@@sebherv yeah I've heard Cory say he's practiced hours and hours a day for many many years, an you can tell that with the strength in his fingers on that acoustic, and he plays 12 gauge.
his vocals suck though. he has such a weak voice and he doesn't have a good ear for vocal rhythm. his falsetto is decent but so is tons of peoples. I know a few cover playing solo bar acts that shit all over this guy. It's pretty obvious he never went to a conservatory. His fretting is still upper intermediate to be honest. His fingers bow in a lot.
When I first clicked on the video I thought "how the hell do you do this one solo on acoustic?!" and 5 minutes later I'm like "ah, that's how". Insane, so good!
You know, it's not often that you come across someone who can really capture the essence of a "voice & guitar" performance like Corey did in this cover. I mean, I've watched a lot of these types of videos, and while many of them are impressive, there's just something truly special about the way Corey plays and sings. And while it's easy to feel a little envious of his talent, it's also incredibly inspiring to see someone put in the time and effort to achieve something truly great. I have no doubt that this cover took an immense amount of work and dedication to perfect, and that's a testament to Corey's incredible skill and passion. So, Corey, if you're reading this, just know that your performance was not only fantastic, but truly awe-inspiring. Keep doing what you're doing, because the world needs more artists like you who can remind us all of the power and beauty of music.
I remember hearing this upon its release, I was just a kid, and I've heard many try it, most times either punk or metal rendition, but something compelled me to look up an acoustic version today for some reason... And now... I am at peace. I could never have imagined it to be THIS good... True talent... And the softness of the intro into that iconic riff? Is the difference between shotgunning a tall boy of PBR and sipping a fine glass of Canadian Whiskey! Hopefully this man will continue to be legendary... Our world needs this. Moreso now than ever!
Why has it taken 11 months for this to hit my feed? These vocal chops are incredible and the guitar playing was really well done. I would listen to this on Spotify
I was born in 1972, center of GenX. This song was the anthem of MTV for at least a couple of years. Cable TV was brand new. Music on cassettes was still novel. This was coming out of the TV, if you were a teen then, all day, everyday. In particular, that core riff right at the beginning. You play that so crisp. I literally saw an image of an astronaut on the moon…the technicolor flashing of MTV…and suddenly I was transported to my living room in 1985-86, staring at the TV. I could see the computer-cartoon characters from the video. I was, I think 14…just starting high school. That song was everywhere. You didn’t like it or hate it…it was like a national anthem. Which was odd, given how transgressive, ambiguous, unorthodox, and bitterly ironic it was. Incredible cover. I must have heard this song a thousand times, and the guitar riff is chiseled into my ear. But you made it instantly alive again…it was like I had never heard it before. You hit that riff so clear and clean I just want to listen to it a hundred times again. Amazing.😄
I- I'm at a loss for words. Money for Nothing as an acoustic cover is not something I would've ever thought possible, but THIS.... absolutely incredible
F**ing amazing!!!!! Already super hard to play on an electric guitar, but on the acoustic with such a clean and errorless playing and that voice - damn - what a man! what a great musician! respect and congratulations! Love what u are doing! Many many thanks that you share your great skills ❤
Watching Cory play keeps me inspired to keep playing and practicing, and I'm starting to see results after over 50 years of playing, thanks to Corys lessons, lol
@@MikaelLewisify Corey's version is more complicated , and he doesn't play the first lick but directly the second one with the added note , it's a classical music version of a song that is way easier to play with an electric guitar , you don't need more than 3 strings 90 % of the time ... That's interesting anyway ...
