      There's a properly 'hippy' early Pink Floyd vibe to this channel, which as an ancient 65-year old child of the 60s/70s I absolutely love! 👍✌️✌️😎

    Just seen my In-laws' wedding photo on the wall at Middleport Pottery. And the person on the video wall talking in the bedroom is my wife! She used to work at middleport pottery whist she was at college and her mum worked there full time. They lived just round the corner - Its a great place - shame about the weather - typical of Stoke. Really enjoy the videos - keep up with the good work

    Be thankful you had an engine - they used to ‘leg it’ through the there previously, and it took about 3hrs!!
    Maybe when you finally get the boat out of the water for a paint you can put storage lockers in the back so you don’t have to put so much on top of the boat.

    One of our neighbors growing up owned a pottery shop and I worked for them for a time in my teens pouring ceramics. I'd pour the slip (liquid ceramic) into the molds, let the molds absorb the water from the slip, keep the molds topped off as the slip dried, pour out the excess slip once it reached the desired thickness on the inside of the molds, let the ceramic (called greenware at this point) dry for a while inside the mold, then open the molds, remove the greenware, clean the molds, and put the molds back in storage. Some greenware came in two pieces and I would attach the pieces together, like a cup handle onto a cup, using a bit of slip as a kind of cement. They had electric kilns for customers to use after they bought, painted, and glazed their greenware into ceramics. Very messy, laborious work.

    Good boating skills parking up right next to the pub! I like looking at other peoples gardens as you sail past, some great ideas. I have a canal at the bottom of my garden that is in the process of being re-opened and I'm getting lots of ideas for my decking/mooring. I quite fancy a goat or a cow!
    Maybe see you two cruising past when it eventually joins the rest of the canal system. 👋👋
    Oh, and also, try not to stand on top of your engine. The injector pipes run across the top of it, they are quite easy to break/cause to leak, and an absolute pain to fix.

      @@BenandEmily Right? Such a cool thing! Especially when you add the thrusters on the sides, so mooring, or just boarding is also a breeze. Never have to mind gaps, after a couple beers. Huge fan here, as you can tell! 😄

    • @DetroitMicroSound
      @DetroitMicroSound ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xerox8080 Exactly. I forget her name, but I know just who you mean. She runs the boat entirely alone. There are systems available. Or, if you're smart, and resourceful, and let's be honest, a bit nerdy, you can make your own system. (Or talk to James Bruton here on TH-cam. He would probably design a great system, that would be very cost-effective, and mostly 3-D printed. He has an entire farm of printers, and prints large parts, and small. He would do it just for a challenge, fun, and great content for his own channel) I've even seen people home-build electric boats navigated on autopilot by satellite, on open waters. Set a bunch of waypoints, and the boat does the rest. I wouldn't try any of that on canals, but thrusters placed strategically, and a fully remote control capable system, would just be amazing.

    Your vlog is my "chill out" video. Thanks so much! Loved seeing the 1950's again, and the house. Ours was an old log house, with the "dog trot" enclosed. Low ceilings helped keep it warm. Logs were over a foot thick, covered with drywall and wallpaper. I was actually born in that house and it was heated with coal and wood, and sometimes it got really hot. We had a cistern for water and no electricity until 1953, when my grandmother bought a wringer washer, range, appliances, a refrigerator, a Hoover, and all sorts of new things. I create paintings from memory, observations and imagination. II really loved that house the most.

      Our whole family used to sit around the "wireless" listening to the Goons for our weekly laugh. It was re-broadcast in Australia 🇦🇺 by the ABC, having some arrangement with the BBC either via land-line or special recordings (during the 1950's technology was a bit limited, but we always got our belly laughs 😅). Greetings from a grateful old listener.

    Love all your adventures, my only connection to a canal, is the Forth and Clyde where I fish in Scotland.

    With the current weather here in the UK I could eat veggie sausages, mash, peas and gravy every dinner time. Dinner of champions.
