I guess that’s something else l’ll need my credit card for… at least my baseboards have actually been progressing this weekend so I just might have somewhere to run some locos again soon. Great job yet again Chris.
Excellent news and a great How-to video Peachy. Just what I'll need when my J50 and 08 arrive in a few months. Unfortunately the Hornby BT 6 pin decoder is still a long way off and the standard 6 pin doesn't support a stay alive. It seems the AE Model 6 pin decoder does have a simple plug in connection for these power banks and would be the way to go. Or maybe wait and see what their Nano 6 pin decoder has to offer when it appears soon. As ever, thanks for your hard work.
One more video please Peachy. Give me that flying Scotsman/Easterner with the tramfabriek stayalive how-to video! I've ordered it, but it's not arrived yet, and I'm a coward when it comes to modifying the locos. So seeing you doing it without cutting things will give me some confidence, for sure. Pretty please...? 😁
@@PeachyTT120 I became overwhelmed with braveness and tried it myself. I managed to slide the circuit board under the hm7000, and then put the capacitors at the space just beyond the end of the HM7000. Slightly tight fit, but it worked perfectly first time and I didn't have to cut or modify anything at all on the loco. Thanks for addressing this issue in general. It's nice there is now a solution for cowards like me who don't want to cut or otherwise modify the locomotives in a non reversible way.
Thanks for this. A great help! I got a TT120 markering email from Hornby today. Was quick to give my feedback. Hope you'll encourage your viewers to do the same.
Good news from DCC CONSEPTS , any chance they could get one up on hornby and create a Bluetooth 6 pin Decoder, 🤯don’t think hornby are bothered anymore, letting a lot of there own customers down,
@@StephenLarbey I’ve already discussed this with them. They’re opinion is that although on the face of it, the idea of Simon K to “hook’ people with a free app and very cheap 6pin Bluetooth decoder was a good idea, unfortunately it was technically flawed. The 6 pin apparently can’t really support Bluetooth effectively enough (DCC concepts opinion) I’m going to do an “idiots guide” style video of how to install the 8pin in the 08 and hopefully the J50 when I get my hands on one.
Finally got my new stay alives and tried this. Thanks for the guidance on where to put the capacitors. I must admit on my Duchess and A3 were a tight fit. Particularly my A3 which doesn’t have a pre fitted speaker anymore and therefore has a lot of wires underneath the PCB! Managed it in the end though. How far we come from the “coal overs” which is still my solution on the A4
@@trevorbellTT120 hello Trevor, BlackTack, has a stronger adhesion, and a can cope with higher temperatures than blue and pretty much always stays soft.
I don't think the Bluetooth connection stays active for 13 seconds. When all the sounds disappears, I think the software is just delaying showing the loss of the connection.
@@macnavi yeah it’s hard one to judge/time although in my experience if slide a loco back off of the tape, it comes alive again. If done at 12.59 secs? Probably not. But then I don’t tend to have any 12” long dead spots during normal running 🤣
@@PeachyTT120 That's why the measurement of the loss of signal is not important, in my opinion. Even after 6 seconds, when the stayalive gave all its power, and then restoring the power to the track, you probably will see the controller will not be able to control the decoder. It will have to reconnect. I can't test this, but I expect that behaviour.
