not you're influenced by it is another matter, but the, "Sound of Philadelphia," will forever be my favorite. Daryl Hall actually got a lot of work as a teen, playing sessions as a keyboardist/backup singer for Gamble & Huff; architects of the Sound of Philadelphia, and later Thom Bell.) Those producers were to Philly Soul what Barry Gordy was to Motown.
I wasn't alive during the Civil Rights movement (I'm 46,) but up until then, Soul music was allegedly a VERY integrated sound...no difference between Black and White artists. With the Civil Rights uprise, Whites were pretty much uninvited...that's when Daryl Hall and John Oates become more Folk and Rock, but kept those soulful underpinnings. They refer to their music as Rock & Soul and Daryl detests the, "Blue-eyed Soul," label.
I was going to ask if this was a Righteous Brothers situation where nobody had any idea they were white.

FACTS!!!! Yeah i was gonna say same. These songs didn't just fall out of they sky and I guarantee we weren't up late at night researching the internet for a song that was worthy of your channel. These played on our radio stations, they were part of the regular rotation. We bought records (you know - vinyl) or cassette tapes and listened over and over until it wore out and we had to buy another copy.
And what a joy to see the younger folks discovering it.
Soo true I was born in 76 but I grew up listening to them and still I luv them soo much and ive heard many remakes of this but NO ONE is as good as Hall N Oats
I was born in 1961 so as a black man experiencing music of the '60s, '70s and '80s first hand, we got seriously spoiled! But it's great to see the younger generation appreciating the great music of these artists! You're keeping their art alive!!

I also was born in 1961. All of my kids, nephews and nieces grew up listening to these types of songs with me. They all still appreciate these songs and will pass them on....

She's Gone has that passionate raw emotion going on, but Sara Smile is just simple and beautiful. Love them both.
Daryl Hall and Sara Allen although never married had a personal relationship that would end up lasting more than 30 years. Hall was inspired enough by his feelings for Allen that he wrote the highly personal song.
"It was a song that came completely out of my heart. I’ve said this many times - it was a postcard. It’s short and sweet and to the point,” said Hall.
That’s why that line, If you feel like leaving, you know you can go, but why don’t you stay until tomorrow, is so perfect. They never got married but stayed until tomorrow for 30 years!

I was born in the 80s, but even I remember that sound as "sound of sunday".
That's when the radio ran all day long and the whole family was at home. To this day, it reminds me of warm weather and sunshine.
Oh yeah, record stores. I used to have to walk down town to buy a record and then walk all the way back home to listen to it.

You should check out Ambrosia “How much I feel” or “Biggest part of me”. One of the most underrated groups in my opinion.

This was the earliest I remember the songs when they were on the charts. I was 4 years old when this was out, but man I remember hearing this when it was fresh! It never gets old. Amazing tune!

I didn't really "discover" Hall and Oates they were just what was on the radio when I was growing up in the 70's and 80's. Kind of like Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles.

This song came out in 1975, and decade after decade, it just grooves me like it just came out. Not only is it my favorite Hall and Oates song, but one of my favorite songs, period.

It was in the air, in the grass, on top of the fridge. Man, it was on the transistor radios in our pockets, on the kitchen table, oh! on the big High Fidelity (HiFi) in the living room. It was in our hearts and in our souls. It was strewn around all over like Easter candy. We breathed it.
I'm 68 years old and I don't remember not having a radio nearby and turned on from about the age of seven. I still listen to 'easy listening music' from the 50's, 60's, 70's, and even some from the 80's and 90's to this day.

You might want to try one of the few cover songs that they did, and there aren't many. But their version of "You lost that loving feeling" is worth listening to.
AM and FM radio played this stuff 24/7. It was the soundtrack to our lives . We took it for granted. Wonderful.
About once every 3 years, my daughter and I get a chance to to a bar and have a girls night out. They have to have karaoke, and they have to have this song. My daughter is the only one beside Daryl Hall that can sing it and do it justice. It is her gift to me to hear her sing it.

I remember the street I was driving down in my mom's car when I first heard this song on the radio. I'll never forget it, obviously I haven't forgotten. It was something I hadn't heard that moved me like Bill Withers "Ain't No Sunshine." so so good.
