    I changed the water pump and thermostat as I had a coolant leak from the front as it’s common on these and it was still leaking, checked your video and confirmed it was leaking from the knuckle , Thankyou so much for this ❤

    As a mechanic there is no easy job . Changing the weak plastic pipe can always leed to another plastic pipe. And that we can't see ahead of time . Cheers folks . Your mechanic will usually allways do there best for you. they are ,we are very skilled people cheers 🍺🍺

      It can be very challenging to break more bits when working on these modern vehicles. And I do agree mechanics/technicians do try their very best. Great comment Chris 🙏🙏

    Good one Peter..and more plastic…by the way you’ve just invented a new tool for VW : The Unclip The Clippie On the Pipie..only available through dealers … just €69.99 😂

    Peter I use a bent needle and thread. Use long nose pliers to feed it around the clip and then when it pops off you can just retrieve it by pulling the thread. Not done it on that car but use it when undoing and connecting the blind clip at back of engine on mini/ Peugeot engines if changing the thermostat housing.

    Hi Peter and everyone, I have the same problem with this pipe, I have changed it 3 times, same crack where the outlets split. Problem I have is that my pipe on one side has 3 inlets/outlets, online I am getting the one with 2 outlets on one side, how do I solve for this

      I find with these type of parts it is best to go to the dealer. I know it can be a little more time consuming but quite often the best route 🤔🤔

    I used do stuff that had to be ultra leak free - industrial schydt, Pfizer, Abbott, blah blah - anyway, it was always almost impossible to get everything totally sealed, Peter (reasons) - there would always be some gitty little tiny tiny leak from somewhere on some pipe union - so I went speak to the Old Lad at Glengory pumps, see what he had to say regarding a solution. If it's pipe related, he knows. Everything.
    He chucked me a bottle of stuff that looks for all the world like an oversized bottle of Loctite - I'll have to go out to the workshop as the name escapes me - anyway, you put it on stuff where pipes meet/overlap/mating faces/anything you don't want leaking - just a smear. Upshot is, what you use it on no longer leaks even if the fit-up is slightly compromised. Downside is it's spendy, but a little goes a long way. Other upside is it laughs in the face of even extreme pressures. It's a Godsend for assembly of gitty stuff like that thermal-fanny-nodule where too many pipes go onto too much plastic using too many clips & one is always going to weep. I'll wander out, find the name & bore you with it - buy some, use it, thank me later. :-)

    So was the original water leak misdiagnosed and the owner speed £500 just on need thermal unit when all he needed was this plastic part?

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the disturbance of so many plastic pieces combined with plastic fatigue meant that I created another far smaller leak. But yet it was leaking after I had worked on it and I changed the 2nd part free of charge 🤷🏼‍♂️😉

      Things like this happen from time to time. You fix a large leak and then the next weak area springs a leak because of age or disturbance from the previous repair. I have this same thing happen. I replaced the thermostat and it was obviously leaking because of all the crusty coolant stains on it. When the thermostat was out of the car, it was even more obvious it had been leaking as there were lots of coolant residue at the joints. A week goes by and there were no leaks, then suddenly, I see drips like in the video and I can see the plastic pipe wet. Anyway, thanks for the video!
