Awesome choice! It Follows has a very simple (and even silly!) premise, but somehow it works. At least it keeps you tense throughout the entire movie. Evil Dead 2013 is fantastic, one of the best remakes of all time. The sequel, Evil Dead Rises, is okay. I recommend you the movie When Evil Lurks. Many people believe it was the best horror film of 2023, a bit overlooked among reactors, probably because it's in Spanish. But it's good, I promise.
Men in Tights?! I so look forward to what you all think of that, it's a personal fav of mine and if ye like it maybe check out Young Frankenstein, which I consider the best of the Mel Brooks filmography. If ye get the chance of course, I imagine that the recs list is so impossibly long already... but some random childhood favs of mine that came to mind to recommend would be Tank Girl, The Witches Of Eastwick, The Lost Boys, The Mummy and also Beetlejuice (the trailer for the sequel just dropped and it has Wednesday Addams aka Jenny Ortega in it)
The reason it is popular is because it is actually an original horror movie and it came out during a time when every horror movie was a demonic, slasher, gore fest, or ghost film.
This. Every time someone would ask me why I liked it so much, I would tell them I don't even like horror, but I loved this movie. Its so refreshing in the genre.
45:22 What you're missing here is that the reason the movie gave you the shot of Greg having lunch with those other three girls is that the implication is that he passed it on to one of them, which is why it took so long in getting back around to him.
13:49 & 34:37 it followed Jeff naked as his mother when he passed it to Jay; it murdered Greg as his mother; and Jay saw it in the pool as her father 💀💀💀💀 "sometimes i think it looks like people you love just to hurt you"
Yo this movie is so good, I love how production keeps us guessing what year it is, between old and new cars, one house looking modern inside and another looking like it’s out of the 80s. Or the weird future tech like her compact palm laptop thing. Also I love the nod to Nightmare on elm street with the clueless adults providing no help to the kids. Def my top 10 horror
I like to think that “It” occasionally consciously chooses to take the form of its previous victims, just as a second layer of cruelty and disrespect. But it taking the form of one’s loved ones is also fucked up cause not only does it do so so that it could traumatize/haunt you further, but so it can be disguised and get closer to killing you. It is such an interesting concept for a horror genre.
51:25 She didn't do it with the guys on the boat. She just told Paul that she doesn't want to pass it to him and that she shouldn't have passed it to Greg. Doing it with multiple people in a row wouldn't "infect" all, but only the first one, who would then have to pass it on, and if he died the thing would go back to her.
Its interesting. The movie premiered in the US in early 2015. On Oct 1, 2014 Roosterteeth podcast aired episode 166 where Gavin Free brings up the snail assassin scenario, heres an animated short of it th-cam.com/video/HINYhLtaaxc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=JUgz0RzLbOEUY7B1 The film debuted in France at Cannes film fest in May 2014. Gavin could have seen/heard of the film or it could be a giant coincidence.
Blake's rage at the jumpscare with the yelling and the "I was CHILLING" 😂 those are my favourite. Love a nice false sense of security that leads into a really unexpected jump 👌
@@KingdomHeart556its true they its been announced that the sequel has been greenlit , the sequel supposed to pick up 10yrs after the original and jay is returning for the sequel
The director explained in an interview that the reason the kids made stupid mistakes is because they're kids and they didn't know what they were doing. The others didn't go near the edge of the pool because since they can't see It, then only Jay could check to see if it was still in the water. As for the morally questionable decisions in the film, that's the point. Hough and Jay had to make horrible decisions and sacrifice others to save themselves.
This movie on paper sounds mundane. But the execution of it is so eerie. And the director said he did certain super subtle things that would affect the viewer subconsciously and make them feel uncomfortable but not being able to figure out why. Like how you guys were tying to place the year/timeline. One house had furniture and things from past decades, while the neighbors house has modern kitchen appliances. In a scene it’ll look like one season, then the next scene will seem a different one. And then there’s the shell phone that doesn’t even exist in reality. Pretty darn smart of him because this movie left me feeling uneasy.
It follows, The Babadook and Oculus were at the time the three films responsible for the popularization of what eventually came to be called "elevated horror". I think you should take a look at "Oculus", Mike Flannigan's debut movie. Really good film.
The scores in this movie are BANGIN'. I remembered seeing this movie in theaters when it came out and wow, it pulled me right in. And also, I'm supposed to believe that that man is 21? Gurl, plz!
Love you guys, hope Corey’s situation is going well, fun fact the director of the film David Robert Mitchell didn’t set a time period for the film in production which is why the film feels nostalgic and modern at the same time. I hope you guys watch THE BABADOOK soon, you guys should also watch CANDY MAN and start the Jordan peele trilogy GET OUT is a must no excuses haha.
Yeah... "Babadook" is an amazing psychological horror flick, very worthy...same goes for Peeles "Get Out" & "NOPE" is a different trip entirely (lofl)...& w/no disrespect to the director, I thought "Candyman" was awful, since Barkers original is so damn good. It is indicated in that one scene of Greg talking with other girls, that he probably slept with one of them. So this ist why he was left alone for 2 days. Because IT got to those girls first.
The movie plays out like a bad dream or nightmare. The rules are vague, the time period doesn't make sense, the characters seem trapped... it's just like nightmares I've had.
The reason for the old movies, and the tv antennae , and the shell kindle, and the old cars is to make the movie appear timeless. There's no setting in time for this stories
My first thought here was: “who tf is Matthew.!?” He hasn’t been in any of the Haunting of Hill House or Scream videos, which are what brought me to this channel. Lol. Nice to meet you, Matthew.
I had the hardest time actually getting into this movie myself, but I have really enjoyed watching reactions to it. It's an interesting one. Looking forward to watching this one, as per!
Fun fact the guy the played the huge eyeless version of it is actually that tall in real life. His name is Mike Lanier & he and his brother are both 7’7” and have been in the Guinness book of world records. He unfortunately passed in 2018 at 48.
I interpreted it as Igli, the different ones we saw was victims but as the guy that gave it to her said, it can take the form of anyone, even those you know, which I think is a direct correlation to those subjected to s abuse, r*pe etc, often its done by someone they know...
This movie did a good job in bringing “dark, creepy, uncomfortable” feelings to the audience. Things like that tend to linger in people’s minds. (Anyone can get used to jump scares.) A movie you might enjoy is 2003 “Darkness Falls”, involves tooth fairy legend. (Has a Buffy actor if you can spot them.) Really enjoyed seeing you guys trying to get a strategy, and work through the problem for the protagonist. It would be interesting to see what you all can come up with for the following: “Frailty”, “Fallen”, “Identity”, “1408”, “Two Days in the Valley”, “Wild Things”, “Fatal Attraction”, “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle”, and”The Arrival” from 1196 starring Charlie Sheen. (I don’t think any of these will be anywhere near as dark or uncomfortable as “It Follows”, so don’t worry). -BTW, if your girl is still too insecure to fart in front of you, she’s probably not entirely secure with the permanence of the relationship. -😊
This is a brilliantly done movie! You are not supposed to figure out the time period because no such time period exists. It was done that way to throw the viewer off balance. The whole movie is done so the viewer is always in a state of unease. At the beginning, Jay is swimming in one scene, and in the next scene, she's wearing a heavy coat, so you don't even know what time of year it is. The viewer never has any level of comfort with any aspect of the movie. So brilliant!!! Top-shelf horror!!!!
That was a fun reaction! There are points where the incidental music sounds very similar to the scores composed during the 1980-1985 period of Classic Doctor Who.
My friends and I watched this when it came out, around 13 years old, safe to say we did not sleep that night. Such a good film. Thanks for the reaction, guys!
For some reason this reminds me of a modern indie Nightmare on Elm Street, atmospheric horror that fully commits to a concept. The score, the retro/modern vibe makes it so interesting and the cinematography and directing add to the eery-ness. The themes seem to be kind of open-ended and up to interpretation, kind of like just a glimpse into this specific world's lore. It's spooky and effective but kind of underplayed almost idk. It'll be interesting to see what they do with the sequel. Maybe going with Igli's theory the forms "it" can take are victims but not of the line of people passing it on but just victims in general. Which is such a potent added layer of this narrative if that's was the case. It's kind of funny to imagine she swam to those guys and they all kind of awkwardly declined, bc I think she never tells anyone and "it" still appears to her right after. That's what I'm choosing to believe happened with the boat scene anyway. You all mentioned solid plans to escape but imagine you're flying and then suddenly "it" spawns on the plane or something. Would be terrifying. Thanks for doing this reaction, just the best vibe honestly, really love how you all can react to anything and make it fun, no matter the genre or sub-genre. "this better be celebratory" and "she got cooties" quotes back to back was wild 😂
"2015, I think that was the year the Cubs won the World Series" Close, it was the year that Back to the Future Part 2 predicted the Cubs would win the World Series! lol This movie is in my top 3 horror movies of the 2010s with a great lead performance from Maika Monroe and the awesome Disasterpeace soundtrack.
The boat guys were implied not to happen as they made it ambiguous but it was kind of obvious she didn’t go through with it as right after she said she only passed it off once to Greg and didn’t want to do it again at that point
Maika Monroe is one of my favorite actresses she is also in the new movie long legs!! They're scheduled to be a IT follows part 2. A few of her movies I suggest is The Guest, Significant other, God is a bullet.
Everyone considers the "fly across the world " strategy, but no one considers that not everyone can drop a couple thousand to fly to another country, or if the characters even have usable passports.

The film follows the story of a con artist with obsessive-compulsive disorder. On Rotten Tomatoes, "Matchstick Men" holds a rating, as of my last update, of 82% based on the reviews from critics, indicating generally favorable reviews.

So fun hearing you guys theorize about "it" throughout the movie. Personally love it. I'm not sure how to feel about the way it kills you, though... There are also so many unanswered questions (I hope are NOT being answered in the sequel). Like IT is smart. It can climb buildings and everything. It could probably run, too, it just chooses not to.
honestly it walking slowly makes it more scary. It reminds me of one of Junji Ito's short story about a man in a zombie apocalypse, and his GF gets bit and he doesn't want to kill her. But she is SUPER SLOW. Like can't see the movement on naked eye and it took I think a day for it to move from other side of the room to other. One of my fav comics of his
I really like the theory that the forms it takes are the past victims but obviously that doesn't track, but hearing that still made me wonder like why are a bunch of the first forms like nude or disheveled women she doesn't recognize? why do they seem like possible victims of something similar to what happened to her? and now i think it was appearing to her like that bc she was so traumatized by what happened to her and it takes whatever form is most hurtful (except when it like chooses a kid so it can crawl through the broken door, practical choices like that)
A few mistakes were made. When she was by the lake it didn't seem right that the creature would lift her hair up, the scene could've been done better with her friends trying to coax her into the lake to enjoy the water. As the girl gets up with a towel around her shoulders she could've thrown it back where the towel would catch on the creature revealing it's presence. I think it would just try and kill her rather than lift her hair up. The scene after when she drove into the field and knocked herself out, she then wakes up in a hospital. It's doubtful an ambulance would've gotten there and gotten her out quickly, the creature wouldn't even need 20 minutes to get to her from the lake. It's a decent movie, but that scene at the lake really bugged me.
Y'all should react to Midsommar. It brings a unique "horror" element in the sense that it's more unnerving and psychologically uncomfortable to watch. It has some gore but overall the mentally disturbing elements are what makes it worth the watch. Edit: Blake mentioned Hereditary and the same director also directed Midsommar so you know it'll be an experience haha.
The movie was inspired by a recurring nightmare of the Writer/Director David Robert Mitchell. ‘IT’ took the form of Jay’s friend Yara at the beach, not her sister. The Writer/Director and lead actress are both returning for the upcoming sequel. Can you guys react to the 2014 thriller ‘The Guest’, it’s an amazing film which also has Maika Monroe as the female lead. It was her big breakout role right before ‘It Follows’. Maika’s new movie ‘Long Legs’ which also Stars Nicolas Cage has just opened and looks amazing.😊

I find this movie very mesmerizing. I love how they used Detroit and even worked in the ruins of Detroit to some degree. Though there's something about the zooms that looks weird to me. I strongly disagree that Paul actually slept with one of the streetwalkers and even more so doubt Jay did it with the boat guys. It's ambiguous and I doubt either of them had the heart to do it.

I guess we're waiting for It Follows 2 which is named *They Follow* for a few answers.
The next one is called They Follow, not sure when it comes out though.
One of my fav comics of his
@@GenetMJF I'll have to check that out . Ito's concepts and ideas are beyond terrifying.
It's a decent movie, but that scene at the lake really bugged me.
definitely my favorite score soundtrack. Still listen to it to this day 😊
Ooh, I loved this movie!! An instant classic!
Covering your face should just be against reaction rules lol.
An STDemon - a Slow Traveling Demon
"Deliver Us from Evil" 2014 is the first biblical horror to remind me of "The Exorcist"...since "The Exorcist".
The book is great, too!
the movie takes place and is shot in the metro Detroit area 😄 my hometown 🔥
I watched a video that really gave it more then just being about a std. Like its really good.
I just live the indie feel of movies..the atmosphere and pacing are always superior to any big budget movie I watch
Love the soundtrack to this film
I highly recommend Abigail. It’s from the same directors that did Ready or Not, Scream 5, and Scream 6.
Ready or Not is so good!
@@eimz28 Samara Weaving kills it in the movie. I love her!
This movie had an amazing soundtrack i cant wait for the sequel "They Follow"
Is y’all goin to finish the Saw movies
yeah
Oh yeah! This has the chick from _Significant Other!_ That's another good movie.
Another great reaction. Hope all is well with Corey
Blake popping his neck has to be the most terrifying thing about this whole reaction
It hurts
@@RaggedyPack it's one of the things I just can't handle bone cracking lol scares me more than the show ha ha
The only thing about It Follows is that if the person is immune, what happens to It? 😂
Probably the same thing when they die it just moves back to the next person in the line e.g. you try to infect someone immune it kills you.
OMG where's Saw 6?
Saturday
@@RaggedyPack Thank you!
I don't think she actually went through with the plan with the guys on boat based on her conversation with Paul afterwards
This. The script states that she didn't, too.
@@andersross9273 oh really, so she really didn't then 😯
Yes things are stupid in horror movies. If they weren’t there wouldn’t be any tension or any movie.

I love watching Raggedy Pack reaction before bedtime 😊❤️
You guys should check out District 9 (2009) or They're Watching (2016).
Cant wait to see the rest of your reactions to the saw franchise and id love to see you guys react to kill bill. Kinda new to the channel but so far yall are chill
Kill Bill coming soon
There is a sequel coming :) They Follow same director.
The score is among the best in the horror genre
I find this movie very mesmerizing. I love how they used Detroit and even worked in the ruins of Detroit to some degree.
Though there's something about the zooms that looks weird to me.
I strongly disagree that Paul actually slept with one of the streetwalkers and even more so doubt Jay did it with the boat guys. It's ambiguous and I doubt either of them had the heart to do it.
Dope react as always!!
I’m literally gonna watch this in an hour
