- In this video, We fix the leaking oil sump/pan. I've already done this once before but it's still leaking. So let's see if we can complete this job quicker & right this time. While trying to fix one problem we stumble across another. This car is fighting me all the way. We can kiss goodbye to all my profit. It's a case of getting the car back on the road with as little damage to my wallet.

Step nearer bud . Hope it stays dry for you. Always a fine line with the silicone if its enough or too much. I have used Wynns instant gasket black on quite a few . as you say clean em off with brake cleaner and dont put oil in till next day. Well done for sticking with it. Jobs like this can be tedious this time of year.

Mate: You should only finger tight the sump,leave it 30 mins, to semi harden. Then to torque, then 12h-24 till adding oil. Personally I use elring instant gasket, and clean with 3m roloc white pad and IPA 99%. Had to use a block and tackle to pull the inlet plenum of my 2.7t A6, so it holds well. Also you might already know, but eper website for Italian motors.

Quite a few techs I know have had to do the sump.job twice ,a lot of the problem is with the motor factors & prob e bay now poor quality fit ,everyone in the fiat specialist trade now only fit genuine sumps ,also another thing is the boss that's welded in for the drain plug can rip out on the cheap pattern ones

Could you not have removed exhaust at bottom of cat rather than manifold .

Let silicone go semi hard before fitting
Just remove the cooling fan before you tackle anything near the manifold....loads of room !
