I actually just thought about one interesting idea! Puzzle/pve-map, but requiring you to play it in a "hot-seat" mode (playing few colors turn after turn). Maybe even fighting yourself to achieve some specific goal? Or something like that. Im sure its possible to make something interesting out of it.
Each time it's funny that he can identify a building or unit from a single pixel of shadow, but he can't properly identify a place from a grail puzzle even from clear marks.
Do this for the map "Barren Lands". Its not a challange map, but its probably the best map in HOTA.
Yea, the infamous Barren Lands. It is something to challenging that I only win if my hero is Dracon, the Warrior.
@@typical_watcher4599 Its not an easy map, but its not that challanging either, especialy if you play as dungeon near the dragon dwelling at the start and manage to get it week 1 or 2.
That being said, I think that Barren Lands is a GREAT map because:
- Several skills are top tier that would normally not be that good, such as Mysticism, Sorcery(heroes with this specialty), Pathfinding, Navigation, Fire Magic, Water Magic, and probably more that I don't remember right now.
- You are allowed to play with some of the more OP stuff, like Cloak of Balanced King, Necropolis, the Exotic Dragons, Blade of Armagedon, Diplomat's Cloak(on a map with some insane monster quantities to get too, frankly diplo is a bit too OP in this map for my taste). All of them are hard to get, but you can get them.
- 3 spawning locations for all factions make the games differ from each other by quite a lot.
- You are almost forced to have 8 fully built heroes, which is great for the less experienced players since you won't rly need to do hero chaining. Its like playing with 1 hero, except you have 8.
- Inferno's Castle Gate suddenly makes sense as a building to make, and its quite strong too.
I don't play that much HOMM 3 fanmade maps, but I did play some, and I do play some other fanmade maps from other strategy games, such as Warcraft 3, AOE 2 an Starcraft 2, and honestly, Barren Lands is probably the best Map I have ever seen exactly because it was made so unlike all the others. By my experience people who make maps either make them puzzles, or make them in such a way where you are almost forced down a path laid down by the author of the map if you want to win. Barren Lands on the other hand only laid down the limitations of "No movement spells" and then let the player do wathever he sees fit. There are 100 ways to win the map, and none of them are forced on you by the author.
Barren Lands is a superb map.

It's a good map, but is it possible to find TP on the map? Like water walk in one quest. WW is also disabled, but you can found it in one quest, you must give 6 azure dragons for it. I search for it in maps editor, but didn't find it. It's ok to play without DD, fly and WW, but I hate play without TP, especially in big maps like that.
Why not use the expert scholar ability to teach town portal to all heroes?

Does anybody know how to have the different format for numbers, spell queue, armor setups etc?
if after battle with upgraded units you have all the spaces occupied the the skelies and liches would spawn upgraded
but You gain less amount upgraded units than normal

How to speed up movement of units in heroes 3 complete? In my case, they move soo slowly and I would like to achieve something similar what I have in Hota.
This is the reason necropolis is banned in huge maps. Just autocombat everything get gains 0 skills
