*A big thank you to Pierrick Demaude who pointed out that I wasn't scoring the pavilions at the end of each round! Somehow I had totally missed that in the rules! The AI will also be scoring for the pavilions that it took that round (with no limit to the number it can take each round) and I addressed that in a second version of the solo rules. One additional note: I should have subtracted one point at the end of the game for the tree garden expansion I had remaining in my storage! Sorry about that!*
This was a great watch! Love solo play Sundays and would enjoy seeing more of your solo variants. I also think that the charitable aspect of solo play Sundays is incredible! 🥳
Thank you for checking out my solo playthrough! I have a playlist on my channel for all my Solo Play Sundays and there'll be many more to come! 😊 (Please let me know if there's a game you'd like me to do a solo playthrough of sometime! I'll see what I can do!) And it's been nice to be able to do some good with my channel plus it gives me extra incentive to get a high score!
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you appreciate the variant! I’ve done Solo Play Sundays for two of the other Azuls using a great and simple variant by Ricky Royal that’s definitely worth checking out! But maybe I will do some more of my own solo variants down the road! ☺️
Thank you so much for checking out the video, Monique! I know from your Top 10 video that you LOVE heavy euro games and so many of those games are coming out with solo modes these days! It’s a perfect time to get into solo gaming! (A Feast for Odin is my favorite game of all time and it’s so much fun to play solo! I know that’s one of your favorites, too!) ⚔️
Thank you for the suggestion, Bryan! Fantastic Factories is a game I’m not super familiar with but I’m looking at it right now on BGG and it looks like a fun engine/tableau-building game! I’ll have to give that a try sometime! 🏭
Oh my goodness! The first super chat EVER on this channel! Thank you so, so much! What should I put this $1.00 toward? A new board game...? Some metal coins...? 🤔 I really appreciate the support! Thank you again!
Just discovered your channel and I LOVE your vibe and energy!! And I really enjoyed this play through!! Now I’m about to check out more of your videos and subscribe 😊😊 Keep up the GREAT work!! And I love how you bring other causes to light to donate to! ❤️

Is there a game in particular that you'd like to see a solo playthrough of?

And I’m SOO excited to try it myself 😊😊 I doubt I’ll beat your score though LOL! And don’t worry about “rules goofs” it’s all part of learning the game and are made by the best of gamers too 😊 (They are the reason Rahdo says to turn on the “Klingons” LOL) As far as another solo play through I’ll have to have a gander through my game closet and give it some thought 😊😊
@@bridgetmartin4269 I saw your comment on that video! I love that solo variant; it's so simple and straightforward and I couldn't believe that I was able to film the whole thing in just 15 minutes! Definitely a nice little puzzle to play solo when you don't have a lot of time! (I'm sure you could beat my score, though! I'm not a great Azul player... I found that out on Board Game Arena!) 😅 And perhaps I should start using Klingon subtitles for my solo playthrough videos! @@BoardGameDave I saw it 😊😊 Thank You!! And as far as game suggestions I was about to recommend Targi then I noticed you did it YAY!! Can’t wait to watch that video! It might not hurt to actually also do a solo of the rest of the Azuls 😊 Another game that might be neat as a solo is “The Quest for Eldorado”. It’s a neat deck builder race game. Have you heard of it? It’s an “older” one 😊
Thank you for your comment! I’m not sure I understand your question unfortunately! If it’s about the solo variant you can find links in the description and you can find rules for the game online as well! If you have a more specific question I’d be happy to help! ☺️
The one rule that makes no sense to me (in the regular game as well as here) is how can the light blue tree be placed next to the yellow butterflies. It doesn’t compute for me with the overall aspect of the game (similar groupings)
Haha, I wasn't sure exactly what you were trying to say at first, but I totally understand now! It is a little strange to see two completely different tiles adjacent to each other like that! 😅 I guess you just get used to it after a while!
Hey there, Sylvain! I haven’t filmed it yet, but I think I would basically use the same AI system I used for Stained Glass of Sintra, if you want to check out that playthrough! (It’s the one for base Azul by Box of Delights with just a minor tweak or two.) I’ve been meaning to do Summer Pavilion for a Solo Play Sunday so I’ll have covered the entire Azul series; I’ll do that one soon!
@@BoardGameDave Hi Dave! Thank you so much for honor my request very fast. The solo mode for Summer Pavilion looks so nice. I'm going to try it right now! 😀
@@sylvaincoron4763 Sounds great! Thank you for suggesting I do a solo playthrough of Summer Pavilion! Let me know what your score was if you get the chance! ☺️
Wow, that's so cool, you made your own solo variant for this boardgame! It was so much fun watching this episode of solo play sunday! 😊 Unfortunately, I have none of the Azul games (yet). I only have played the first "normal" Azul once. So which one is your favourite and why?
Thank you so much for checking out this solo playthrough, Yasmin! I really appreciate your enthusiasm! 😊 I've actually made solo variants for a few games in the past but this is only the second one I've ever shared publicly! (The other one was for a game called Tribes: Dawn of Humanity.) And I'm really enjoying Queen's Garden so far but it is fairly complex, as you may have figured from the playthrough! I think perhaps Summer Pavilion might be the perfect balance of strategically interesting without being too heavy and it plays very intuitively! I really enjoy Stained Glass of Sintra too... but the original Azul is great as well! 😅 That probably didn't help at all... I suppose it depends if you're looking for heavy/light, relaxing/tense, etc.! What did you think about the original Azul? Do you feel like you'd prefer this one?
@@BoardGameDave Oh, that's awesome! I think, I couldn't come up with my own solo variant of a boardgame, although I wish I could! 😄 Actually, I have no idea what I'm looking for and I even don't know with whom I'd play it 😅So for myself I would maybe like something heavier, but if I want to play it with my family it should definitely be something light... Do all of the Azul games have (good) solo variants? And would you recommend buying it as a mainly solo game? Or is it better with 2 or more players? I think I liked playing the original, but I don't remember it a lot since it's been a while. And from your solo playthrough I liked it, but Queen's Garden now also looked very interesting, so I'm curious about how the other two are! 😄
Oh, I'm sure that you could! It's kind of just like house ruling a game so you can play by yourself! 😊 If you're looking for a heavier solo game there are probably many better options that are catered toward the solo experience. (None of the Azul games have an official solo variant, unfortunately!) If you're looking for an Azul game to play with your family, I would recommend the first one! That one is much lighter than Queen's Garden and lighter than Stained Glass and Summer Pavilion, too! The original Azul is on BGA if you'd like to give it another try to see what you think! Maybe they'll eventually add the other two on there as well!
For the AI, yes! You’re just going to give the AI 1-3 points for every tile that it has based on the scoring/round tracker! Hope that answers your question! ☺️
Hi Dave, I really enjoyed the Solo Variant and have done a german translation of it, so more people can profit from it. But at one one point I got a little lost in translation, so maybe you can help: How many garden expansion tiles can the AI take per round? Is that 2 per round? As you write "there ist no limit to tiles or garden expansions it can take per round". But you also write "AI cannot choose a set that would cause it to take a garden expansion beyond the two it may already have"? Would it be ok for you if i upload the german translation at BGG? (I need your consent to do it)
