My 2001 Accord had 200 hp. That was the top-of-the-line Accord at the time with a V6 engine. It got somewhere around 22 mpg.
A lot more than my brand new 1993 Accord EX did new!! In 1993. lol
@@Kiss__KissI would love to have that ‘93. 😍
@@a.person7825 In '93 it was nice, as it was a manual transmission. Nowadays? I'd still drive my B9 Audi S4 lol
Sounds like Honda finally realized the 1.5T is a pos motor and moving away from that junk. 🤷🏻♂️
There's a lot with 180k miles on forums the steering racks fail more than the 1.5 .
@@smurfeco2.358
How many buyers really join the forums?
Is like the manual transmission community , they don’t represent more than 3% of total sales with all manufacturers combined.
@reyperez3424 idk all my friends have hondas with 1.5s they all have more then 100k already
Thank you for saying it. Poor integra is stuck with it…
Can you name what makes it a pos? How fast do you need to drive realistically? People just talk but never drove the cars lol. I dip in my mom’s CR-V….turn off Econ mode and put it on the fake “s” mode so the CVT feels a little quicker and holds fake gears longer. 2.0T is already insane that’s why they use it in the performance Type R models….v6 turbos are for Acura big model cars. Do you even know cars
Welcome to the Accord and the Liftback Accord.
It took Honda a while, but they finally realized that hybrids become a lot more interesting to buyers if they produce a power benefit, along with increased fuel economy. I do wish they hadn't added even more length to the overly-long nose (front overhang), though.
Probably for crash ratings.
So luxurious and sharp-looking for a compact! If I could actually afford a car, this would be it.
That Sport Touring model looks sharp!!
As a v8, manual diehard this is actually the first hybrid I’ve found appealing. It’s really nice looking with that new blue and the gray interior.
I hear you. I own both a manual and a V8, though not in the same vehicle LOL
I got 50 mpg in the 80s on most Japanese cars that I had owned, many of them with carburetors….didn’t have much complexity and electronics…just need household tools to fix them when needed. This NEW Honda is a failure in my opinion.
@@Thankyou_3 that car also was a tin can deathtrap in an accident that weighed like 1800lbs. You can't properly compare them. This drivetrain in a car that light would probably hit almost 65mpg or better
Having a V8 manual has nothing to do with it, this is a smart buy for it's performance....incredible car.
@@pablonator3000able As long as 1) You aren't an enthusiast. 2) As long as it doesn't have a CVT (please refer to #1).
Definitely has its accolades, Peppy? Sure, while sipping the least amount of gas? Definitely. In 2024/2025 It sure is a step in the right direction with this economy.
i bet its not easy fixing yourself like 90s to early 2000s honda
Honda always delivers!
Late to the game tho
Personally, I miss the lobster claw tail lights - looked so much cooler than the old guy rear end on this body style. Really happy to see the hybrid power train coming back. How about a smaller, lighter version that gets 75 mpg?
Or bring a successor to the 1st generation insight hybrid coupe. It got 60-70 mpg with a manual transmission in the early 2000s.
@@DavidG-wv2nb completely agree. The CR-Z was such a disappointment.
I always viewed them as devil horns
@@MrTwistoff Definitely. I remember how incredible the pre production drawings looked of that car. Then they made it a hybrid, with worse mpg than the Civic HX of the 90s. Completely a missed opportunity.
Crab lights were horrible
Civic Hybrid has gotten newer changes for a Civic itself.🙌🏻💯 Well deserved.:)
Hopefully they fix the “sticky steering”. I wonder if this one will actually get near it’s eventual claimed MPG figure or if in real life results will be much lower?
*exactly THAT and the rear hatch leakage issues are what I'll be waiting to see resolved before I jump into this.
Can't wait till MW does a test drive of this model!
Soon! Our first drive video should be up in early to mid-June!
@@Motorweekhave to wait that long?
@@AN38385probably on embargo.
That new front end is amazing
No fog lights ??
What do you think Motorweek, the hybrid civic for just under 30, or a CRV for 3 to 10 k more?
I want one 😮I think I’m gonna do a trade in
Civic looks good, and this is the best review buy that lady ever. I appreciate the obvious improvements.
Looks great. Too bad it got really expensive!
Are any Civics besides the SI available in a Manual Transmission?
No, Honda got rid of a base manual when they introduced this 11th-gen in 2022.
Total bummer. I love a manual transmission. I guess I have to get an SI. :)
@@Motorweek not true. You can get the hatch with a 6spd still.
You can get the hatch with a manual
@@MotorweekType R and the sport hatchback and sport touring hatchback was available in 2022-2024 until this mid cycle refresh.
🔥🔥🔥
Great review
The front looks much better.
Sad to see it still has that fence on the dashboard.
Honda has been slowly watering down its automotive lineup. You can't buy a manual Accord anymore, which is terrible. Also gone is the 2.0 turbo accord, and long gone the even more fantastic V6. They killed off the fit when that car makes so much sense in this day and time. They stopped making the civic coupe. Now you cant even buy a base model civic with a manual. I dont like where this is going. If they stop selling the manual SI and Type R, I'm selling my stock holdings.
So no rear vents or charging ports, kids will have to sweat it out without their devices.
Even with the introduction of new or revised models, Honda Motor Company, as a whole, still has not grown nearly as much as the Hyundai Kia Group. The Civic has been overall consistent, but Accord sales have been flat. I still prefer the Civic, Corolla, and the Mazda 3 over the Elantra and Forte, though. This revised version looks better up front.
They still gonna have power steering issues ? They haven't even fixed that issue yet already updating lol
Already? It's been since 2016. Been like 3 updates since then.
what is the issue with the steering? im thinking of trading in my car for this
@kidnman4605 they have steering rack issues . They fail .
After the hybrid, does honda transition into the next generation of civics?🤔 And also they definitely need to make the next si stronger!
thats what i was thinking
1 million bucks for a CR-V over here. I doubt they will even launch these for us. :-(
😂 this thing is massive
I am very confused : she sead : efficiency in consumption : just 15 miles / gallon . If we convert it to Litre/ 100 km it gives 15 litre/ 100 km Is this efficiency ??? Can someone explain to me that or I have just don't understand , thank you❤
50 miles per gallon
They did Europe and RoW dirty with this 200hp vs 184hp we have here. Of course they didn't anticipated the Prius/Corolla move and remain very conservative with 184hp as 1.5T. Classic conservative and lack of initiative Honda.
They also increased the fuel tank vs Europe/RoW ffs
Most of the European features are missing for Americans: lumbar seat support, rear vents, no pano roof offered. OK Honda, time to offer heated steering wheel and power lift-gate. The Buick Envista has both, for crying out loud!
In Canada the civic prices are 34 to 47Grand for new one, I can buy a SUV or truck for another 15G
You can spend a lot more on fuel, too. Not to mention higher insurance premiums on the SUV or truck. $15k is a huge increase in price even before considering the overall cost of ownership.
not everyone wants to buy a big ass truck
@@TheSprinkler they are overpricing the cars, this is worldwide. So when people in America complain about expensive cars, it is worldwide problem with supplies and printing money
@@TheSprinkler a small car should not be over 30g, it should be accessible to all mankind. But men in power think we should take the bus
@@bjsimon802 true
Is the hybrid a cvt
They didn't say explicitly tell us what transmission it has but Honda's hybrids use an eCVT which is different from a traditional CVT.
@@Motorweek id prefer a traditional 6 spd auto
@@rudiandboh Take a look at Hyndai/KIA hybrids. They use 6-speed auto.
@@Motorweek That's because eCVT's and CVT's are not a feature.
Yes.
Honda with their new Darth Vader hybrid Civic and discontinuation of the manual: “you were supposed to bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness!!!!!”
impress me with ventilated seats... not heated. Heated seats are so 1980s.
The civics are getting very big. The arms race for safety is going make the auto world very bloated.
Going? Where have you been since 2003?
Out the door 45k???
Be prepared to pay $35,000 for a Honda Civic folks. :)
I want this Honda in Europe 😂❤😊
What u be saving on gas you will pay for the battery in 13 years.
Most people keep cars for 3-5 years so you're talking a problem for the 3rd or 4th owner. Also the prius batteries have proven to be quite robust and rarely fail before 200k miles.
@@MeltingRubberZ28 alright
Last gen civic hybrid battery is 1300-2000. You're gonna save lot more than 2k in gas over 13yrs. Hell I spend 1700 on tires alone every 4-5yrs on my mustang.
That’s very specific… How much would it cost to replace the battery?
Wow. As much as I was watching and admiring the Civics, I was watching and admiring Jessica and listening to her pretty voice. My oh my
Is it me or does the front end on cars look like Darth Vader’s mask. The Accord and Mustang front ends look alike. 🤔
How much??? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$???????
Right off the bat calls it a hyundai
Check your batteries 👴
Price wise, Corolla is a better deal.
Who are they brought back the Honda Civic hatchback
Did Honda cheap-out & not use full LED taillights? Sad when automakers do that & cheapen their vehicles to budget-look status.
Is the 1.5 liter turbo inline four(180hp) still going to be available in the Civic for 2025? I hope so. Not everyone is going to want the hybrid.
Nope, only the 2.0L will be available.
@@Motorweek That's a huge mistake. I would prefer the 1.5 liter turbo four over a hybrid. As I said before, not everyone wants a hybrid. I'm assuming that the Civic Si and Type-R will continue as is for now.
@@johnnymason2460 why would you want the 1.5t over this? It's more power and better MPG. It's likely nearly as quick as the Si. Unless you want to modify the 1.5 is illogical and you should be getting the Si anyway.
So you want a less powerful engine that has worst fuel economy while diluting the oil with gas?
@@KeithSchwerin I don't need a hybrid to go fast. Hybrids are supposed to be for high fuel efficiency only. The 1.5 liter turbo is good enough for me.
BORING CVT ! I'll take a manual gas powered Civic version any day.
Furthermore, Honda should use the same wheels from the new Civic Hybrid in South America, they are more attractive than these.
Please add awd 😂
Thank god they got rid of the 1.5 turbo! What a pos engine that is
The music is ridiculous. But oddly catchy
She has good composure, but doesn't have many words- have her read more books.
A woman of few words is a keeper.
@@mvnorsel6354Yes, I agree.
@@mvnorsel6354 At that point, you wouldn't be able to have a deep or meaningful conversation with her.
Uglier front than the ugly 24. Way too much overhang and protruding grille and bumper.
So it's a full size car now.
I'm only interested in full ICE vehicles.
My full ICE MK7 Golf 1.8t is producing 253hp and 293tq with a Stage one+ tune while still getting 38mpg and it's lighter than this Honda.
Good for you. Why are you here then? I have a supercharged 2019 mustang with a 6spd and really don't care what it costs to fill my tank. I still recognize that for 90% of people this civic is a great option.
Super lame lol
Looks ugly
Its gross and a waste of materials
Just like all kias and Hyandais
The definition of generic automobile...
The speaker certainly didn’t put forth much effort pertaining to her attire. Not very professional at all.
Why do you care about her outfit? It's creepy
@@KeithSchwerinWhy do you care what I think? That you felt so strongly that you had to type a reply is what’s really creepy! Yikes!
@@a32tl yes...creepy
Absolutely nobody likes the hybrid version. The only thing we want is manual transmission 2.0 or 1.5 turbo. Of course Type R.
Honda is underestimating how many people buy the hybrid. It'll be half the sales.
The CRV is the strongest selling hybrid in the US (197k in 2023), and the Accord Hybrid is the strongest selling hybrid car too (97k in 2023). And less than 2% of new cars are manuals. YOU might want more manuals, NA engines, and Type R's but most people don't.
I already know people looking to potentially trade in 10th Gen 1.5T's on the hybrid. If the "only thing" people wanted was a manual they wouldn't be just 3% of cars sold.
