A very nice car indeed, I had a 1973 ventora auto, the same colour as this one, but mine had rust in the boot ! TYE625M, it was only the second car I'd owned, I was only 17, that was 1983, and petrol was very cheap £20 to fill the tank, the good old days. Well done your car is immaculate.

I had an M-reg exactly the same as the one in the video, but to be honest I preferred the FD Ventora I had before that. I was only 19 when I got it and after a Beetle and two Ford Anglias it was like a different world! I had a turbocharger fitted to it as well :-)

I had an L reg too in gold honeymist, marvelous car and this example is a credit to its owner its a beaut ! apart from the cold start flap getting stuck and burning a hole from the exhaust manifold into the inlet manifold i had no other problems that engine was smooth as silk. yes very happy memories of my younger days, i went from this car to a TR6 buts thats another story.

I owned an FD and FE Ventora. Both manual with overdrive and they were more economical than the 3.0 Granada and Capri autos that I also owned before the Vauxhalls. FD looked better than FE. The FE interior plastic wood and general appearance was no match for the Granada. Ride and handling of the fully independent Granada was far superior but I will always have a soft spot the FD straight Six engine and overall look of the car. Very sleek looking. Performance of the FD and FE was equal to the Granada and Capri. Overall the Granada was far and away technically superior with a more compliant ride and handling and quieter than the live axle Vauxhalls.

Very nice, always admired the FE Ventora (apart from the rust). I like that there is no music or commentary.....

I had the VX490 (TUV 709S) Its hard to imagine today how a 3 year old car could rust away in front of you! that aside, it was an absolute pig ! forever snapping clutch cables, (remember those?) and misfiring, failing to start on a cold morning, and the gearbox was upside down ! apparently it was the standard fitting on the 78 model? also tartan red seats, and door trims complemented this sickly monstrosity, something to gaze at while I waited for the breakdown people to attend. Thank god for modern cars !

I had a 1971 Ventora. I see you mention the clutch cable - it was just the same on my Ventora. I got very good at replacing it. Unfortunately I knackered the gearbox because I was always having to do clutchless gear changes in order to get myself home.

@@oldschoolguy2775 Interesting you should say that ! I've heard a few others say the same, but why do you think it was ? All I can remember was sometimes depressing the clutch, and I'd hear a shallow snap, then when I got home I'd inspect the pedal whete it meets the cable, and there would be two strands left on it ! It would have been a new cable just three weeks ago ! It was a ridiculous idea. Cars of today are just so much better manufactured.

here is some info, the vip model was intended for the navy but after the first order they had many problems with them, Vauxhall then had to shift them to the public, some of the second hand ones will have admirals names on the glovebox nameplate.that said I love the cars

Must be one of very best examples left, you can see the comparisons with a Ford Cortina GXL of the same vintage, but surely this is rarer and some would say more desirable.

I had a white one, it was not very economial especially the way I drove it! The head kept warping so I sold it to someone that jacked the back end up and put a V8 in it. Unlike the 2300cc Vauxhalls I owned the Ventora just didn't rust - seemed to be made of thicker metal and it had a great metal bar across front of engine.

Rebuilt as best it can be....the re-undersealing has been poorly done with aerosol cans.
