    I was going to give him credit for dismissing the idea that leavers were too thick, but it then became clear he actually thinks that neither set of voters were qualified, as they don't understand EU law, which just happens to be his subject. I hate to break to him but understanding EU law does not tell you if it is better for the UK to be independent or part of a larger block. His defence of his age based campaign was so halting, not only because he knew it didn't stand up, but because what he actually thinks is only lawyers are truly qualified to vote.

    Hold on mate , 24% of 18 to 35 year olds didn’t even vote so that means they couldn’t care less what happened in the future regarding the EU so don’t moan that 88% of older people did care.
    One other point he said if we left then later rejoined we would get a bad deal or not as good as now . that’s very mercenary & self centred for a EU we love each other europhile.
    He loves the EU why does he hate the Euro when he likes listening to those who said if we didn’t join the Euro we’d be in the poo and then just before the referendum said 800,000 on the dole within weeks of a leave vote . Not exactly much of a track record so far.
    The EU doesn’t sound very democratic according to him that depending on when you join means you don’t get equal terms.
    Where does the Union bit come in EU if everyone’s on different conditions depending on how long you’ve been in the club.
    Anyone who is saying it will be great is stupid but saying it’s going to be a disaster is equally stupid .
    What is a solid fact is that the UK can if it choose control it’s own destiny and not have it dictated by others.
    The 70 odd votes in terms of people represented is tiny with 1 MEP per 850,000 citizens
    Malta has 1 MEP per 60,000 citizens .
    That means that Malta should have 1 vote not 6 and all countries should have an MEP based on population size
    German has 96 MEP,s with a population 82 million.
    It all seems very unbalanced .

    • @firsteerr
      @firsteerr 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      he is obviously an idiot because joining the EU has a set of rules regardless of what or who the country are and all you have to do is meet that criteria to join there are no "deals" done , if there are then its just MORE proof of the corrupt EU

    • @alexmoisley1924
      @alexmoisley1924 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      His point about rejoining the EU is that we are currently protected by the EU during withdrawal negotiations as we are a member. We therefore have an equal footing to other member countries when negoriating. We WOULD unfortunately need to negotiate to rejoin as you need the approval of each member state to join the EU as well as needing to fulfil the set criteria. Therefore countries such as Spain are likely to try to veto this until they get things that they want out of it (for example Spain could ask for Gibraltar). We would also have to accept the Euro as a new member as well as become part of Schengen.

    • @alexmoisley1924
      @alexmoisley1924 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@firsteerr you are correct, however the key point that you miss is that applications to join the EU must be approved by every other EU member. Therefore there are likely to be negotiations with other countries such as France, Spain, Ireland etc who will try to rinse the UK dry. We will also have less influence and have to accept more things such as the euro, Schengen membership etc if re-joining

    • @desmondroberts6034
      @desmondroberts6034 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Johnny English You are admitting that the 'hatred of London' is irrational, since this region very substantially subsidizes the public services of those who live further a field. The notion of the 'London liberal elite' is a myth conjured and used very effectively by Leave campaigners and is a corrosive lie.
      I was literally dumbfounded whilst watching the referendum results when it became clear that e.g. Sunderland voted heavily to leave despite their major employer (Nissan) being crucially dependent on the Single Market and EU mandated subsidy (yes I understand that these are recycled British (or London) pounds). Wales voted out, presumably under the same delusion, even though most of their economy is public spending (London money).
      Your 'old man' may have paid a whole lot more tax than young Femi but, that's because he's much older and; consequently has benefited from a lot more public spending (including perhaps, tax cuts that we could ill-afford). Since we have a large national debt, we clearly have not paid enough tax over the decades.

    What Femi is missing is the way UK people vote on membership of the EU depends on the circumstances. Five years from this interview will be 2013 and the UK will have a new legal framework and new international trading arrangements. The question and circumstances would be very different: 'Should the newly independent UK join the EU?'

    The funny thing:, you always hear Remainers saying, '"It's the OLD people who voted Brexit." Well.. the truth is, when The Old Ones were YOUNG they were the ones who voted us IINTO the EEC on the 5th of June 1975 in the Referendum on the European Community (Common Market).

      But as with Ms Gray"s appointment with the Labour Party this week all questions that were relevant a few years ago were laughed - off by Labours front bench Rottweilers after P.M.s questions and yet most of Starmers questions are ancient history week after week . He talked about Partygate for 6 months ,but when his Partygate started to be a thing he turned to migrants and why they weren"t illegal .

    It’s been a month or two and we’ve made 60 odd trade deals and are looking at joining a new and better trade block.
    Yeah alright most of those deals were rollovers, but we can and will easily make deals with other counties. It won’t take years or decades. Nobody else is as slow, incompetent and useless as the EU. I wouldn’t use them as a gauge of how deals are made.
