- In this video we track down a common problem associated with Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon vehicles with flex fuel engines with symptoms of a hard starting condition when cold or a flooded condition accompanied with an illuminated check engine light and stored codes P0141, P0161, P0172, P0175 and/or P0179. Seem be common issue ive seen on these older Chevy Tahoe and suburban is wiring hit the front driveshaft. That first spot i check anymore if check engine code for 02 sensor etc...Thanks for sharing

Excellent, very solid vehicle. This fault was induced through human error no fault of the manufacturer for sure.

I used contact cleaner on the sensor and the hard start went away as did the code. May not work for every repair, but, it's worth a shot seeing as the sensor is over 500 bucks alone.
Sometimes the simple things can cause a lot of grief!

i have an 09 and she's having a rough start. gotta hold the key until she turns over. no lights on the dash, remote start not working, idles between 500-600 rpm, revs up while slowing down (sometimes), using more gas than usual, sometimes has no get up and go (almost like she's hesitating) and has 430,000km. replaced the fuel pump, FCM,fuses and relays. any ideas?

Nice video. Now was the hard start fixed from just the harness fix? My 04 Tahoe Z71 just started hard starting randomly and wouldn’t start unless gas pedal pressed. I just put ethanol in the tank which I rarely do and it just started this on this tank. Guess I need to check my harness. I kinda want to pump all the fuel out and put in premium gas and see if problem returns or not. Maybe just too much ethanol or something.

I have -15 stft at idle both banks, with p0172 and p0175. Any idea?
Intake leak should pull high positive ltft which would show a lean condition. You mentioned it had a rich condition which should pull negative ltft. Am I missing something?
The wire rubbing on the u joint as Eric o From @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC would say there's your problem lady

Ooow im supprised that no electronic damage was done with those shorted wires, maybe that fuse went Pop early on when rubbing on the grounded driveshaft joint and saved 12 volts going up the wrong wires.

Yup, I won't buy one past '06. The 5.3's pre afm or dfm are damn near bulletproof.

Tim, I have 2014 Yukon XL 5.3 V8. The 7th cylinder is misfiring with a P0307 code. I pulled the spark plug on the 7th cylinder and replaced it. I actually changed all the spark plugs and wires and the coil that was bad that I changed was the 7th. A couple a days down the road I had another engine light come to find another code P0307 come up. I pulled that 7th cylinder spark plug and replaced it. I noticed oil is getting on the plug and seems to cause the misfires. Can you tell me where the oil is coming from and what I can do to fix this? Are there DIY videos to fix something of this nature? Your help is greatly appreciated. Keep your videos coming!
Probably would need to do a compression test and maybe a leak down test to determine the source of oil. Sadly it doesn’t sound good.

Thanks Thomas. Flex fuel allows for alcohol blended fuels to be used and adjusts fuel injection based on the composition of fuel to alcohol percentages.
Any video for a P1275 on a 2003 L6, 4.2L DOHC 24V MFI....can’t seem to figure it out
