Right? It’s so tiny and adorable! 😂 I can’t wait to find out more about it! I’m all for a quick, small-box version of GWT! 🏜️ Thanks for checking out the video, Emma!
Those are your Minos photos! I wasn't paying attention but I should have figured from the interesting lighting and attention to detail-your pictures are always stunning! ☺️ Do you ever work with publishers to take photos for them? 📷
Great list! I'm also hyped for GWT El Paso, Minos, Skara Brae, and Black Forest. I'll have to check out Middle Ages too. Other most-anticipated games for me... Ones I backed: Tabriz, Cyclades Legendary Edition, Rebirth, Illiad & Ichor, Everdell Duo, Railroad Tiles, ORBIT Others: Big Sur, Galactic Cruise, does SETI count since I think it's not quite to retail in US? I've also seen several announcements for duel games. Azul Duel... another from a popular franchise I can't remember.
Hey, Dale! So many great games to look forward to! And I'm not surprised that we have a lot of overlap! Maybe we'll find out more about some of those newer/not-yet-released games at PAX this year? ☺️ And you've given me a lot of new titles that I haven't even heard of-I'll have to check out all the ones on your list! (Dude, Galactic Cruise is AMAZING. You're going to love it!) 🚀 And I forgot about Azul Duel... that seems interesting although (like everyone's been saying) Azul already plays so well at two players! In fact, Hannah and I are about to play Azul: Summer Pavilion right now! (She's been on a winning streak lately!)
@@BoardGameDave Nice! I will be at PaxU on Sat & Sun, mostly working but should have time for a game too. You're right that Azul is already great at 2p. I also recently played the Lord of the Rings Duel game, and it lives up to the hype. Good luck in Summer Pavilion! I've been loving the modern Knizia designs lately. Cascadero & Cascadito were big hits for me, so Orbit, Revive, Illiad, and Ichor are at the top of my most anticipated.
Dale, I'm so bummed I didn't get to see you at PAX this year! 😰 I hope we get a chance to connect soon! And my friend literally just texted me about Cascadero; I love the Ian O'Toole art! I'll have to look into that one and Cascadito some more! Thanks for those recommendations and for your most-anticipated list; those haven't been on my radar at all!
Black Forest- Yes! Rosenberg has become my fav designer, so I'm stoked for this. I was lucky enough to get a pre-order copy of the new Yokohama with deluxe bits. It is fantastic and has been played every game session for the last 3 or 4 weeks. The deluxe metal coins are a bit disappointing, but the wooden resources do look and feel nice. I use a Japanese theme coin set I got from Etsy for this game.
He's one of my absolute favorites as well-probably in my top three of all time! I'm equally stoked about Black Forest! 🌲 And I'm so glad you've not only gotten Yokohama (with the deluxe bits!) but that you've been able to play it so much! I'm bummed to hear that the coins aren't so great... but that's why it's always nice to have your own thematic backup sets, right? 🤣 Which Etsy set do you have?
@@BoardGameDave I have the Japanese Themed Gaming Coins by TheBrokenToken. The 35, 25 and 20 mm coins are perfect. No denominations, but the size and colors are distinct enough that it doesn't matter. Their selection is crazy. I also use coins from TokensGarden; the ones with a flower/vine motif. Perfect for Rosenberg games.
Wow, those look awesome! (I'm on the Broken Token site right now!) Beautiful coins for sure! 😍 I had never heard of Tokens Garden but I'm checking out their products right now-thank you for the recommendation! ☺️
Great list, Dave!! I have Middle Ages and it's a great game for all the reasons you mentioned. Happy to bring it to PAX if you want to try out the physical copy! :)
Hey, Marcus! Thanks for checking out the video! 👋🏼 And I would love to play Middle Ages with you at PAX! Let’s make it happen! 🏰 (I’ll bring some metal coins!) 😂
@@BoardGameDave Ooh I love metal coins! Yes, let's definitely coordinate and plan this! Another game I want to play is Everdell Newleaf, but I don't think I can bring all that on a plane lol
I do, too! 🪙 Why don’t you message me on Insta and we’ll figure out a day/time to play? (I haven’t signed up for a single event so my whole weekend is free!) And I can bring Everdell+Newleaf since I’ll be driving up! I’m excited! 🍁
Hmm I’ll have to look into GWT El Paso. First I’d heard of it. I’m all for games with shorter playtimes that still have meaty decisions. Coincidentally I just played Black Forest yesterday. Don’t think it was for me but I can certainly see the appeal for gamers who like Uwe’s resource conversion games.
I'm very excited about El Paso as well-can't wait to find out more about it! 🏜️ And I'm sorry Black Forest wasn't a good fit for you... it's certainly not for everyone! But I love Uwe Rosenberg's games as a rule and for as much as I love Glass Road I can't imagine I won't really enjoy Black Forest, too! Thanks for the comment! ☺️
Oh man…if they can reduce the complexity and play time of GWT, I’m all for that. I have GWT 2d, enjoy it but doesn’t get played because I don’t like teaching it.
Right? I'm so excited to see how they pull it off-there's only one picture of the components on BGG but the board is so adorably tiny! 😅 I can't wait to find out more about the game! (I love playing GWT but I also do not particularly enjoy teaching it! I remember teaching it at a convention last year and it's a doozy for sure!) 😣
You haven't played Great Western Trail? Oh my word, Joe, you don't know what you're missing! 🏜️ But yes, El Paso seems like a fantastic "gateway" to the GWT universe! Can't wait to find out more about it!
Yes, Yokohama!! 🇯🇵 Thank you so much for putting that game on my radar-I’m still so excited to play it in person! ☺️ I haven’t looked into Oranienburger Kanal too much but based on first impressions I’m much more interested in Black Forest! (Although I wouldn’t turn down any Rosenburg game, of course!)
@ Oranienburger Kanal is fantastic solo. And with two! I am very curious about Black Forest. And I also love Endless Winter! I need to play it more…. like most of my games! 😂
I'm sure I would love Oranienburger Kanal but it seems very hard to find and also quite expensive! 😳 I'm very happy with Black Forest right now! Between that, Glass Road, and A Feast for Odin, I've got plenty of Rosenberg goodness! 😌
Woah GWT El Paso! Bring it on! - for real excited about every one of these games.
Right? It’s so tiny and adorable! 😂 I can’t wait to find out more about it! I’m all for a quick, small-box version of GWT! 🏜️ Thanks for checking out the video, Emma!
Nice work as always- a fun watch. And the cat… 🤘🤘
Thank you, Rob! ☺️ She’s so cute, right? And “exceptionally soft”, as my dad memorably said once! 🐈⬛
