    Would YOU like to see a Beastgrip VS Moment 1.55X Anamorphic battle video?

      Absolutely! A comparison between the two is fantastic 👍👍

      I just watched your Beastgrip review and it too has similar edge softening. The gold flare of the Moment looks nicer but a side-by-side comparison video would be good to see

      If you compare Beastgrip’s latest top of the line lens I believe the Moment lens would be in real trouble.

      Yes please, especially for the softness at the edges.

    A lens this wide and squeezed is supposed to have that distortion/softness falloff on the edges and corners of the image. This is called “character” and is found in nearly every sought after Anamorphic Cinema lens.. it is indeed on purpose intended to have Character.

    • @DylanRotich
      @DylanRotich 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Really adds a lot of character and forces your eyes into the center of the frame where it's sharper.

    Thank you for your honest review. You gained my subscription ☺️. I have the blue was wanted the gold too.. perhaps I’ll wait til they remake it better without the side view issues.

      Thanks! The 1.33 still work well for me. I feel they are concentrating on their new T-Series lenses which don’t work with my iPhone 12 sadly.

    Thank you for the review. I am thinking of buying an anamorphic lens for my phone. I think this one is good for landscape (despite the softness), but I also think I will choose the 1.33X...

      @SmartphoneFilmmaker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re welcome! I didn’t see any issues with the 1.33X so that would still be an excellent choice.

    Can you still zoom in really far with the lens on? My iphone 15 has a really far zoom

    Thanks for another very interesting video. For what it’s worth I have to say I never really understand all the fuss about anamorphic lens flare: I find it completely OTT and distracting and sometimes wonder if the current preoccupation with that look is going to seem like some people’s obsession with selfie filters when we look back a few month or years from now and everything is covered with those ubiquitous golden bars. Still, each to his/her/their. Thanks for the video. Keep ‘em coming.

    • @SmartphoneFilmmaker

      Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes its definitely a very specific look which isn’t going to be desirable for many projects. When it is though the look definitely adds a certain feel to shots. Plenty more to come! : )

      @@SmartphoneFilmmaker I think some people just have a compelling eye for that format. Is it overused? Probably - but in the right hands it’s near magical.

    I really liked the 1.33, idk about the 1.55. It Would be fun to play around with though.

      Yeah they give off a surprisingly different look to each other. Very fun to use.

    Great review on this. A bit disappointed on the fall off of image quality on the sides/edges. I do have a lot more success utilizing my Beastgrip lenses to get near perfect images.

      @@SmartphoneFilmmaker Thanks for making this clear! Another small question: I guess I will 1.3 decide then for the golden one not the blue one, or which do you prefere ?

      @@RSteuermann Depends on the type of projects you are making. Blue in a very modern look but gold gives a more hollywood warm feel.

    Did you ever worked with real anamorphic lens like Kowa/ Cook / Orion? Did you ever read about anamorphic artifacts/ chroma/ soft edges etc? I think you should do some homework and review this lens again...

  • @pdcorlis
    @pdcorlis ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m guessing the basic lens designs haven’t kept pace with the larger sensors found in today’s smartphones and that’s a likely cause of their lackluster performance.

    • @SmartphoneFilmmaker
      @SmartphoneFilmmaker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Possibly. Though Moment released a teaser video for their new T-Series lenses which will fix those issues.

    I can’t wait for a company to start making real anamorphic that’s not so bending and too hash but softer looking and it fades from both edges!

    The flares on all the little camera anamorphics are way overboard.

    • @SmartphoneFilmmaker

      They can be pretty strong for sure. Moondog Labs used to make amazing anamorphic lenses but they don’t seem to sell almost anything on the website now which is a shame.
