I’m pretty sure Dragon Ball Hero’s (the arcade/card game) came before this and is where those concepts such as Mira and the Time Patrol actually originate from. DBO and Xenoverse are both essentially here because we have Dragon Ball Heroes

As someone who has played DBO I can agree with you on this video. DBO has a lot of potential and it is good to know the people working on it are still doing a great job. This also goes to show the lack of faith the eastern game studios have in the projects they work on since they chose to monetize them to death and barely give them a chance before. It is a real shame.
@@TakeshiInazuma I played in the Taiwan server and while I had fun, it felt like the game was somewhat limited or didn't reach its potential. I liked all the mechanics (even the possibility of gear getting broken when you were upgrading it) but it was somewhat hard to get decent gear. Once I had something decent, I'd treasure it and only upgrade it up to +6 if I could. So I like this change of guaranteed upgrade, since the upgrade stones have a low drop rate. And the fact they can be crafted is cool to. The gems to give extra stats to gear is a welcome change. Works better and is more useful than those dogi balls you would obtain that gave stats to the dogis and such. The fact that you obtain Tokens by slayig mobs or doing quests is cool in my opinion. Better than receiving just for being online each 15 minutes. All around, I think the changes made in this particular project are very welcome ones.

This video gave me so many feelings, I remembered when I was 13 and playing the Taiwanese version and all the dialogues and quests were in traditional Mandarin, what's funny now is that I ended up to study Chinese for few years and after 12 years (since the first time I played dbo) I can understand that Chinese dialogues . Played the game in Taiwan version between 2010 and 2012, this was so fun. Back in the day this MMO was quite popular in the community I think. A lot of people were happy when Xenoverse 1 was announced since it has similarities
While watching this I noticed more and more how well a Dragonball MMO writes itself. It's such a cool idea, and such a shame that we never got this in the west. I HOPE that this will expand more and more, big props to the devs! One thing I wonder about, maybe someone who's played this more can tell me: Do the Endgame PVE instances actually have interesting mechanics? The classes seem to at least have a ton of typical abilities, if this plays somewhat smoothly and has good mechanics I could totally see myself play this for a while.

This looks like so much fun ! Was a bit disappointed to see it's not fully translated yet and that this is a fan project (meaning it's probably never gonna be finished) but the game itself and the theme is really amazing , might still give this a shot !
It was an official videogame from taiwan and korea but they closed servers in 2013. I played 2 years it was an excellent game ! Now we can still play on private server but it's quite empty, bo more than 300 people is playing currently
We've got it around 2/3 translated into English, but yeah it's a lot of work. That said, I will finish this, if it's the last thing I do. I'm too stubborn to do otherwise, haha
After finishing translation, do you imagine getting more development team members for content? Like, dragon ball arcs that are not in the game for example. I feel its possible to do, players might have to put up with non voiced cut-scenes, but more content would bring more players in. @@DBOGRevival
This looks incredible. Every few years I go back and play an old school DBZ MUD. This looks like something I could get lost in. It is indeed surprising that it didn't get a western release. A lot of the DBO communities are still actually pretty active. DBOG (Dragon Ball Online Global) is the most popular. The forums, discord and game are still extremely active. There's apparently gonna be new stuff added to the game for the first time in almost 10 years. (New classes, new transformations). So honestly if you were to hop on, now would be the time. Especially if you like MUDs, this is taking that to the next level
Yeah what made it die was lack of a fan base outside of Korea where it was launched and the lack of content added after release. It was so hyped back in 2013

Thanks for the video. I always loved this game, so seeing someone appreciate it and talk about it is really nice! Most people on youtube that have covered it don't play a ton of it and drop it so seeing someone actually do an in depth coverage is really nice.
I played this originally when it came out by buying an account, and man, even though I didn't understand anything due to everything being in Korean, I genuinely loved it and playing with my brother I'm glad it is being revived, it's such a good game

I wonder if they ever added the planned Inventor Class that never got added to the game before it shut down. They were going to use guns, gadgets, Robot assistants and power armour from what I remember.
We're planning on adding that long term, but for now we're trying to work through all the technical issues and get the game stable and bug free, before we start adding new things. Have to fix what's here first, before we add onto it!
I was watching that beginning bit and thinking, wow for 2013 those graphics are really good, then the actual in game graphics showed and I was like ....oh.
The renderware graphics are a bit outdated for sure, but for us that's part of the charm. Even if we switched graphics engines, I don't think we would update them too much.
Designing a Dragon Ball mmo is something my mind has wandered to many a time. Pretty sure a Dragon Ball mmo that can handle the large powerscaling directly from the series, all the transformations, and make it fun in long term is one of my dream games.
You should do comedy playthrues of clastic choice driven rpgs like : Vampire bloodlines Fallout (any of them) Alpha protocol Cyberpunk Elder scrolls UnderRail Encased BG3...ect Your style of humor reminds me of a more family friendly Game Society Pimps witch I love

Watched this video a few weeks ago and it made me real eager to play DBO, I have a level 44 Karma Majin now and have been loving the journey through the game!
The algorithm reccommended me this video, and it persuaded me to try the game out. It has no business being this much fun! Can't believe it. It's weirdly very relaxing to play to. +1 new player and +1 new subscriber
This might be helpful for future videos or updates to this one--if you run into untranslated quests, launch Google Lens on your phone and hold the screen up to the text box. This is what I used to do when playing Shin Megami Tensei IMAGINE (RIP). If you know the basic mechanics of the game you're playing, you can usually understand the translation well enough.
For games like DBO or XV, the majin race come from majin buu typically coming across hercules porn stash, or seeing hercule spending time with videl Buu decides he wants a partner/family, makes them like he did with evil buu, and it keeps on goin
It became a race. The lore is, Mr. Buu found some of Hercules... magazines. It made him want a family of his own. So he broke a part of himself off, and molded a wife named Boobie. (Not a joke. Toriyama wrote this backstory for DBO) He then hit her with his "love love beam" thus granting her life and her own sentience. And the Majin race was born. The males take after Mr. Buu (Boo in Japanese), being on the tubby side, while females take after Boobie.. who was naturally molded off of...... models.
Isn't it fully translated already? Anyway, for me this ship has sailed. I used to play with friends and enjoyed the journey a lot, at least until we got to lvl 50+, and then the only way to level up was by farming the same time machine quest. It was really tedious and boring. Then the game shut down, accounts got deleted. Unofficial servers are there, but am I willing to do all that farming, all over again?... No thanks.
@@fandbzgt100 At the time it was a fan patch which only translated skills,menu,main story and some monster names. I bet this private server just grabbed the same incomplete translations.
That’s exactly what they did, they haven’t even bothered to use a translator or make something for the game like using DeepL or anything like that, they just leave the game Open half finished with a fully functional cash shop to buy cosmetics and power boosts
yet another revival, but will it last? the other one died and went offline a while back. even kept it on my hard drive for awhile in the hopes the server would come back but had to face facts, it was gone and never coming back.
On DBO, I remember playing it back when it was still active in China/Korea and loved it even though it... really was a generic MMO. I do know that a lot of DBO's assets, lore and stuff were re-used for Dragon Ball Xenoverse. I'd love to see DBO be remade as a more faithful MMO to the Dragon Ball series, because, as of right now, it really is just a generic MMO with Dragon Ball slapped onto it. Combat's super simple and is just like any other MMO in the late 2000's and early 2010's, quest system is... also just like every other MMO in the late 2000's and early 2010's. Story's decent, but characters are largely forgettable. The way to age up is pretty shoe-horned in and the skill system is ALSO just like every other MMO in it's time. ALSO, due to how this MMO never reached Europe and the Americas, translation is pretty damn fucked so it's easy to get confused. For the Albion sponsor, I've played Albion and it's... fine. I don't like that PvP is mandatory and it really functions as a worse Runescape. Doesn't mean it's bad, but, seriously, if you want a MMO like Albion, just play Runescape.

Love your content fam every video is always a 10/10 After finishing the video gotta say this game would of done so well if it got a western release, or maybe it was a good thing? Now that a dedicated group who is also moving away from gotcha mechanics makes it even more promising. Definitely an mmorpg that I could see myself playing and not get bored of.
for the AD: My only problem with Albion Online is that it isn't solo player friendly. If you are not in a guild then you are going to have a very slow start. If you aren't at least with some friends, you aren't gonna do much in the game with the sandbox stuff since everything is taken I believe for you to try and do. For the Video: I remember when Dragon Ball Online was out and I always got hyped rewatching the trailers for it since they were well animated (better than Dragon Ball Super Heroes animation most of the time). Xenoverse felt like the official successor to the game but it wasn't a true MMO and was like a bootleg version of BT/Sparking series with its own arena fighting mechanics. I don't know if I would give it a shot now since I think it should have gotten reworked to be an action mmorpg for more freedom in the combat but it still looks good and I'm glad that there are fans out there who managed to bring the game to life for all those who loved it.
I remember when I was way younger wanting to play this but I could never get the game to launch. Great to see that it's still kicking! I'll be sure to give it a honest try sometime soon

idk why they don't release more games like this globally instead of locally. This game would've done AMAZING here in America. Especially in the early 2000s.
I played the English version of this game about 7 years ago. From your review, it hasn't changed that much aside from some small updated UI choices. Hopefully there are less untranslated NPCs now. My biggest problem was how bugged the higher level missions were. Some high level time missions in particular would bug out so bad you would be forced to quit out of the game completely to get out of them. I played through a couple complete server resets before I realized the issues I had weren't being addressed, which is why I eventually just gave up.
Long term I hope to open up a couple more servers around the world, but it's going to be a bit for that. As you can imagine, getting a game this size pointed in the right direction takes a lot of effort for a small team, but we'll get there!
idk about this game though I think it's not easy to get gear unless u have a party to get decent end game gear plus afterwards u gotta re roll stats just like the og game yeah i dont think ill go back to that it was stressful but whoever does enjoy ^^
That's still (somewhat) true, but we've done a lot of unbinding of late game items to make them tradable and help keep the game's economy rolling. Because of that, it's more possible to get what you need as a solo player by getting it from trading, private shops, and the auction house. We have a few future changes planned to make the game more palatable for solo players as well!
This is great but it just made me realize in the new xenoverse 2 trailer fu says they are traveling to the future which based on the lore would be dragon ball online or a version of it because when online came out Mira and towa were the villains and fu was meant to succeed them they all originated here
thankfully, there's plenty of EXP boosters (and many other things) in the points store (the ones you get by just playing). Also people keep selling Lvl. Ups constantly on the auction house while also buying nearly anything from there as well
Mitch, While I do appreciate all of the jokes you could always fit into these videos. I do have a suggestion for you, would you consider adding text (visible subtitles) into these? Especially during the attempt of the joke. Personally, I would think it could improve the amount of jokes you tried to land. No offense on how your voice sounded, of course. Such a voice could only be blessed by angels.
@@MitchManix Yes, 12:30 is a good example of it. I felt that the joke landed more simply because of the subtitle. I'm not sure how most would view it, but having these kinds of "Subtitled segments" once in a while, would be a neat little experiment to have.
Its really annoying they kept this game exclusive to certain regions which the reason i must assume some deal or thinking the west or oceanic wouldn’t want to play it. I bet if they brought this game back today this would be hugely popular if they handle the relaunch correctly but knowing bandai how they handle online games would screw it up and make pricing too much
I tested it back then with a friend who was also a big fan of Dragon Ball and it was so annoying to play that we stopped after 2 to 4 hours. Good ideas and being in the DB universe was great but damn the gameplay was so slow and the effects so flat, even the world was quite empty... Western countries didn't lost anything actually. We got way better MMOs. That game really needed a whole new version, a more modernized one.
They did already, in a much smaller, safer, and cost effect way. Dragon Ball Xenoverse. It shares most of the same story and characters from DBO. You can expect Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3(if it ever gets developed) to be more like DBO.
DBO was really poppin back in the early 2010s, so much so that sometimes the servers would be flooded with players, making it impossible to login. The guild wars were also crazy too. They shutdown the servers around 2013 - 14. We really need to heavily sponsor DBOG and spread it everywhere to rebuild the player base back. 🔥
I would pay for a DBZ single player game if it allowed you to make a custom character with a whole in-world story and all this. Dunno why the mmo only lasted a few years.
If you think about it, I lowkey think it’s because we ended up getting Battle of Z which was like an alpha version of Xenoverse 1 and that’s more or less debatable on being a beta version of what Online could have been
Lol my friend and I managed to get into the Korean version with a patch that translated the menu some. It was fun, but had the typical shortcommings of a Korean MMO.
Dude! I remember seeing this game years ago in a magazine and looked up some of the teaser trailers. I always thought it was canceled and never came out. And I just kind of forgot about it. I never knew it was an exclusive. This was really cool to actually see some gameplay!

I really feel that if OG DBO took the time to make the journey to the west, it might still be alive today.

Well the main reason why it was removed was due to their use of Rasengan, which wasn't allowed.

The endgame dungeon mechanics aren't terribly robust (yet) but we're getting there! It's still a bit rough at the edges.

I was watching that beginning bit and thinking, wow for 2013 those graphics are really good, then the actual in game graphics showed and I was like ....oh.
The renderware graphics are a bit outdated for sure, but for us that's part of the charm. Even if we switched graphics engines, I don't think we would update them too much.

Designing a Dragon Ball mmo is something my mind has wandered to many a time.
Pretty sure a Dragon Ball mmo that can handle the large powerscaling directly from the series, all the transformations, and make it fun in long term is one of my dream games.

Watched this video a few weeks ago and it made me real eager to play DBO, I have a level 44 Karma Majin now and have been loving the journey through the game!
The algorithm reccommended me this video, and it persuaded me to try the game out. It has no business being this much fun! Can't believe it. It's weirdly very relaxing to play to. +1 new player and +1 new subscriber
This might be helpful for future videos or updates to this one--if you run into untranslated quests, launch Google Lens on your phone and hold the screen up to the text box. This is what I used to do when playing Shin Megami Tensei IMAGINE (RIP). If you know the basic mechanics of the game you're playing, you can usually understand the translation well enough.
Is Majun Buu even a race? I always thought he was some kind of space genie
Don't sneeze at the Majins, they're pretty strong in PvE. Spin to win!
For games like DBO or XV, the majin race come from majin buu typically coming across hercules porn stash, or seeing hercule spending time with videl
Buu decides he wants a partner/family, makes them like he did with evil buu, and it keeps on goin
It became a race. The lore is, Mr. Buu found some of Hercules... magazines. It made him want a family of his own. So he broke a part of himself off, and molded a wife named Boobie. (Not a joke. Toriyama wrote this backstory for DBO) He then hit her with his "love love beam" thus granting her life and her own sentience. And the Majin race was born. The males take after Mr. Buu (Boo in Japanese), being on the tubby side, while females take after Boobie.. who was naturally molded off of...... models.
And then came my *ULTIMATE WAIFU* ANDROID 21.

Anyway, for me this ship has sailed. I used to play with friends and enjoyed the journey a lot, at least until we got to lvl 50+, and then the only way to level up was by farming the same time machine quest. It was really tedious and boring. Then the game shut down, accounts got deleted. Unofficial servers are there, but am I willing to do all that farming, all over again?... No thanks.
@@fandbzgt100 At the time it was a fan patch which only translated skills,menu,main story and some monster names.
I bet this private server just grabbed the same incomplete translations.
That’s exactly what they did, they haven’t even bothered to use a translator or make something for the game like using DeepL or anything like that, they just leave the game

yet another revival, but will it last? the other one died and went offline a while back. even kept it on my hard drive for awhile in the hopes the server would come back but had to face facts, it was gone and never coming back.
We're the oldest running server, so things seem to be lasting well enough. Fingers crossed we can last many more years!
On DBO, I remember playing it back when it was still active in China/Korea and loved it even though it... really was a generic MMO. I do know that a lot of DBO's assets, lore and stuff were re-used for Dragon Ball Xenoverse. I'd love to see DBO be remade as a more faithful MMO to the Dragon Ball series, because, as of right now, it really is just a generic MMO with Dragon Ball slapped onto it. Combat's super simple and is just like any other MMO in the late 2000's and early 2010's, quest system is... also just like every other MMO in the late 2000's and early 2010's. Story's decent, but characters are largely forgettable. The way to age up is pretty shoe-horned in and the skill system is ALSO just like every other MMO in it's time. ALSO, due to how this MMO never reached Europe and the Americas, translation is pretty damn fucked so it's easy to get confused.
For the Albion sponsor, I've played Albion and it's... fine. I don't like that PvP is mandatory and it really functions as a worse Runescape. Doesn't mean it's bad, but, seriously, if you want a MMO like Albion, just play Runescape.
The name of that first village is just the best thing ever.

After finishing the video gotta say this game would of done so well if it got a western release, or maybe it was a good thing? Now that a dedicated group who is also moving away from gotcha mechanics makes it even more promising. Definitely an mmorpg that I could see myself playing and not get bored of.

for the AD: My only problem with Albion Online is that it isn't solo player friendly. If you are not in a guild then you are going to have a very slow start. If you aren't at least with some friends, you aren't gonna do much in the game with the sandbox stuff since everything is taken I believe for you to try and do.
For the Video: I remember when Dragon Ball Online was out and I always got hyped rewatching the trailers for it since they were well animated (better than Dragon Ball Super Heroes animation most of the time). Xenoverse felt like the official successor to the game but it wasn't a true MMO and was like a bootleg version of BT/Sparking series with its own arena fighting mechanics. I don't know if I would give it a shot now since I think it should have gotten reworked to be an action mmorpg for more freedom in the combat but it still looks good and I'm glad that there are fans out there who managed to bring the game to life for all those who loved it.
I remember when I was way younger wanting to play this but I could never get the game to launch. Great to see that it's still kicking! I'll be sure to give it a honest try sometime soon

idk why they don't release more games like this globally instead of locally. This game would've done AMAZING here in America. Especially in the early 2000s.
Idk about that. A lot of games died or were massively hobbled by the launch of World of Warcraft. I can’t see DBO coming out of that unscathed.
I played the English version of this game about 7 years ago. From your review, it hasn't changed that much aside from some small updated UI choices. Hopefully there are less untranslated NPCs now. My biggest problem was how bugged the higher level missions were. Some high level time missions in particular would bug out so bad you would be forced to quit out of the game completely to get out of them. I played through a couple complete server resets before I realized the issues I had weren't being addressed, which is why I eventually just gave up.

Long term I hope to open up a couple more servers around the world, but it's going to be a bit for that. As you can imagine, getting a game this size pointed in the right direction takes a lot of effort for a small team, but we'll get there!
idk about this game though I think it's not easy to get gear unless u have a party to get decent end game gear plus afterwards u gotta re roll stats just like the og game yeah i dont think ill go back to that it was stressful but whoever does enjoy ^^
That's still (somewhat) true, but we've done a lot of unbinding of late game items to make them tradable and help keep the game's economy rolling. Because of that, it's more possible to get what you need as a solo player by getting it from trading, private shops, and the auction house. We have a few future changes planned to make the game more palatable for solo players as well!

This is great but it just made me realize in the new xenoverse 2 trailer fu says they are traveling to the future which based on the lore would be dragon ball online or a version of it because when online came out Mira and towa were the villains and fu was meant to succeed them they all originated here

thankfully, there's plenty of EXP boosters (and many other things) in the points store (the ones you get by just playing). Also people keep selling Lvl. Ups constantly on the auction house while also buying nearly anything from there as well

Mitch, While I do appreciate all of the jokes you could always fit into these videos. I do have a suggestion for you, would you consider adding text (visible subtitles) into these? Especially during the attempt of the joke.
Personally, I would think it could improve the amount of jokes you tried to land.

Its really annoying they kept this game exclusive to certain regions which the reason i must assume some deal or thinking the west or oceanic wouldn’t want to play it. I bet if they brought this game back today this would be hugely popular if they handle the relaunch correctly but knowing bandai how they handle online games would screw it up and make pricing too much

I tested it back then with a friend who was also a big fan of Dragon Ball and it was so annoying to play that we stopped after 2 to 4 hours. Good ideas and being in the DB universe was great but damn the gameplay was so slow and the effects so flat, even the world was quite empty... Western countries didn't lost anything actually. We got way better MMOs. That game really needed a whole new version, a more modernized one.

This would crush as an mmo too. Why Bandai hasn't tried to do this is beyond me. The fanbase is more than big enough.
They did already, in a much smaller, safer, and cost effect way. Dragon Ball Xenoverse. It shares most of the same story and characters from DBO. You can expect Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3(if it ever gets developed) to be more like DBO.
DBO was really poppin back in the early 2010s, so much so that sometimes the servers would be flooded with players, making it impossible to login. The guild wars were also crazy too. They shutdown the servers around 2013 - 14.
We really need to heavily sponsor DBOG and spread it everywhere to rebuild the player base back. 🔥

I would pay for a DBZ single player game if it allowed you to make a custom character with a whole in-world story and all this. Dunno why the mmo only lasted a few years.
If you think about it, I lowkey think it’s because we ended up getting Battle of Z which was like an alpha version of Xenoverse 1 and that’s more or less debatable on being a beta version of what Online could have been
Lol my friend and I managed to get into the Korean version with a patch that translated the menu some. It was fun, but had the typical shortcommings of a Korean MMO.

Dude! I remember seeing this game years ago in a magazine and looked up some of the teaser trailers. I always thought it was canceled and never came out. And I just kind of forgot about it. I never knew it was an exclusive. This was really cool to actually see some gameplay!
Another fun MMO revived by players. It'll be interesting to see how it goes as they finish up more of the translation :)

I remember hearing about this game so many years ago. A shame it was shut down. FfXIV takes up too much of my time to try it but maybe I’ll try it in the future.
