Some units of the Imperial Brazilian cavalry used Spencers in the war against paraguayan tyrant Solano López (1864-1870). In the clashes at San Solano and Isla-Tay small numbers of Imperial cavalrymen held away brave and larger but ultimately failed paraguayan mounted charges. Apparently it was so much appreciated that it continued to be used until the 1890s by isolated cavalry companies, despite the adoption of other weapons.

Nice I wish they made 1 chambered for 357mag/38 spl
Wouldn’t that be awesome? I know they make a few different calibers in the repros!
A bit cluncky and awkward but in its day it was a miracle.
It is a bit clunky, but I would take this over a Springfield or Enfield any day!
.56 caliber
