    This was a HOT Pilates workout in my warm house! lol. Could do me a big favor for future videos?? When you start into the reps can you say how many counts we are doing? Like if you can say right off the bat...20...10....etc! This just helps mentally how long to hang on for! Thanks so much :)

    • @PilatesBodywithMichelleAlexis
      @PilatesBodywithMichelleAlexis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nice!! I can definitely try to do that, my goal is usually to do 15-20 of each rep, though sometimes when I’m doing the workout my body is giving out after 10 or I might not be feeling the exercise enough so I go longer. So I kind of base the reps off of how hard or easy the moves are at the time but like I said my goal is usually 15-20reps so if you do any of my workouts that are up, mentally prepare for 15-20 😊💪

      Some one else said that recently. I honestly haven’t done this one in a really long time cause it was one of the first workouts I made on TH-cam. I designed the class for a private client of mine that only liked doing glutes and abs, so that’s probably why this one was particularly hard. There are a ton of other workouts on the channel that aren’t as hard. 😊

    Is there a reason why my back hurts when doing glute bridges?

    • @PilatesBodywithMichelleAlexis
      @PilatesBodywithMichelleAlexis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, there are a few reasons your back would hurt. Typically when someone says they feel it in their back and not their glutes/hamstrings, it’s because there are lifting their hips using their ribs and back instead of their hamstring and hips. You always want to be able to see your pelvic bone when you lift your hips, if you can’t see it then typically your ribs and stomach are arching, which is a no no. Next time you do bridges, don’t lift your hips as high, try keeping the upper and mid back on the mat so just the tailbone it lifting slightly and focus more on tucking the pelvis and squeezing the hamstring and glutes. Bridges do also strengthen the back, so it could be the lower back muscles just getting strengthened but typically it’s the first scenario

    • @TaylorQuince19493
      @TaylorQuince19493 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Love your focused workouts and can't wait for more glute ones :)

    • @TaylorQuince19493
      @TaylorQuince19493 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Does it help if I do the bridges on the box instead? Like having the foot rest lower and put a box on top?

    • @PilatesBodywithMichelleAlexis
      @PilatesBodywithMichelleAlexis  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TaylorQuince19493 That could help, if you try it that way, just make sure you don't lift your hips higher than your stomach and you are keeping the mid/upper part of your back on the box.

    Hi, I am confused with the use of the reformer. I've never used a reformer before and going to my first class soon, but I'm baffled that it seems by these videos on youtube people are straightening their legs fully on the reformer but does this not lock your knee? Thank you if you reply to provide clarity. I just don't want do anything my injure myself

    • @PilatesBodywithMichelleAlexis
      @PilatesBodywithMichelleAlexis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are many exercises on the reformer where you will straighten the legs fully, but the movement is slow as you push out so you aren’t locking the legs quickly. Instead of thinking about locking the legs I think of squeezing tiny quads muscles and glutes. But if you are taking a class the instructor should come around and correct your form

      Hola. Para cuidar tus rodillas, cuando extiendas las piernas no lo hagas totalmente. Deja un pequeño espacio como dos cm. Para tus rodillas. O mejor explicado, no hagas extensión total de la rodilla, reservate un 3%. importante es que las manos y la columna estén bien pegaditos a la plataforma. Yo tengo artrosis y me protejo así. Saludos desde cali

    Nice machine nice workout but could it be that most of the exercises would be also possibel with a bunch of cheap tools like thera band and others?

    • @PilatesBodywithMichelleAlexis
      @PilatesBodywithMichelleAlexis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes for this specific workout, several of the exercises could be done with resistance bands instead of the machines but on some of the exercises if you used a resistance band it might move up the leg so this machine functionally works better and other workouts on the channel you wouldn’t be able to do the same exercises with only bands.

    • @PilatesBodywithMichelleAlexis
      @PilatesBodywithMichelleAlexis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I definitely agree that it is way more effective to have the band! I still mention that people could do that workout because I don’t want to deter someone anyone if they don’t have the prop at the moment or if someone is a beginner.
