@James Tucker . Yes, I'm in Australia. It's suffered a decline in popularity over the last decade but there's still a relatively strong following with the collectors. As a racer ( for fun, not serious by any measure) and collector I see both sides of the hobby. There's definitely money in Australia for custom slot cars with some amazingly high prices being achieved on ebay for these cars even when they look nothing like the cars they represent. To be honest there'd probably be very little interest in slot cars here if it wasn't for Southern Model Supplies the sole importer of Scalextric into Australia. They are responsible for commissioning Australian cars with the Scalextric brand. There isn't much of a market here for cars not made in Australia. I'm good friends with a slot car retailer in Adelaide and he was asked by a Scalextric big wig why we don't buy BTCC Scalextric cars the answer is in the first letter, they're British. We have our own touring car championship. I won't even buy cars in our championship if they're made overseas and as all the vehicle manufacturers have now left Australia I'm not even interested in watching the races

This is my first time hearing about 1/24. I was set towards getting 1/32.
If you buy Carrera you can do both :)

@James Tucker I have completed the table and added several feet of track. We now have a 20 ft. back straight. works very well.
@@Sundayslotcars Carrera makes very few American cars in the 1/24 scale, kinda disappointing.
