@@-aku2805 lol, solo shatters isn't throwing if it's the right target at the right time. Suppose I know you, as the Ana, are the only one with an ult and I can solo shatter you so you are staggered and unable to deliver that nano, that's a high value shatter.
22:07 if you look at OWL/OWCS stats, I can guarantee Shu probably has some of the highest deaths of all support players but he is widely regarded as the best Ana and maybe best flex support. The reason is that he understands win conditions and value so much. If he knows his team is behind the 8ball with no ults you will see him set up SUPER aggressive Ana nade spots where he likely dies but his team follows up and gets a team wipe. It's understanding win conditions.
3:50 On the topic of losing feeling bad: Try to remember that rank is merely a tool to increase your match quality. If you can’t hang in higher level lobbies, then it will be more fun for everyone, including you, if you rank a bit lower.
KarQ: Holding your sleep can be more valuable. Awkward: Use your cooldowns, don't wait for an opportunity thay may never come. I'm confused, so I'm just gonna keep doing my thing, which is to miss every single sleep dart then swapping to Illari due to frustration.
It's because it depends. Learning Ana or at a rank where mistakes are punished less? Go for the sleep dart. It has a 12s cooldown. In higher ranks you're likely to already have the gamesense when to use it and missing sleep dart is more costly. There are also scenarios where holding it can reward you (against a nanoed target, for example). So holding it has value, but don't wait forever to use it. Kind of like grav. Sleep is very strong and you'll paradoxically get better at using it when you constantly experiment with it. One day you go to sleep the nano blade and hit it, because you've practiced those split second flick shots despite not thinking you could
sometimes having a sleep dart ready to cancel an ult is enough to make people second guess ulting, its kinda like when 2 reins are fighting but 1 rein hasnt ulted in a while, makes the other one 2nd guess playing aggressive for fear he gets shattered or his team getting shattered. TLDR If a high value ult hasnt been seen in a while, save sleep for it. If they have dive, save sleep for them
It's a matter of degrees. KarQ isn't suggesting you hold your sleep dart for 5 minutes. We're talking seconds here. I doubt KarQ holds his sleep for any significant length of time unless he's specifically baiting someone and that's not something anyone below t500 should focus on because that's a very high risk-high reward maneuver that isn't going to pay off most of the time. At lower ranks, if you did that - 90% chance you just get ulted and killed when you whiff the sleep dart after baiting them for 10 seconds.
I played a game with a LW as my other support (I was Juno) and they carried us to victory. They petal'd us out of a Zarya ult and clutched a pull to save a teammates life several times. Maybe hard to get good or these circumstances are few and far between, but a LW can definitely carry.
I believe KarQ said "it's harder to carry" for LW because of the scenarios you stated. If Zarya hadn't ulted your team and your teammate wasn't in danger, how would LW have carried? These are good examples of LW being reactive which is what LW excels at. But, it relies on your team making mistakes/being caught out in the first place. If your team doesn't do that, it's much harder for LW to carry.
@@MrBrock314 I agree with you completely. Just wanted to share my experience as that game happened hours before I watched this video and it stood out from other games as I don't experience LW moments like that very often. Props to whoever that LW was! gg. Gold/Plat player for reference.

Not that I disagree with our boy KarQ on the KD question, but I would like to add that if someone points out your KD and it is significantly worse than the rest of your team then maybe you should look inward before trying to give your team mates advice. I don't mean if you are 5-6 and your teammate is 6-4. I mean if you are playing dps and everyone on your team is in the realm of like 15-5 and you are at 2-9. The scoreboard isn't everything, but it can be an indication of underperformance. While I'm already ranting about the scoreboard, dmg numbers are even less important than KD in my humble opinion. It is already well known that if you are playing sombra or widow that you will be getting less dmg than your teammate playing bastion or reaper, but even the circumstances of the game can cause one player to get less damage than another. If your team is rolling and holding the enemy far away from the point/cart and you need to stay behind and be payload princess then you're going to have less damage than your teammates, but that doesn't mean you were less of a contribution to your team's victory.
There is a secondary factor though. What is the game sense of the person typing? You can be doing personally not well (for a variety of factors) while still having a good idea why the team is losing. You don't have to be Michael Jordan to know when the team is getting free 3's when no one is guarding them. Being personally bad at the game doesn't mean you don't understand the game in theory. You could just have terrible aim and be playing the wrong character at the time. Many coaches could no longer play well personally but that doesn't mean they don't know how to.
Losing in overwatch pisses me off more than any other game specifically ranked because you lose so much and it’s highly dependent on your team. And games like Apex I can still succeed by doing good even if my team didn’t do as well or or dog water I could try my hardest and usually tell within the first five minutes if the game is gonna be won or lost
I love that you showed a comment for the second question. I suggested that a while ago (in video #43). It's a win-win-win situation for you really. 1: you agree with the upvoted comments, so you can quickly move on and tackle more questions per episode -> more content for you. 2: you actually don't agree with the comments, so you can then elaborate further by giving your own opinion -> more content for you. 3: when people realize that they might end up in one of your videos, they'll post better comments and questions on the subreddit, so the quality of OWU improves -> better content for you. Oh, and banana bread.
for the second question, too many people worry about their rank, instead of looking at your rank as some shiny new toy, it’s a reflection of your skill if you get better you will climb no matter what, continue to improve and eventually you WILL see that rank up. it doesn’t matter who your team is or how they play, you are the only constant in every game you play, if you are better than the average in your rank you WILL rank up. don’t stress your rank and just play to improve and learn
I think the easiest way to explain zoning is that it's basically a threat of consequence. You use a threat or an ability to suggest to the enemy team that they'll be at risk if they enter a specific area/zone. Often times, the enemy has to respect that threat, so that threat can be effectively used to control the enemy's response, predictability or reliability.
Tanks also get shot a lot. Especially in lower ranks, so your sleep might not even last 0.5 seconds which is totally wasted unless it stopped a crucial event like a hook conversion. Putting the enemy support to sleep is the best, even if they’re left to sleep the whole duration - in fact that’s likely the best because you practically put their support into pseudo-death for six seconds, and then you can even attempt to kill them towards the end for extra long downtime for them. The enemy team will be starved of healing and just crumble over simply from that. But of course it’s a harder target to hit. Never help a teammate that clearly are doing something they should not. Don’t endorse bad plays. Your Winston or Doomfist just flew in when they shouldn’t? There’s a McCree waiting for them? There’s a Widow waiting to snipe anyone following him and your tank didn’t even jump them? Don’t follow. Let them die. It would’ve been even worse if you went. If your Genji goes for blade and it wasn’t crazy 1v5 and you didn’t go with them or at least try - you’re playing far too cautiously. You’re Kiriko? Should you shift in to save someone? No. If they went in with no good odds and they shouldn’t even have. That’s not your problem, it’s theirs. If you’re Mercy, you should be safe and always prioritize yourself if you have your E up. There are also a lot of supports that can do their job from faraway while not dying. Mercy, Ana, LW. Kiriko. Juno. So many really, playing very safely can force enemies to dive you and pay for it. Always die for a reason.
A few of these questions applies to a recent game of mine. It was on watch point gibralter and started on defense I normally play sombra but have less luck on defense with her so I went symettra tank was late and went road hog into thier dva and we were getting stomped because of thier widowmaker, when I asked for the tank to swap with something with more mobility they responded with my K-D "1-8" and other dps started flaming me in voice chat. I got pretty tilted even hit the leave game button and was on the are you sure? Screen, but then my supports decided to pop in on voice chat and told everyone to calm down and gave some positive energy. My other dps got off of sombra and I was able to lock her and I made that widowmakers life hell for the rest of the game. The reason we were low on heals was because of how much value she was getting and we ended up winning that game by me turning my tilt into a challange to prove them my KD means nothing and yes I did end with a positive KD 23-11 after I decided to be the play maker.
