I total agree that we had to look for people that we secretly understood. Growing up in the 1960s and 1970s was truly a great time and beautiful memories were created. However, being gay (which I knew at 5yrs old) or someone different was not an option, so it seemed. I know for myself that I always tried to be someone that I was not, just to please or be accepted. When I watched people like Paul Lynde, Rip Taylor, Liberace or Charles Nelson Riley on television I remember thinking "How come they are allowed to be themselves and I can't"? I'm about to turn 65yrs old and what I have learned is that all the MANY things that I had to go through has built strength within me and also, to be exactly WHO I am without identifying myself as anything , but a HUMAN BEING who happens to enjoy my husband, my furry children, friends and people who add to my life not subtract from it AND I hope that for ALL!!! Be good out there for life goes EXTREMELY fast. God Bless All The People Around The World!
