  • This is a car project that I drop on when I need a break from the Cortina, I've not made any actual video of this but will be doing on the next upload.

Excellent work Mike. You've inspired me for the work on my VX 490s. Thanks for sharing!

At first sight I thought "What a bloody shame, a straight solid car crashed on purpose for a film." but on top of the crash damage it's a rusty old bus because Vauxhall. Really glad you saw something in it and decided to restore it, they're actually a very nice car (mate's mum used to have a late model estate) and it's good to see one of the few remaining cars being resurrected. Subscribed!

Welcome, I've not posted for a long time due to ongoing eye issues, I have been restoring bits for it as and when I can. The plan is to spend the coming winter months doing the nearside to the same non rusty standard, using the donor panels to ensure it's as Vauxhall built it. There are some nice surprises coming along the way over the next six months so thanks for joining the channel.
      Many thanks.
      Mike.

Amazing project 👌 picking that front end off must have taken you ages, the thr fabrication must have taken that time to another level. 👏 subscribed

Hi and welcome to the project. It did take a few days to unpick the Yellow car but it has to be worth the effort in the end. If it didn't get saved it would have been a great shame so I'm the person who must save it. After next week there will be video uploads fairly regular. I'm quite OK with shaping metal and there's bits I didn't show in this first film, but you will see some things you won't believe. Thank you for watching.

I'm always going to love the Cortina the most but I'm not blinkered by it, I need to save as many classics that come my way as I can. I have more in the stable...Sierra, Morris Minor etc..

Hi Mike, I hope your well, I tried to call, but would not connect, so guess your phone was off, and you were busy working on a car, looking forward to a catch up soon.

Great work Mike, looking forward to more progress on this victor and the 200E.
    Cheers, Jeff.

Thanks Jeff, it's a nice little distraction with lots of original features, the car has done 48,000 miles and two owners from new so I had to save it. What price the loss of it?

Great to see the Victor, I remember years ago when you said you bought it. I did wonder what happened to it. Looking forward to the next vid.

It's been a waiting game but I now have everything I need for the Victor, it's a nice old thing and I don't think there's any left with the bench seat other than this one. It needed to be saved at any cost and it's now a very rare car of its time.

Hi Tony, it's a nice distraction from just doing the Cortina for sure. I'm going to be doing it to use up the salvaged panels asap, the panels are stopping me from getting to the Cortina Crusader I've stashed away!

Thanks Peter, as you can tell, it's been under wraps as I waited for the eye surgery, that is next month and then I should be moving fast on all projects.

WOW !! looks like it wasn't in really good condition for a low mileage car !!!...
My mate sent me pictures from the film set before they damaged it, he had
one of his lorry's in the film, production crew wanted to actually ram it into
his lorry but when he refuse they rammed it with a forklift then placed them
together as thought it had crashed..
Any parts required ?? ask on the VX490 Drivers Club, a friendly bunch who
are always willing to help out !!.. I've got a new inner front panel that I'm
willing to part with !!!.. Want to see this Victor brought back to it's former
glory as I was going to buy it when on E-Bay but sadly too many cars and
not enough space !!!... Watching for your next video Mike....

Hello Neil, welcome along. I'm in the club already but as for parts I think I'm almost there, I have new front panels already and all the parts from the Yellow one. I stripped the Yellow one down completely and scrapped a wheelbarrow full of parts, that's how much I saved. I don't think any Victor is in good shape after so many years as they were poorly built. I'll rebuild it for sure and it will be as good as new again but better built. It came with boxes of bits and a spare screen, I have already been in touch with the last owner who bought it in 1974, it was called `Nelly Belle` by the family and he was sad to see it crashed. The first owner was an airman from RAF Uxbridge. I hope to make the journey entertaining as I put it back together.

Good to see a Vauxhall being rebuilt as opposed to being ragged round the banger circuit..
Like I said I'd have bought it only we have a FE estate, VX Estate, VX GLS Saloon, FD Ventora and a FD 2000
couple of HA Vans in the collection, plus a few others and daily runners so space is premium !!!...
Look forward to seeing further progress and video..
By the way the Yellow ES didn't by any chance have NAH---M as it's registration ??...

@@neilhellewell9402 The reg on the Yellow one wasn't the correct one as I think they sold it, the replacement one was an L reg, the car was a 2.3 auto. This Gold car is a base model and when I took out the carpet it had the original rubber floor covering and it's like new. There's surprises to come I think but It'll be put back out there to be cherished. I can't believe there are so few left of this model and next year is the 50th year since the FE was launched.
