I had to laugh at "auto sparkies", before I retired I was in structural, mechanical and piping design and we referred to the electrical group as sparkies. Cheers from Tomball Texas. You are certified OCD, you are a mate.
Shiiiett, such an unfathomable volume of water. Glad to see the project stayed safe and sound on higher ground, hope the rest of the neighbours and community are recovering well. Congrats on the first drive! Must have given you chills. We're edging ever closer to the same point, first drive in ~13 years. So exciting!
Thanks Mate. Was a great feeling that for sure. Even though it was just drive it out the shed it still felt so good to drive under its own power. Will be looking forward to seeing yours drive
Absolutely the best trip from an enthusiast with minimal experience progressing to an accomplished fabricator. But, there is always a "but", the steering is on the wrong side. Cheers from a yank, Tomball Texas. Oh just to gaff you a little bit, dump trucks have sides.
Great stuff Sam, I got goosebumps when you drove her out of the shed mate can’t wait to do the same with mine. Look forward to the finished product Cobb keep up the awesome work👍🏻🍻🍻🍻
Have been watching your vids on and off for a while now and have enjoyed watching. Your Ute looks really good man 🤙🏼 great work. Has changed the way I handle my projects and my attitude towards it.
Aww Shenke! I had a smile on my face the whole time I watched that. I remember the beginnings bro 😎 Loving your journey man! Love yer work! Crazy weather there, stay safe! 💪🏼😉
Awsome job man just finished watch the build videos about to start my own hz Tonner just up the road in Hervey Bay you have giving heaps of tips and ideas for my own build, can’t wait to see her finished keep up the good work
Hey mate love how your tonner looks I’m doing up a HJ tonner and was advised to make a two piece drive shaft do you get any vibration with your one piece
Great job as always Sam. 👍🏻 Glad you never got flooded out. What suburb are you in? I really feel for the people effected by the floods. Take care mate.
The time it takes the PS pump to spool up might have to do with the wiring. My understanding is that the black wire should see 12v on ignition and the blue/white wire should see 12v on start. If they are both wired to see 12v at the same time, it’ll spool slower. Only my understanding as I was researching this pump for a build. Please disregard if I’m totally off base.
I would love to know the total cost of this build as you haven’t missed a trick. You have done well from start to go. That colour still amazes me. Great job bro
He did an episode a while back where he added it all up minus labour. I think he came to a figure of around $170k..? Sam will correct me if I’m wrong there.
Hey Mate yeah I done a video around end of last year to finish up the year. Parts came to roughly 75K I think from memory. By the time its finished I would say parts would be 100K
I’ve enjoyed watching the build It’s turning out a treat, I’ve done a couple HQ’s full ground resto’s my self but I’ve never done welding though other than arc I reckon you should do a clip on welding for beginners
Like you enthusiasm and your ideas but I’m an resto mod guy….only my opinion …..but the original gts dash is one of the best dash’s in Australian automotive history…the one in your car wouldn’t have been my choice but we are all different I spose .My sons hx one Tonner has all the fruit and is finished with class without getting too far from the brand ….although it has a fuel injected 304 with a 4l60 but his tray is framed in stainless steel with wood and stands out ….worth considering? There’s a few short videos under my name on TH-cam At the rear it has a stainless drop down bracket on each side that mounts flush with the frame end crossmember and mounts the 3 led strip tail lights …tasteful without being Gordy …..I’ve seen some shockers of taillights on one Tonner Good luck with your build but I think traction and brake balance might be a issue when you get it on the road .
@@ShenkeGarage it will love to show you a photo I have of how we drove an xy gt we where building in the mid 70 20 lite thinner drum for seat But felt great just hunning down our street to keep us motivated 👍
@@ShenkeGarage I've got the same setup on my hz sedan, you'll love the brakes, you will use a little more pedal effort if your using the standard clevis pin point, but you'll be able to stomp on them with confidence they work a treat
@@frankbartolo5223 castlemaine rod shop mate, they get a great deal direct from wilwood, so it's cheaper to go through them then it is to buy direct from wilwood with shipping
Thanks Mate. I was going to run those wheels but I think they need updating to keep with the rest of the build. Im thinking something black and chrome....
I don't see any benefit in having a separate switch for the fuel pump. Why not just wire it all through the start button? Same for the ancillaries. Surely better to have the the lights ? wipers on stalks?
Yeah it probably would be better but this ute was not built with practicality in mind. The fuel pump you can also leave the button on so when you ignition on it will start pumping. The ability to turn it off can assist with diagnosing etc as you can turn the engine over without it starting.

We lost our house in the floods , still living in the bike / car shed to this day , good to see you where safe .
Hey Mate sorry to hear about that. It was such a random event. No one seen that one coming to prepare.
That colour gets me every time! F@cking well done mate, you've nailed the whole build and the attention to detail is super satisfying 👌👌
Thanks Mate. Appreciate it :)

Is the engine and trans a g.m. combo?. Looks like a Pontiac .? What is the cab, etc? Aussie vehicles are different than American vehicles.
Any chance you could share a link of your wiring harness. Have seen a couple of "Easy Harness" , it's like to be pretty decent
