I love how obvious the change in Skull Face's voice there is between Ground Zeroes an Phantom Pain. Ground Zeroes: Gritted teeth, hiss like anger. Phantom Pain: "Mmmm, mmyesss, I am a complete master manipulatorrrrrrrrr."
Zak Ras my theory on that is they made his voice a bit more deep and guttural for phantom pain because of radiation treatment he supposedly underwent to counter his vocal cord parasite therapies going wrong.
The amount of world building in this tape alone is insane...!!! They definitely found an answer to the "too many cutscene" critics, and made something with serious depth for people that wanted it. I'd love some illustrated cutscenes, but this here top notch stuff!
@@Mrx.123 Yeah, I understand that and it was what made me love the guys work since msg1. But the cutscenes would hand everything in a plate to people, and I think the intent (besides it being a way to respond to the complaints about extensive cutscenes) was to make people dig deep to find different interpretations of the truth, it's much deeper than a simple "show and tell". That said, to me it just asked for too much player effort... but it was brilliant though :)
So in the end Zero's downfall was his own paranoia. He could not even trust Darpa Chief nor Dr. Clark so in the end when shit hit the fan there was no one there to back him up. The man was completely alone.
Very true but I’d word it as his inability to trust almost anyone on top of his failure in choosing who to trust when he did trust people (Paz failed him horribly, XO killed him, Ocelot didn’t understand the boss at all, etc.)
Gerard Landry in all honesty, I don’t know. Maybe after the battle at the end of peace walker she came to her senses and realized what she done wrong, maybe she secretly got emotionally attached to big boss and msf after her stay there, or maybe she never bought into the whole cipher stuff but secretly wanted to get out of it all (however the Paz tapes say other wise). No clear answer. But whatever the reason, it doesn’t excuse her actions of attempting to annihilate millions of people in the east coast of the USA. You don’t just do that kinda stuff by off chance, so yeah she deserves to die in it all.
Is there any way you could upload the conversation between Skull Face and Code Talker clean? I love that tape(its skull faces objective 4 I believe), but the background rotor noise can be distracting
So I checked and it’s probably a reference to the United States’ 702nd Air Force Squadron that participated in major bombing campaigns in Europe during WWII. Zero was in the British equivalent called the Special Air Service so it lines up.
I like how Skull Face says that he doesn't hate Big Boss, but that it's just part of the plan in order to to take revenge upon Zero.

Possibly. Plenty of things can happen in 9 years
He is excited and anger man, he is about to discover where is his target, the responsible of all his lost.
Whooooooooooooo?!
“Will tou kill zero for me?”
“Not for you”
So badass

I just love the tapes cause i feel like Gene Hackman in “The conversation” film
i prefer the cut scenes this game would be so better if this tapes records were cut scenes

Shame the rest of the game didn't follow along these lines.. like the whole sitting in the jeep thing, wtf were they thinking?
Tbh I think the black screen and the deep uncovering conversations are pretty badass

Like Ocelot said; if Zero had kept more company he'd probably had been saved.
Ocelot is a smart guy

the only guy he left hiding for was Big Boss. I wish he came to his senses sooner and communicated with people before it was too late.
Can you imagine Skull Face walking on the streets of Hell's Kitchen holding a little box? The thought always made me laugh.
Probably wears a prosthetic mask like the Raikov one Big Boss had in MGS3
He probably blackmailed a Cipher agent who frequently goes into the building
@@mercury2157he said he never does out of principle. As a reminder
7:35. "give her the shot already" MILLER!
Woah wtf???
Even Miller hated his job right then.
That's not him. That's Crispin Freeman
7:01 his diction is awesome :)
dicktion :D
They rarely show new York in MGS but goddamn its just always there
God bless you and your standards
Skull face is big boss. Listen to his tapes with this in mind.
God dammit! Why Paz? Why? She did not deserve this.
She kinda did
LudicrousKid and all because of those damn Patriots! However I agree with the first part. She did not deserve to get raped.
LudicrousKid then how come she said "let Big Boss live" and why did she ask if Skull Face would kill Zero?

LudicrousKid that is true. I think that there's a whole diary of her life somewhere in this game.
paz 😢

hm true, that tape is actually good.
I'll be your best friend and give you a cookie if you do ;D
Why did Sskullface say 702 was a shade of world war 2?
probably used as a safe-room in case of nazi attacks
