Hey Marisa! I saw that you use rendered tallow in many of your recipes. Have you ever tried using it in deodorant? What do you think of that? Those ingredients aren't available where I live so I wanna try the classic recipe: coconut oil + soda + starch. But it's hot here and coconut oil is liquid at room temperature, so I'm thinking of adding some tallow (that I rendered using your technique -- it's so nice and white!)

I have been using a cream deodorant for the past 5-6 months that is baking soda free, and it's been very effective. I'm almost out of my cream and thought I'd give the stick kind a try now. I love the sound of this recipe, except for the baking soda. I make the magnesium cream from one of your other videos, and I can say that it works great for when I have restless legs times. It's amazing! Thank you for sharing!

I’ve tried the three ingredient (coconut oil, arrowroot, baking soda) recipe and my husband broke out in a rash. I tried this recipe and he loves it! Definitely has to do with the amount of all the other ingredients vs the low amount of baking soda.
Thank you so much for your great recipes. I've been making your tallow face cream for a few years now and I'm loving it. I want to make deodorant sticks too. I can't find arrowroot where i live. Is it ok to substitute it with corn starch? Or arrowroot does have special properties ? I could buy it online. Thanks 😊
Hi Marisa your deodorant is divine and works great for me. But my daughter did develops a rash under her armpits due to the deodorant. I read that baking soda can cause skin irritation. What would you recommend to use instead of backing soda?
Baking soda can be irritating to the skin. Have you tried replacing it with clay? I’ve used Moroccan red clay and it worked well. Other clays work well also. Your thoughts ?
Some people do have that issue, and I have been wanting to try to design a recipe that doesn't use baking soda. That's a great idea about the clay! I will start experimenting with it. Thank you for the idea!
@@bumblebeeapothecary That would be AMAZING if you could create a great deodorant recipe without the use of baking soda. I developed an intense adverse reaction to baking soda and haven't found a good substitute that provides odor neutralization. You can smell me a mile away 🙄

Ok thanks. Can I substitute the coconut oil for almond oil? What benefit does the olive oil have in deodorant? Can i put less baking soda, because I’m sensitive to it?
I'm not sure if almond oil would work. It might, since coconut oil would be liquid in the heat anyway. You'd just have to try it! The olive oil is just to act as a liquid oil (to get the consistency just right) and it has moisturizing properties. You could definitely substitute that for any other liquid oil. You can absolutely put in less baking soda. I would just replace it with arrowroot powder to keep the consistency the same. Hope that helps! 😊
Reason i am asking is because i recently checked out there website and dont like what they are supporting. Can you recommend another company other than DoTerra?
Hi,great video. Thanks for the tip on the kind of wax,i use beeswax but i'll order the other wax to test i because the deodorant stains my clothes even if i just dap it on my armpits. Do you have that problem? because i want to stop making it. And another big question, will this deodorant melt in hot climates? because i live in the caribbean so coconut oil is always liquid here.it's always summer here.
Thanks so much! I haven't had that problem with this recipe. Sometimes the arrowroot will leave white marks on clothes (like if I put on a dark colored shirt after putting on deodorant) but I avoid this by putting on the shirt first, and then the deodorant. I think that candelilla wax stays firmer at the same temperature than beeswax, so that helps with the consistency and avoids the oiliness. I live in Colorado and it gets pretty hot here in the summer (liquid coconut oil all summer!) And this deodorant recipe stays nice and solid even in hot temps. So, I would guess it would still work well where you are. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!
