I think that the realistic guns were confirmed to be just place holders and never actually meant to be in the finalized game. Also, I think at one point, I think Funky Kong was confirmed to be Diddy's father, but I haven't been able to find any source for this information for a long time. It might not be the case since Diddy does refer to Funky by name in DK64. But then again Donkey Kong refers to Cranky by name despite being his grandfather.
