There is no way average size can be 6 when the range is from 0 to 32.
4 to 5 stores didn't have the first woman's size!? that's just RIDICULOUS. I would say she's not even a PLUS size. she has a fabulous figure 😠

We do have more than 150 Plus Size wedding dresses in our salon at Evas Bridal International. We also hold periodic trunk shows to bring our brides the newest and hottest Plus Size dresses by award winning designers.
Agreed that it's ridiculous even women who are literally SMALLER than the actual current average can't find items to fit them, but she also explained herself how she set herself up to be disappointed in those stores. She said she wears a size 14 street clothes and called to ask if the stores carry bridal size 14. Size 14 street and size 14 bridal are not the same size. She shouldn't have had to worry about whether they carried her size because the answer should have been an obvious yes to begin with, but she definitely contributed to being stuck in a store where nothing fit in that particular scenario.

This video is EVERYTHING. I understand exactly how they feel, calling ahead, holding back tears and anger when spoken to as if you are not “normal”. The bridal industry really does have some catching up to do... Also will definitely be checking this place out!! #rockyourcurves
They look like normal beautiful women. Why are they labelled as plus size and made to feel miserable? Be happy ladies and don't depend on anyone or anything to make you feel great!!

Size is a size, there is no plus or minus!
Their BMI scores may indicate they are oversized.! They are larger than average. That fact may upset some peoples over sensitivities but thats too bad. A lot of people would see them as fat, another word than offends some people.

Its so nice to see that a store had both the inventory and the ability to attend to each bride's needs. Their styles and preferences were taken into consideration in choosing gowns that showcased and accentuated their curves

All these dresses are so much classier and more elegant than the edgy dresses and low cleavages dresses (of Pnina Tornai mainly) at Kleinfeld.
Pnina mostly has one type of design: low neckline and low, low back in a sheath dress. She DID have a couple of ballgowns in her spring line show that I found here on TH-cam.

I think the average size for women in the US is now a 14. I thought she looked incredible. Why can't fashion designers design dresses for us larger women??

The fact that bridal stores don’t have freaking 14 is terrifying. It’s an average, normal size. I understand that maybe, MAYBE, it’s more difficult to have bigger sizes if you don’t have many plus size customers (but they still should stock a small selection of them). But the fact that they only go up to size 12 makes no sense!

I am was a size 10 in my wedding dress and I only weigh 132lbs. It’s ridiculous the way they size wedding dresses.
Size 14 US is not an average normal size, maybe in US it is? It's equivalent here in Australia is size 18 which is definitely plus size here. Average size in Aus is 12 = size 8 US

a) If nothing else, it seems dumb from a business standpoint to not stock the dresses in a larger size too, when a lot of your (potential) customers are going to be plus sized... What are you odds of a bride walking out your boutique door having ordered a dress-and telling their friends where she found it*-if she had a soul-crushing appointment where she was made to feel horrible about herself?
b) This is a weird one, but many of you commenters, why are you so concerned (and negative) about their foundations? That's your takeaway from this video-which was all about having a lovely experience? I guess we'll file that under 'negativity'... Some people just can't help themselves I suppose.

I wouldn't say it's dumb for some boutiques to not cater to larger women as they are clearly doing well.
Think of it like supermarkets, they have an international section but it hasn't got a huge range so if you want a speciality thing you go to a speciality store (like a Korean supermarket for instance).
All they're doing is specialising in something, trying not to be a jack of all trades (but master of none).
I don't know, that's my opinion.
I'm not technically plus size, I wear 10-12, occasionally 14 in street clothes, but this video really spoke to me. The brides expressed exacty what I was afraid of when I was trying on dresses! I'm actively trying to lose weight after being 40 lbs heavier for the last several years so I've been insecure about my body for a long time. I loved this and all of the brides looked amazing!!!

I was shopping for a wedding dress literally today, I am v plus size and it was a hellish experience, this is so sweet, and luckily I was still able to find something that really is an expression of who I am, instead of feeling like I was playing dress up, I looked and felt like my own modest, simple, clean lines wearing, skirt twirling self woooo

There are many times when ladies with fuller figures have to sacrifice style or a decent fit. Each dress was stunning and extremely flattering.
I’m a plus size bride and just found my dress at the best curvy bridal boutique in Chicago “Brides by Young” . I had the best experience there. I had a great fitting and ended up only going to one shop and tried on many dresses and bought the first one I fell in love with. I left feeling like a million dollars and so excited for my wedding I could hardly contain my excitement.
I agree curvy brides deserve to have a great dress fitting experience just like skinny brides. We deserve to feel beautiful too.

Oh my God, everyone looks so beautiful! The majority of salons that offer dresses for modern brides from brands like A la robe or Rime Arodaky, for example, have very small size samples. I think it is incredibly important to have bigger samples so women don't feel bad about themselves. I am a size 12, but I went to a store of a bridal designer that I was obsessed with and all their samples were Size 8...So I found myself standing in front of the mirror in a dress that I really liked, but I couldn't zip it up, it was too tight and I simply felt myself like a sausage...Looking for a dress is stressful, but to make sample bigger would help to make it more pleasant

There must be something wrong with the sizes they are showing. There's no way that the second bride is a size 18! She seels like a size 12, or 14 maximum! Same thing for the other two

OMG these dresses are so gorgeous especially the overlay styles. My favorite one is the one with the pearls beaded on it. I am hoping a bridal designer recreates an inspired pearl beaded gown. The type of gown Lupita Nyongo wore to the Oscars a few years ago. Also love the burgundy gown Jane Fonda wore yesterday at the Oscars . That would look amazing in a champagne or silver threaded through white.

I LOVE this video! No matter what size you are, you deserve to walk into a dress shopping experience and feel like the dresses are made to fit you. I was in an NYC Macy's bridal salon last week and it was just so disappointing seeing the styles I've always loved and being told the samples weren't available to even try on above a size 8. I'm definitely going to give this gorgeous store a try.

Anm Chavez it certainly is... depending on your height and build though. Even stores like Eloquii for plus size women start at 14.
Anm Chavez that’s an American size 14 which is a UK/Australian size 18 which is plus size in those countries. I’m not sure for European sizes though!
I did some modeling in the past. Pretty much size 10 and over is considered plus size in that industry. Kinda ridiculous. All the hair modeling open calls I used to go to would say for women sizes 0- 6 or 0- 8 to apply only. I am now a size 12/14, but since I am tall, people don't even realize it. I look like some of these women in the video.

@GAgaV8 Cool tone is green, blue and yellow. Warm is pink, orange and red.
Favour Ozordi Warm is yellow and golden and beige, not pink and red. Cool tones in makeup are pink. Most makeup for fair women pulls cool-toned (pink) anyway, so I don’t get why it’s hard to find proper makeup. It’s much harder for me as a very fair warm-neutral toned woman to find foundation that matches

It's so weird that some of these women are plus sized when most doctors would consider them healthy weight. Don't listen to sizes, high-end companies are out to make people feel bad about how they look, it's how they make money.
The first woman isn't plus sized (I'm the same size). 12-14 is an extremely common size. I can't believe shops wouldn't carry the size a good chunk of us wear...

Street 14 is not the same as Bridal 14, bridal runs around 2 sizes behind depending on designer.
Gorgeous gowns on gorgeous women. I actually liked the first dress on the third woman better than what she chose, but I just didn’t care for the sheer overcoat on the last dress.
I’m a size 18 (most of it is cup size), and I feel this. I was petrified that I couldn’t find anything in my size, but I managed to find a few dresses in my size at David’s bridal. They weren’t really the style I wanted, but at least they zipped up. I want a huge, dramatic look to my dress, but the styles I love are only designed for thinner brides with smaller cup sizes. It’s really unfortunate.
So jealous. When I got married I had like 12 dresses to choose from because I was a size 16. I never even thought about looking at the other dresses because it wasn't offered to me. There were hundreds of dresses in the smaller sizes.
When I was 25, I had no idea that size was a thing. This one didn’t fit? Adjust it. I tried on three dresses, chose the first one. I was so cheap that I just bout higher heals (dyed to match) so I didn’t have to have ‘all that’ hemmed. I had No idea that I was a privileged off the rack size, when I wasn’t looking for it. I lost my husband of almost 44 years just 40 years ago. I still have that dress in a box. Wish I had my late husband. Girls? Enjoy everything you can. Yes!
I wear a size 8 jeans but I’m like a size 12 in dresses and it really damages your confidence to have to keep pulling bigger sizes to get a good fit. I would have never considered myself plus size and I can only imagine how hard it is for brides to feel that sort of pressure to look a certain way. Yikes.
i hope ill have that experience this wednesday. I am a size 18 and i am super scared that i will leave my appointment crying

I live in England, I ordered my wedding dress off ebay because I'm so embarrassed and dreading going into bridal shops...I'm a size 16 ish and literally no where in my town even sell a plain t shirt in my size
That's a damn shame. Shame on the stores in your area especially! You should definitely be able to find stores that sell 16s! In the US the 'regular' sizes go up to 18. After that you're in the plus sizes. Maybe you should open your own shop...?

Hi babe, I also live in England , I am a size 18 and can shop in most stores, I don't know where you live but not being able to buy a 16 in your town is shameful. As far as I am concerned a size 16 is very normal, curvy girls are in at the moment, we have hips, bums and boobs lets show them off!

Some bridal salons are not friendly to plus sizes brides. Some women have really bad experiences with bridal salons. Well more with the staff...

Look at the arms. You are right the are not overly large but the arms are telling if someone is a size 12 or higher.
The fact plus size is considered 14 is sad. I would say a 24+ is plus size because thats even hard to find at walmart sometime

Ok. I guess I am spoiled by how they shoot curvy brides uk (Al and Jo are amazing). I thought I would at least see the brides in their dresses. With the exception of one or two VERY brief utility shots (from behind as the train or veil is adjusted, to display the reveal skirt, or walking at a distance) they were all shot in mid-waist to close-up. There were no full length glamor shots of any of them just looking beautiful in their dresses. DoP, get on that!

Im a size 10 uk and im pretty thin,
I got married back in 1987 and was a size 16 I went to a bridal shop in Westport, Connecticut and was treated like absolute garbage. I am so glad that there are shops like this that are waking up to the fact that average sized women are perfectly acceptable!
A 14 should be normal! But, gosh, all 3 women were beautiful and I am so glad for the specialty shops.

It's NYC for one and two, most dresses are over $1k base price these days, unless you go shopping at a boutique that specializes in off brand dresses or last year's styles.
I know how these women feel...I didn't even want the embarrassing experience for going into a shop and not finding anything for me so I had my friend make my dress and on the day I felt so beautiful and not even like I was a plus size bride...
