I can hear, feel, and see why the young FZ fell in love with this sound. Great stuff!
Fan number 1 of varese: francesco vincent zappa 1940-1993
How delightful, and Zappa isnt just talking,he really is inspired by this man.
Nappa Auto-Parts brought me here but the delivery guy left me stranded. The tune played on a flywheel magneto was brilliant.
My drugged out friend brought me here back in 1967. I've liked Varese ever since.
Edgard Varese bought me here.
I came here just for school but I absolutely loved this
The album which drove Frank Zappa to discover his own genius.
Recorded in New York City in 1950. 'Density 21.5' on May 11 at Rachmaninoff Society; 'Ionisation' on May 21 at Greenwich House Music School; 'Octandre' and 'Intégrales' on June 21 at The Mannes College of Music.
The EMS album (401) containing the above selections was first released on October 1st, 1950.
Thank you Frank Zappa for once again broadening my musical horizons
An adventure like no other.
Many thanks.
Yep. Totally checked this out because of Frank Zappa. I could have been in the circle. Totally diggin' this.
Music brought me here... Varese, Messiaen and Zappa whose orchestral work was underrated, not only by Boulez. -
thank you
haha, thank you zappa, you apprently are an inspiration for all of us!
Zappa brought me here as well...
The original lumpy gravy and total inspiration of Frank Zappa's career
I suddenly realized that Connections by James Burke used "Integrales" in its first episode, when all hell broke loose in NYC during the 1965 blackout.
This is fantastic!
Absolutely incredible stuff
I can hear the influence of this in the krautrock of Can, Neu! And Faust
Influencia de Zappa!

Wondering what genius decides to put ads in the middle of a piece instead of the end or beginning???!!!
uBlock Origin puts a stop to that. I use it as a Chrome extension and never see ads on YT.
Or pay for ads free ?
Thank you fz
Edgard was always way ahead of his time
Soundtrack from Psycho brought me here. Great googli moogli 🥸

Immediately thought of Keir Dullea traveling through space & time in 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Intégrales and Ionisation should be used in horror movies and stuff.

I feel like a lot of the original Star Wars soundtracks were inspired by Varese's works
Basically every military music ever is inside of Ionization, specifically. Reminds me a lot of WW2
here from a frank zappa article
I love seeing all the people that are here because of Frank Zappa
Totally! I was going to Comment that Zappa brought me here and then I saw the comment section. Wow!
FZ thank you up there, getting all those slob musos who played elevator music into line.
Just to make sure everyone knows. There is no VOL. 2.
Zappa turned me on to this
ThIs is not the original music. It has the same picture but these are different performances. The original performance of this music was supervised by Edgard Varese himself. He was in the studio when those other recording were made. These versions are OK. But the other record was better.
This version of Ionisation does not compare to the other one supervised by Vareses!!! That version made the hair on my arms stand up. From some reason after listening to the original recording for 20 years, these versions just do not compare. Those who have heard the original recordings of these songs supervised by Varese know what I mean. His supervision of the recordings gave them an intensity that these lack.
it would be great to hear them...i'm assuming they are not on youtube? or if so do you know of any links? i would be very much interested in hearing them.
found this...th-cam.com/video/iRlCnMKa2bU/w-d-xo.html reminds me of every star trek and or twilight zone i ever saw..HA fond memories!
@@chuckthebull Yes I did find those recordings. Type in Octandre Frederic Waldman NY Wind Ensemble. They're all in Mono but you will hear how intense it is compared to the later recordings.
@@groove1722 thanks Rickey!

LOOK OUT BEHIND YOU! Oh sorry. It just seemed right for some reason.
He was very ahead of his time and Frank Zappa didn't bring me here 🙂
Zappa: ... wanted to be Avant guard. Then a cult of lost drank the whine . In reality: The king has no clothes! The king has no clothes!
This is not the same! this is emotional coordination of thought. Not intent to sound like it and then try to sell you...
sounds like a western arrangement of old japanese music
Where can I find this recording to buy?
Frank Zappa brought me here
Looked up Edgard because of Uncle Frank

frank zappa brought me here
haha, yeah...
Reading 'The Frank Zappa Story". I am here. For good.
What is the genre of this music?
Contemporary classical
Experimental Classical
Avant Garde
you had had 3 different answers all meaningless
I am sure Frank Zappas brain was upside down and backwards in his skull. I do like a dozen of his albums. Zoot Allures is my favorite album. Frank said he hated Zoot Allures and only did it to fulfil a record contract. He owed the company 1 more album. Yes I like a dozen of Zappas albums, but there are many more that I can't even listen to. Before his death Frank was asked how he would like to be remembered. He said he didn't care. Some of Edgard's music is okay. Some of it, I can't stand.
60+ years of bullshit pop, elevator music and cancel culture brought me here
