I think the difference is the placement of the tweeters. In the 120 they moved them above to give the speaker a more natural sound, with the 110 the tweeters seem to loose some hi end due to being in between the woofers!
it makes no difference, trust me, the problem is off axis sound, if the tweeters are speaker cones instead of dome shape, they have less sound of axis on high frequencies, sounding less detailed.
@@tomindia9420 I do believe you're talking outta your 6ss rn. Speaker placement is everything. Do you know how sound waves work?
The New 120 ist an awesome speaker but i think i will stay with my 110 because of the Position of the tweeters and the fact that you can lay IT down. I also Miss the lightshow around the tweeters there are Iconic
I think that is my issue also. I don't like that they abandoned the horizontal option and took away the tweeter lights.
@@JaysStraightUpReviews u can still lay it on its side, but u have to consider that it can get scratched. I asked the support and they said that there are no technical issues with laying it on its side.
@@massivNikki of course you can lay it on it's side, they just don't intend for it to be used that way since they eliminated the rubber side feet. It won't really lay totally stable on it's side either without the feet. The 120 with the tweeters on top will also have all the treble coming from one side with it horizontal.
I saw the 310 on a party, with one rubber side feet missing. I assume JBL wanted to have one issue less and gave up on them... :)
I have 110 and the lights and tweeters symmetry are definitely better on 110. Sound wise I guess 120 is better but I won't upgrade for sure for like a little upgrade. The battery thing is cool tho.
The 110 has nice tweeter lights, but one thing I never liked about Partyboxes is that the lights on the 110, 310 (or under) and 710 do not have "Freeze" mode like on the 120, 320, and ultimate. Freeze is always on and stays put for those who dont want the constant rave effect. Sometimes a nice stable glow is all people want.
BUT, a swappable battery on the 120, is HUGE. The PB 110 or 310 or anything under is essentially a boat anchor if or when the battery goes or must reamin thethered to a wall. At 65.00 +- for an additional battery, it's a no-brainer and something JBL should have done from the getgo on these "portable" speakers.
Nice comparison, love my pair of 110’s
Thanks for this video!!! It was really helpful!! Waiting for 310 vs 320!! Keep it up man!!!
It's out now.
I think the 120 has a less metallic mid than 110 and it has brighter highs too. The bass hits stronger on higher volumes, it has a more equal overall sound.Very good test as always!
Yeah, I kind of noticed this after playing these two againt each other with several different "regular music" genres. I think JBL did tweak the mids a little.
For clarity, I undoubtedly prefer 110 (assuming the bass settings are in the same level... ! From my experience... I did not find much difference regarding bass as we hear in this review.. I might be mistaken though). Today, I compare the two in a shop... except for battery purpose... I prefer 110 over 120 ... But it's evidently clear that everyone's choice and taste is not the same
I just got my PartyBox 110 in February 2024 right before the PartyBox 120 came along and I’ll think I will stay with my 110 and wait for the 130 but anyways nice review good job on doing the bass comparison too👍
Bro light pura off kr sakte hai kya??
Оба патибокса супер, но менять 110 не буду, время работы от аккумулятора решает многое 😊 дополнительно покупать аккумулятор дорого 😂 а вообще браво JBL 🎉❤и спасибо Jay's 🤟😎for strong metal music
Just a suggestion...it would be better if you show your handset while changing speakers rather than you speak in between the songs...
I think much more solid sound in 110 compared to 120
The 120 more low freuency of bass
They sound similar to me but i like light show better on 110 better.
Interesting that you prefer the old lights.
@@JaysStraightUpReviews110❤
Thanks and you beat Flossy to the test!
Does the 120 club have noticeably more bass than, for an example, the boombox 3. I might get the new Stage if its worth it since i want more bass than the boombox!
Do you mean Partybox Club 120? Only the Partybox Stage 320 uses the name "Stage". The BoomBox 3 and Partybox Club 120 are very different sort of speakers so it depends on what you want it for. Boombox 3 is better for cleaner more "HIFI" sound I guess and Partybox is better for parties because of its louder and more bassy sound + Lights.
@@Usenowgamer yea, i do mean the 120.
Overall is the 120 better?
That's up to you to decide. I gave my opinion if you would watch the video. 😉
@@JaysStraightUpReviews i'm planning to buy the 110 but since 120 is coming up i can't decide what to buy hehe, 😅 by the way I love your videos very straightforward ❤
@@adriancarnalna8530 well amazon.com does have the 110 on sale for $299.99. amzn.to/4a70mwz
120 takes the win. Plus with auracast its future proof for all your future jbl speakers. Just that fact alone im buying it and the jbl 320
I'm disappointed that the 120 and 320 don't have WiFi. The PB Ultimate does and they re-released smaller speakers like the Boombox 3 and Charge 5 with WiFi.
Great review! Now let’s see the 120 vs Onn lrg party spk Gen 2!
I no longer have the Onn Large Gen 2. Both of them I had, several months apart, developed popping noises in the speakers and had to be returned.
@@JaysStraightUpReviews oh no, it’s all good. That’s weird that that started happening.
bear in mind these speakers have equalizer in app. All the JBL changed in 120 is default equalizer settings. Thats it. They are the same.
The 110 has a limited 3 band EQ that you can adjust. It is flat out of the box. The 120 has a 5 band EQ, that you can opt to use. However, the 120 also has pre-set EQ's and uses one as default. So no, the 110 doesn't have any pre-set EQ. As you can hear I did set them both to flat and they didn't sound the same and are not the same.
@@JaysStraightUpReviews 5 stage eq? wow, thats new. I meant that they hardware is mostly the same i suppose, but the preset default eq is different - thats the main reason they sound different. I am pretty sure u can make them sound the same messing with the eq - that what i meant.
@@RivieraByBuickYeah I guess it's this way. Because I never encountered ready preset in JBL. For me I'm using flat +2 bass when I really need this 💥
@@RivieraByBuick No, they do sound pretty different with a flat EQ and the 120 also can go noticably lower in bass.
@@rollingslothmachine3431 "flat EQ" - sounds funny. It is flat AFTER JBL preset it, not before. Factory "flat EQ" is different for 110 and 120. Thats the whole point of this conversation.
The slingly fuller sound must be more noticeable in person for the 120.
Jay - you think that could be the extra 8 lbs the 120 is carrying brings extra quality comes from lol?
They look the pretty much the same size and same dimensions. Do u feel that extra 8lbs. I swear I've seen a couple sites stating 14.5KG or 31lbs?
That’s the shipping weight. They weight the exact same.
I want a partybox for a pool party, do you think this 120 is a good choice? I like the size of the speaker, i think the 320 is too big, thanks
I think it would work well for a pool. It can get wet, just don't drop it in the pool. 😆
Hey man, quick question: does it go well with the 110 wireless stereo?
Which one would be better for metal rock
If the battery is removed, can it be turned on directly to electric power?
It can run directly off electricity. Check out my First Look 120 video.😉
Is it possible to connect a subwoofer on the 120 via it's Aux out?
I had no idea what the Evers 8 was until I googled it. It only goes down to 50Hz and that is at -10dB! That's pretty lousy. I would get the Boombox 3 is price isn't an issue.
Ясно. спасибо. Но у Бумбокса нет выхода под микрофон. Для меня это критично.@@JaysStraightUpReviews
110 💥
Thank you for the video great review
Glad it was helpful!
I am going to buy my first partybox. There is an offer in my country on jbl. Shall I buy the 110 for 227 euros or the 120 for 326 euros?
If you want to save money, the 110 is a great speaker.
Does the 120 lose bass at max volumes? I couldn't nodice
I think it's a little less so than the 110.
I currently see it at Costco for $400 which includes a microphone
See what at Costco for $400?
@@JaysStraightUpReviews The Partybox 120 with Mic Bundle is at Costco for $399.99. This is in my local Roseville California warehouse
@@STREETFIGHTER50 not really a good deal. BrandsmartUSA still has the 120 for $249.99.
@@JaysStraightUpReviews Bummer I just checked BrandSmart. Member price is $389.99. I don’t think it comes with a microphone either. $249 would’ve been a steal!

Is the 120 louder than the 110?

@JaysStraightUpReviews Bro I can't watch the vid rn and your replies are killing me 😭😭
120 takes it for sure!
i jusr got my120... do i need to "On" the speaker just to charge the battery while plugged on a power source wall socket?
If you mean does it have to be turned on to charge the battery when plugged in, then the answer is no.
bro, I own pb 110, if I removed the battery connected on the side, can this speaker still work when I plug it directly into the AC wall outlet?
I have no idea what you are talking about regarding the 110 side battery..
@@JaysStraightUpReviews pb110 have battery right? What if I remove it, will the speaker still works if I just plug it in AC Outlet? Does it make sense?
@@Sheeshhhhhhhh I have no idea, since the 110 battery is internal and you would have to take apart the speaker to get to it.
can it be used by plugging in the outlet without the battery?
Great vid..i think the 310VS320 will be a bigger difference...welp at least I HOPE....😂😂😂
It's hard to tell from a TH-cam video and through a recording, but based on what i've seen from the only two videos on YT comparing the 110 to the 120, the 120 has a VERY noticeable sound quality improvement over the 110, it sounds fuller/better rounded/more detailed across the whole frequency range. Of course while "sound quality" may be a matter of preference the 120 sounded more open and defined to me, which was a slight issue for me that kept me away from the 110. Thank you for bringing this comparison to us Jay, and oh BTW the Partybox 120 and 320 are due to be released in the US on April the 6th according to a JBL Rep, i got in touch to inquire about release dated and that's what they provided me with.
I had heard April 22nd I believe, but that may have changed
@@JaysStraightUpReviews I wouldn't take my date too seriously either as it came from Harman Kardon Support. Yes, HK is Parent to JBL but it's not like it was from a distribution or marketing specialist, just from Support, so, take it with a pinch of salt :)
@@Satorikn yeah, I see it generally listed as coming out in April without a specific date. Amazon had the 120 and 320 available for pre-order for a while a few weeks back and they had I think April 20th or 22nd as the ship date. It's no longer available on Amazon for pre-order now, however.
The funny thing is. My JBL sounds more open when listening though my phone with AAC. My PC Bluetooth of course didn't have this technology and it's noticeable but it's nothing crushing difference. So it depends on PC/PHONE too. I'm not picky so mostly I'm listening through my PC.
The 120 definitely hits lower
I could really tell a difference but it enough to justify upgrading a slightly deeper tone barely hear it still has the boomy tone to it I might just wait for the 130 it will be even better
If you are waiting for the Partybox 130 you will probably be waiting 3 years or more. 😲
@@JaysStraightUpReviews yea but if you go from a 110 to 130 that’s an upgrade I mean this is one design lights logo sound yea but I just saying the jump from the 110 to a 130 will be even bigger and honestly the lights around the tweeters is cool I missed that on the 120
@@Unkown18346 sure, you can wait 3+ years of you want to. Heck, wait 7 years maybe and get the 140. That will be an even bigger jump, right? 😆
@@JaysStraightUpReviews that’s if they call it that lol
The LEDs do not surround the tweeters on the 120 model.
correct
The 110 was weaker and boomy versus the balanced clean sound of the 100 at the time of the former’s release. Has it improved since? Because if not, and with the 120 ever slightly also weaker and brighter versus 110, then i wouldn’t upgrade from mu current 100. 100> 110>120… also worth noting that the tweeter positioning in 120 is the same as in 100, JBL surely realized the better performance of the original 100… the 100 also has rubber feet on both sides so you can lay it on either sides… the improvements are aesthetics well and good but I go for the sound quality, so, no…
You better just stick with the 100 and continue eating oatmeal for breakfast every day. 😆
Hi great review... Do I have to remove battery if I want to run on DC only ?
No.
I think, 120 has more low frequency bass than 110
I think the bass has been slightly improved in the 120.
Waiting for the 320 I wanna see if I should upgrade my 310 or just skip the 320
It's never worth it to change JBL In one generation. It's always too small difference. I would wait for 330. I have couple of speakers from them and there is no reason to change after one generation. I mean if it Gives joy why change it for 10% difference. If they make it 50% different yeah. That's cool.
@@kacpermichalec9721 exactly
The 320 has some noticable improvements, like better sound, deeper bass, better wheels and a changeable battery. Though I don't think it is worth it to upgrade from the 310 to the 320.
If you had nether yet, I do think the 320 is worth the higher price, if price is not a major concern for you.
@@rollingslothmachine3431 deeper bass really that’s not what I heard it’s opposite 310 has deeper bass
No reason to change if it's same wattage. It's weird they didn't squeeze more power in them. Still great product whole Partybox series.@@Unkown18346
The 120 dont have the stobo lights?...but the 110 isnt as crisp to muddy.
The 120 does have 3 separate strobes on the top middle, but none on bottom. The 110 has a single strobe in the middle on the top and bottom.
Does aura cast still work with the previous gen party cast? (Not TWS)
I don't believe so. I'm not really up on Auracast because I never had anything that supports it.
@@JaysStraightUpReviewsdefinitely look into the new Auracast tech. It’s gonna be revolutionary! It isn’t a JBL tech but from the Bluetooth company itself. These speakers will be able to connect to any other branded auracast device now.

Don't really have plans for that video, but maybe somewhere down the road.
Может, 120 хотя бы легче на грамм 700?
I think they both sound the same to me
Not really the same. I think JBL tweaked the mids a little with the 120 and the bass is just a bit fuller. I don't think there is a really big difference, however.

Are you people commenting on the sound crack me up. Can’t tell a thing on here.
What kind of potato are you listening on? 😆
I actually just returned my 110. I thought it sounded terrible with the iphone and Samsung tablet. It sounded decent when connected to the PC using an Avantree DG80 Bluetooth transmitter but that is a very good bit of kit and known for giving a very clean sound, which it did when using the 110. Using the phone sounded very muddy by comparison with recessed vocals, just awful. Strange, because my JBL Charge 5 sounds excellent when connected top the iphone and tablet. The 120 seems to be step up in sound quality, better mids, vocals and clearer bass.
Did you adjust the sound in the Partybox app EQ? Or a 3rd party EQ? Something doesn't add up with this scenario. 🤔
