This video is about my Dad. He had a long career in the military and then had two additional careers. He died in 2012 at the age of 90. He was in great health and had a sharp mind until the day he died. The Army produced some incredible men! He was loved!

First Sergeants are the true backbone of the Army. This one appears to be nothing less. His men were lucky to have him.

Good old fashion Army at its best. Times and traditions were different then even better than today in ways of caliber of the lifers who taught good things that mattered from long yrs learning and passing them on to the new soldiers. I had a company sgt. Who was a career lifer and I will never forget that man and what he lived and stood for. I consider myself fortunate to have know him.

I see that this was before the authorization of E-8 and E-9 in 1959...and that not a lot has changed in a First Sergeant's duties. The Signal Corps/USAAVC did a good job on this one in telling the Army's side.

23:30 - Lol, I love how these infantrymen are storming the hilltop at the pace of a nonchalant, casual stroll, sure adds realism to the exercises. ;-D

I think it was arranged for filming. A lot of old films are like that. They're idealized representations rather than hard reality.

Before the Berlin Airlift, so I never knew we shared guard duty with the USSR military. So it wasn't yet divided up to East - West yet?

They shared guard duty with Soviet troops at the Spandau Prison where the Nazi war criminals were kept. I think Albert Speer was the last inmate there was released in the early 70's, I think. The prison closed after that.

Ive always wondered if movies like this were propaganda or we were really that squared away at some point. I grew up glued to the army. Found it a big disappointment when I was old enough to join. Turned out to be more of a shit show than I expected.

This video was filmed after July 26, 1948, when President Harry Truman signed Executive Order 9981, creating the President's Committee on Equality of Treatment and Opportunity in the Armed Services. The order mandated the desegregation of the U.S. military. Sounds like social programming to me. Also CRT is only taught in law schools in the USA, so stop the fear-mongering.

You don't realize this is exactly what they were doing with these films...using the military to reprogram. None of this stuff is new buddy. Yes, I like these films. They are still marketing campaigns with an intended perspective to push.

I have to disagree with the narration, Msgt Queen said of the American military “the greatest fighting team in the world” if the definition of “greatest” is the “largest” then, at the time of this film, then that might be true, I am not sure and I don’t really feel like Googling the answer, but, if it meant, and I strongly suggest that is how it should be defined, as the “best” I really can’t agree, and yes I know this is propaganda film aimed at the American civilian population, as I believe that the only way to tell who is the “greatest” is by combat, something that we all hope doesn’t happen, and as was said in the film “The Dirty Dozen” “their very pretty, but can they fight”, a very true analogy, every military force, from any country, would and does, believe their military is the greatest on earth, but as most men would say “it’s not what you’ve got, it’s how you use it that counts”. Every military formation has different, but equally valid, ways of doing things, so again, no comparison possible unless they are in combat, I don’t believe in throwing men into combat like “cannon fodder”, sometimes the small specialist unit can achieve what a whole battalion couldn’t, so, no comparison would be valid.
Thanks for sharing this interesting and informative documentary, and entertaining, I enjoyed comparing the United States military with my own countries military. 😀👍🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
