John writes the best column in GP, always very insightful in so many ways. It should be the FIRST column in the PG, not the last. But I guess they save the best for last in each issue.
Great demo John. Just as I said, “why not try it with a solid sta...” you mentioned using the Katana, to see how it works. Great sounds through the effects loop. I’ve wondered whether the Loud N Proud would work through an effects loop, or at least the 4 input amp circuit side. That Pedal Show just did an episode on preamps, and showing which are “true” preamps that can be put through the effects loop and get the same headroom or better. Wish they’d had this one to compare to the others. Sounds killer.
I didn't expect to find an up to date review of this. MP and Carl Martin make some supremely cool s..t Might be something in the water up there in those northern climes.
One of the more interesting demo guys going; be cool if they did more of these in greater depth. The hair has gone grey, but he never looks any older; must be clean living, - and/or doing what you love?
Stumbled across this pedal and it is interesting. Would you ever use it in front on a Fender to drive it a little more in low volume ranges? My DRRI does not start sounding sweet until around 5 which is loud.
Can you run this as a DI box to a PA instead of feeding it to an amp fx loop. Why - because the Amp is going to make a huge difference. In that way you could compare it against similar units like a Joyo American or Joyo Clean Glass to see how it stacks up against those much cheaper amp sims.
Scratching my head right now... either buying this pedal or changing amp... the price is quite high, but price is forgotten and quality stays. Anyway thanks for the demo. Maybe sticking with the Tele on both amps would have helped get a better idea of the differences btw solid state and tube....
He’s running it through the effects loop at the end there. He said he had it set pretty flat, because the pedal has eq, and I’m sure the amp was clean to show how the pedal works with it. I thought it sounds killer. A good actual preamp pedal can give a solid state amp some headroom, and just warm it overall. The Kingsley preamp pedals are all excellent, but they’re pricey new. I’m wondering if the Loud N Proud can work in the effects loop as well as this one does.
Someone could basically build custom cheap fender knock off looking amps that are just a standard amplifier with this pedal built in. I’d use a blonde one any day.
We've been calling them "blackface Fenders" for DECADES without issue and without any insult to anyone of any ethnicity. But this is 2020 so you can't really say anything without enraging the mob, so I can't say I blame you.
You're used to seeing grown men wear baggy oversized shirts to hide their frumpy bodies. This is what a healthy male with a well fitted shirt looks like.

I just love the way John plays! He makes everything sound great!
Dig that! Well done Brother and thanks for sharing John and Premier! Be Well All!

Thanks Sinner Train..
Love the tone of that pedal !
John, thanks for finally wearing a mic so we can hear your voice properly! And, nice pedal, yeah, but expensive.
Stay safe, my friend. Cheers.

Hi John! I love your playing, but frankly, I think you sound as good into the naked amp as you do into the effected amp.
I didn't expect to find an up to date review of this. MP and Carl Martin make some supremely cool s..t Might be something in the water up there in those northern climes.
No matter what sort of yt tangent im on, when I see john bolingers beatiful face I check it out.
god damn it, now I need another pedal.
How does it sound, when it's connected to a DAW or PA with just a cab sim?
Great stuff John

For 50$ the Joyo American Sound ,comes damn close!!Minus the Honeydrive of course!!
John...your playing is progressively sounding even better...alot of work on your part and it shows.
Thanks Russell. Music is like a puzzle we never put all the way together.... Play on, amigo
Oh so happy you think so...phew...
Not TOO bad Johnno! \m/
Nice job as always! I see a Katana amp sitting there. Would you recommend running this pedal thru that on the clean channel? Thanks!

Hey Corb, thanks for the response. That was helpful!
Yes, that's where I had it. I've played a ton of gigs on this Katana... and I'm always on the clean with pedals in front.. That's just my comfort zone
Thanks John, I’m now doing the same!
Stand up Guy right here loves gear
Smokin John
I got a new sound system anthem ready. Please have a listen.
ROCK N ROLL

I’ve never heard them referred to as black panel amps, but it is so much better than the alternative. Good call, John. And of course, great demo.
I've noticed a lot of people losing weight during lockdown and quarantine. How does that happen I'm just getting fatter.
aging are we? don’t get old john 🙏
Shut up......
More rich tone in one note played here than the entire Steve Vai catalogue. Viva vintage equipment and subtle playing.

Man I hate these incessant Noom ads with brainless adherents...
whys he always wearing his kids tee shirts?
Because he likes offending the youngsters who think he doesn't have a right to wear whatever he wants.
What does that even mean? Huh?
