I never saw the AMT kit but I bought the original Revell. I also bought a 1/24 NASCAR kit. It was/is my intention to work some of the NASCAR suspension components into the Revell chassis in order to create a replica of a car I saw in an automotive magazine - a track racer that competed with and occasionally beat imports such as Ferrari. So far as the back bumper is concerned, I hope to paint the bumper aluminum and body color above. The hood ... if I can knock it down to stock I will but I will probably just fill the hole with putty and smooth it out.
    Thanks for the review!

I had both of those and probably still have parts around in other cars and in spare parts box, and what you said about kits that are raided of certain parts! Lol yeah that chasi and motor and a lot of the parts for making it a street car. I've cut out the tubs and suspension used them on a 55 Chevy and I have that still. Great channel dude. Keep up the videos

If they are gonna go with a hole in the hood.... it better have a dual quad tunnel ram,big honkin blower or Hilborn fuel inj.set up coming up through that hood !
My first real car was a 66' Malibu & my 2nd a 66' Chevelle SS ex-drag car that made a sweet pro street ride ! My only mistake was the Mr. Gasket V-gate inline shifter ( while great for the strip and midnight secret drag spots ) it was a pain in the azz around the city... well at least till it was really broken in ! ( never missed a shift 😉 ) Love these old model drag kits especially when you start mixing & matching parts from other kits and come up with your own unique 1320 killer ! ✌😎
These were some of my favorite kits as a kid.... really went big for the Pro Sock & gasser cars, also the Tom Daniel's kits 😆
Cool video,I will check out the other videos you have posted.... thanx again for the great memories ☺

I had the Green Revell and I bought it it when it came out. I jacked mine up on all 4s like the street machine's from the late '60s and early '70s. it came out pretty decent and it was a really stiff car and held together really well. I did not paint the body just clear coated it and it actually darkened the green up a little. Thanks for the video and for bringing back some memories.

Having built 1:1 pro street cars in the late eighties through the nineties I can tell you Alston was THE place to get parts so the Revell was always our favorite for accuracy. We just put the Revell pro street chassis under the street stock version to mimic the cars of our day.

I remember going to Kmart back in the early 1990s and buying model cars and trucks, now back then I only paid like seven bucks for them. Back then in my early twenties yet they only cost $7.00 for model kits. Now forget it I seen the prices of what they want for model kids today. They haven't changed they're still the same plastic model kits they made throughout the 1990s but yet they want to sky high rocket for these model kits today. Some of them are like between $30 to 45 or even $50. Times and prices has changed over the years since the 1990s.

I bought the green one a few days ago because i did it when i was 12 but really liked it... I like the poseable wheels in my opinion and was able to get a 55 Revell skip fiesta and 2 of the older ones, i loved how the doors would open and the trunk... Keep doing you and love your vids...

I remember when those were released in the late 80s. I was in high school and drove a 67 Chevelle. Was a big deal for me..First one I found was the AMT 67 pro street version. To build as close a replica of the car I drove.. I converted the kit to "stock"..using mostly the ,then new, amt 66 Nova as a donor kit with parts from other amt kits I had. Won 1st place in my first model contest with it later that year.. I had no idea they would release a stock version a year later . On a side note, sometime in the late 80s around 88, AMT included a questionare in either the kits or their with their blueprinter magazine asking for suggestions on what kits to release next..of course I filled in 67 Chevelle and 67 ford fairlane and promptly sent it in ....couple years later the 67 Chevelle kit is magically available on the store shelves to much surprise..not sure if any other kids bothered to ever mail back that little suggestion card to AMT, but if I was the only one, then you're welcome for such a great kit to be made available all these years now..

Wow i wish revell and amt would reissue these kits iin stock versions with wheel. Tires. Decals hoods and engine options so you can do a ss 396 427 396 350 etc or copo b&m and yenko versions if they did that people who are hard core modelers like us would buy 10 of them

  • @steveharrigan7811

I have found that Revell kits may be a bit more complicated, but are just nicer and more accurate. I like Revell kits right away, where as, AMT stuff has to grow on me or be modified to be acceptable. For my money, its always been Revell/Monogram. They just seem to be the most satisfying. I would really like to see a re release of the 1/32 scale Monogram Drag Triad. I am talking about 3 1/32 scale cars that Monogram made back in the 70's. There was a "Boss Willys", a 34 Ford altered/gasser, and a blown Chrysler powered Fiat altered. I had all three, and although they were simple kits, there was something about them that was magic. I sure would like to have them again, and the box art was great.

For someone who wanted a good looking pro street Chevelle, i would take the revell chassis, the amt body, the revell suspention, and use everything else amt. I built the amt one, and it turned out great, no issues besides radiator and radiator support.

My son has 71 El Camino. There are no 71’s from any manufacturer. I bought the closest kit available which was 68 El Camino from AMT. so much flash and poor mold made me crazy. I will spend hours of sanding and scribing. Thats same for any AMT kit. No doubt Revell better. Just another challenge eh? Great video. Love those pot streets.

I used the Revelle kit to build a 80's Camaro pro street. You have to cut and section it to work. The full frame makes it easy to cut out and line back up. Its basically unnoticeable if done right.
Great video and knowledge of the real world car parts.

I’ve yet to build either of the pro street versions. But whenever I’ve seen them built, I’d wonder why the front end sits so high.
I’ve literally never seen either kit built with a proper, ground-hugging pro street stance.

I recently bought that exact Revell Malibu SS Prostreet (green boxart). I'd be interested in attempting to find the AMT 67 Chevelle SS496 Kit. I like the AMT kits, but chassis detail can often be their downfall.
Difficult to get these American cars over here in Ireland ... Ebay or FB groups being the only real option

always hated the grille on the AMT kit, looked cheap and wasn't as realistic compared to the revell kit..but the AMT takes the cake on one of the best BBC headers in any kit ive seen.

How about a video about the AMT's 1/25 '71 Dodge Charger and Revell's 1/24 '71 Plymouth GTX? I know that they're different scales, but....I'm tempted to buy them both and I'd love to hear your take on them, if you got them that is....

Ive got them both. Both great kits. The Revell GTX is the old 1 24th Monogram Roadrunner that was my last video about the two scales. I like it but cause of its age. Its a little off in some chassis areas. The AMT Charger came out in AMTs hay day of accurate detail. Its a really nice kit. I have it too.

Too bad they put those custom tail lights on that kit. I couldnt stand a 67 without the proper tail lights . For me thats what makes a 67 desirable. I like those tires though.
