If you keep getting the spinning ball no matter what you try your hard drive is most likely fucked (failing). I Don't know why this isn't said more often because it is the common cause of so spinning ball problems.

30 seconds into this video, actually right when Ricky barked, my screen turned to snow (like the old TVs) and then went black. It turned back on but what the heck was that? I also live in northern CA and we are taking a beating from this weather so I thought it was acting up because of the internet, but man, I think somethings wrong with my Mac. :(
are you god-i was ready to take my mac back in to get rid of ball from hell, like i have to at least once a year, when i went to utube-----gave you a try for help---did what you said (what did I have to lose, fed up with my mac). well, you fixed my mac, no ball in 2 days now, i mean it is a miracle. NO BALL I REALLY MEAN NO BALL--------i thank you from the bottom of my heart
its a nice way to make a mac run fast for sure. if this doesnt work for some reason there is usually dust build up or something wrong with the os. thanks for making me seem useful!!! :)
