I was playing this CD and this song in my car years ago and pulled into a parking space to go grocery shopping. This song was playing when a young dude in the car parked next to me rolled down his window and asked me who was singing? I told him it was Hall and Oates and he said I need to buy it today...... He didn’t have to buy it because I gave it to him. He said thank you Ma’am! I told him, you’re welcome and I’m sure you’ll play it over and over. That made me very happy that day because I knew he would become a fan of Hall and Oates greatness!

Recording technology was so different then, you had to be a good musician. You couldn't just punch in and correct mistakes. All the Motown hits were recorded on FOUR tracks with a series of mixers.
improvements in technology allowed for lesser musicians to start recording. Then the video age came and what sold records was how people looked over how they sounded.

So, in the past 10 years or so, Darryl Hall did a series called "Live At Darryl's House" where he has a group of the best musicians he can find, and every episode he invites some other musician to sit in and jam for a day. The series is straight FIRE. You can pick any song from any episode and it's AMAZING. If you want to hear more from Darryl Hall, you really should check it out.

They are so versatile. Their influences are rooted mostly in OG Philly Soul, but that's not the "lane" they're stuck in. For more of their "Philly" sound, "Sara Smile", "One On One"; for more of the pop-dominant, "Maneater"-style grooves, you want songs like "Out Of Touch", "You Make My Dreams", "Kiss On My List", "Private Eyes, "Family Man", "Did It In A Minute'...this is a rabbit hole that it's truly a pleasure to fall into.

This, and Sara Smile are still my favorites by them. That great Philly sound...

I’m a lifelong fan of Hall and Oates. Seen them 3 times in concert!! So happy you’ve discovered them!! Their songs are all so different, but the “Blue-Eyed Soul” ones are the best..like this one. If you get a chance, listen to their (the original) version of “Every Time You Go Away.” Paul Young had a hit with it, but he doesn’t even come close to their version. ❤️💋
