Thanks for this helpful video. Here’s a tip for a hidden feature I like called One Touch Turn Signal. It’s at Setup -> Vehicle-> Lights. You can set the turn signal to flash 3, 5, or 7 times when you quickly push and release the turn signal lever. Convenient for lane changes.
The funny thing is that I had set it to 5 in my Niro EV, and did the same in my EV6, but never thought about it as a hidden feature, but it is a good idea to show. Thank you, I have added it to the list.
My 2013 Škoda Roomster does that automatically! Still waiting to aquire my first ev, ideally a used e-Niro, and this is a really helpful video but why would you have to hunt for something like that? I'm old and not terribly tech savvy, hence being a bit of a grouch about these weird 'retrograde' steps. 🤔😅 Cheers André. 👍
@@judebrown4103 just to reasure you, the Niro EV does do it automatically, but you can adjust it from the default 3 to 5 or 7. I changed it from 3 to 5 in my Niro EV and also in my new EV6 😎
@@EV-olution oh thanks André, I did think it seemed a bit odd. It's possible to change the number of repeats on the Roomster too, I believe, but I've never got around to it... really doesn't bode well for my transition to ev, does it?! Fortunately my wife seems to have a knack for tech as she uses a computer for work. I'm more the take it apart, fix it, put it back together with a screwdriver and a spanner type myself. 👍
Just brought our EV6 home last night, and found this video. It is GREAT, of course, but I was roaring with laughter at the end. Looking forward to your other instructive videos, and hoping for more laughs, to boot. Thanks so much!
Congratulations on your new EV6, you are going to love it. I do have other EV6 related videos, and just as an FYI, I have bloopers at the end of all my videos since late 2019 😎 Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe to not miss my future videos.
The first tip about dipping the exterior mirrors is brilliant. I’ve had my EV6 for 6 months and despite searching the handbook I figured that wasn’t something available on the car. Thanks!
Thanks. I’ll go look. I also just discovered if you are in reverse with the mirrors dipped, you can actually adjust the amount of dip of each mirror independently, while in reverse mode. Super slick. I prefer my passenger side one dipped more so I can see the rear wheel. Handy for parallel parking to know how close to the kerb the wheel is. Cameras don’t really help in that situation.
I am glad my video could help. You are right, dealers are not aware of this kind of information. It would take dedicated EV sales people to learn about the cars, but unfortunately we are a long way off from that happening. I will be making a part 2 video because there are other things that have been found 😎
Thanks for that in depth look at the EV 6. I just got mine 2 weeks ago, so lots to learn. One thing that puzzles me is the fact that the car does not lock when you walk away with the FOB ?
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I was away on vacation. Unfortunately the car does not have an auto-lock feature for the situation you describe; I wish it did. It does, however, lock the doors automatically if you unlock them and you don't open a door. Not a great consolation prize though. Hopefully Kia will implement an update that will add the feature.
@@EV-olution Yes, the lack of Auto-Lock and also Approach Unlock on 2022 EV6 Wind is a big disappointment. My 2014 Cadillac ELR had these features, and they should be standard on a 2022 EV. In fact, I had to watch a TH-cam video to figure out how to even use the keyless lock/unlock. That's even WITH reading the manual. It is completely unintuitive that you need to push so hard on the indentation of the door handle. th-cam.com/video/OQLb0iMn3BM/w-d-xo.html
@@williamdorner4907 I guess it depends on your trim. In 2022 Canada did not have Wind, etc, so I am not sure what is included or not in your car, but my GT Line Pack 2 has auto presenting handles and unlock when I approach my car.
Thanks for the video. One more hidden feature. If you press and hold the "AC/Media" switcher button for like 10 secs, a new screen will appear. On this screen you can select if you want to auto revert to "Media" or "HVAC" after the last input. I like it to auto revert to media menu buttons, instead of HVAC.
Thanks... I really like your video. Today we're getting our EV6. Your video help me to understand the vehicle. Mostly I like you shows everything so simple way. No drama, no dramatic, it's make easy to understand
Another hidden feature for the paddles. Works on the Niro and EV6 is the single use ‘auto hold’. When breaking of in complete standstill, hold the left paddle for 3 seconds and the car will remain in its position until you press the accelerator paddle. I find it useful in situation like traffic jams when you don’t want to use the auto-hold function all the time but just once. Good to see you back on TH-cam. Your vids made me buy a Niro EV (MY21) 👌🏻 never going back to petrol, this is just so much more relaxed driving.
I am glad my videos could help you choose an EV that suits your needs and congratulations on the Niro EV, it is an excellent vehicle. You are correct about the left paddle, the disadvantage is that the thing holding the vehicle in place is the electric motor (motors in the EV6) as opposed to the friction brakes, meaning the car will use battery power to hold the car in position. The other disadvantage is that the paddle hold version that holds the car does not keep the brake lights turned on when stopped at a light, whereas Auto Hold keeps the brake lights on.
Another tip is the multifunction panel default. You can set it to be in either entertainment or in climate mode. This selection can be made by pressing on the climate/nav selection button for 3-5 seconds. This help ensure that you are not turning up the heat when you are turning up the volume. It defaults back to one or the other. Some prefer the climate default and some prefer the entertainment default.
Funny you mention this because while I was volunteering at the Montréal EV show, letting people test drive my EV6, a viewer was there and told me about this exact feature. It is noted and is on the list. Thank you 😎
Good information. Most salesmen and woman don't know all the tricks in the car. When I ask how to do something they just sit in the car and play with things until they might figure it out. They should watch more TH-cam. About the auto regen. What level is it in before sensing a time to brake for the car in front? I found the adjustment of the regen levels with the paddle shifters right at my fingertips a joy to use and was just tapping up to a higher level when I needed to slow down instead of using the brakes. LIke down shifting but better. It sounds like the auto setting might do this for me or I might enjoy the more active approach of doing it myself. What a great feature. Also I noticed that turning off regen was amazing as the car just cruises with little resistance whatsoever kind of like putting you ice car in neutral. Very fun.
Thank you very much. The Auto regen actually has levels, just like the manual regen settings, so you can adjust it to your liking. I am not sure what the distance is for the car detection. I prefer the manual setting to adjust as I see fit and, as you indicated, regen 0 is excellent for coasting and it it far more efficient to drive in 0 if you do not need to slow down.
@@EV-olution do you have any more information about how turning off the regen range? I haven't heard anything about decoupling the front or back wheels on the ev6 for instance and since it costs so well I assume it's still using power from the batteries?
@@jimji2774 the EV6 decouples the front motor automatically when in Eco and Normal mode. AWD is only active 100% of the time in Sport mode, or if you set regen to i-Pedal. If you set regen to i-Pedal then it is AWD in all modes, even Eco mode. The most efficient highway driving is in Eco, or Normal mode, with regen set to 0. In the city i-Pedal is excellent, except if on a larger boulevard with higher speeds, then I set the regen to 0 and coast most of the time.
I have a request for two video topics. 1) Installation of a solar panel on roof of an EV6 and possible issues with soft (from what I have seen, they can add up to 12-20 miles an hour on a sunny day). 2) Review of all Supercharger programs and possible discounts you can get for fast charging.
Thanks for the suggestions, and for watching my video. Regarding your question about solar panels, this has been gone over at length and with the panels we have today, it makes no sense to use portable panels because you would need far too many to be of any real use in the real world. There are tons of articles and videos about the subject, but here is a reference that goes over the math (see link below). If you scroll half the way down the article, you get to the section called "How many solar panels will I need to charge just my EV?" and the example math they show that you would need 5.85 solar panels that generate 410W of power each to be of any real use. www.cnet.com/home/energy-and-utilities/heres-how-many-solar-panels-youll-need-to-charge-your-ev/
Thank you for your very helpful videos on the EV6. It was also a pleasure to meet you yesterday at the Montreal electric véhicule show and to be able to test drive this wonderful car. Keep it up, can’t wait to receive mine. Michel
This was helpful. Thank you. We just got our EV6 3 days ago so it's all still very new. There is just one thing that I'm quite annoyed about. We live in a small remote area (islands) in Europe and the EV6 does not seem to have a Navigation Map. All we see is a black screen with the arrow icon that indicates us. The Coordinates seem to work and we can see it has satellite connections. When I tried one of their EV6 cars I just assumed that they hadn't updated the system on that car and it would be fine when we got our own. Went back the day after we got our car because I noticed it was still a black screen and talked to them, but the salesman just said "Kia doesn't have any Maps of our region so it doesn't work here... sorry. However, it does work just fine if you'd leave the country and have the car with you". It feels like a big letdown not being informed of that before buying the car. I had a Mercedes before this EV6 and that car had flawless navigation. If the model was really new I'd feel optimistic to have them add it soon but the model is over 2 years old now.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I was away on vacation. I am sorry to hear that the navigation map does not include your area. It is pretty surprising to me. I ahve two questions for you: (1) Have you updated the nav software? I have a video that explains how to do it for free. Link here: th-cam.com/video/DuB6kdvNT1k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=e_NMjFRd_ziJAPos The only difference with the EV6 is that you have to use a USB memory key instead of the SD Card shown. (2) Have you contacted the company that makes the software? You can reach them via the same website mentioned in my video linked above. Here is the site: update.kia.com/
Usually I am just laughing when there is an article or video about a products "hidden features" and then someone explains very basic functions 🙄... recently I even stopped reading or watching these misleading blocks of wasted time ... but this is very different - thank you - truly interesting information!
I was worried as I started to read your comment, but the last part relieved that worry 😎. I am glad that you found my video helpful, thank you for the comment and thank you for taking the time to watch, it means a lot to me.
Yeah! I saw this video and thought the title might be a bit of click bait but I was genuinely surprised by the content! Lots of features I would never have known about! Thank you
@@johnnzperplexed2741 thank you for watching and I am glad that I made content that was helpful. I try to not make click-bait titles, but some videos "require" a title that catches the eye because a title like "Things that are not obvious to find in the EV6" would not make people watch 😂🤣. FYI I will be making another video like this one, part 2, since I have several tips from viewers and I have discovered a few more things. Thanks again.
I bought my EV6 memorial day weekend this year. I had a kia sportage before and didn't even know I could get a cargo cover for the EV6 so thanks! I haven't had time to read through the huge manuals so all these tips help. i'm not sure the touch lights are really that useful but who knows with Kia sometimes. Their UI isn't the best design.
Congratulations on your new EV6, it is an excellent vehicle. Your timing is excellent because it has been almost 2 years since I made this video and part 2 was just recorded. The video is being edited now and will come out in about 1.5 weeks. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it.
Great video! Thank you again for showing up at the Montreal EV Show and allow us to test drive the car. Loved the regenerative brakes! loved that acceleration!. Always great to meet a car enthusiast! Looking forward to your next video.
It was a pleasure meeting you and I am glad you enjoyed your time behind the wheel of my EV6. Thanks for watching my video. You may find some of my older videos of interest, about public charging stations, Level 2 vs DCFC, and many other videos. Thanks again.
Another item that I found really useful in my old bmw x5 is using the key fob to remotely open or close the windows. Only works on the front windows in the ev6 but if it's a stinking hot day it's nice to be able to get some fresh cooler air into the car before you open the doors while you're approaching your car. Also convenient to be able to close the windows from inside your house if you look outside and see you've forgotten to do so.
You just stole one of the features that I had found and now my list has your name with it beside this feature 😀. The reason I put your name beside it is because I was not able to close the windows on mine using the same trick. How did you manage to close them with the keyfob?
André, with my Niro EV I typically have the regen set for auto and I still can vary the aggressiveness of the regen by using the paddles usually setting for one or two arrows. In auto regen the car uses the radar plate to automatically decrease the speed when the car I’m following slows down. If a car traveling at a slower speed than mine moves in my lane it will react to that situation. I prefer this auto regen in heavy traffic. Sometimes I just enable the adaptive cruise control and set it for minimum distance in heavy bumper to bumper traffic and the car pretty much takes care of the driving for me automatically relieving the driving stress. In the future I’d like to see a drive comfort and handling experience comparison of the two vehicles. Great videos as always!!!⚡️ ✅
This Auto region function whilel still being able to adjust it with the paddlle shifters may be my favorite thing about this ev6. Not sure of any other manufacturers have this feature and it may be the deciding factor that makes me buy this vehicle over any other as I loved being able to adjust that regen on the fly and I didn't even try the auto function on my test drive. Woohoo.
Not an EV owner, but I love the "dipping mirror" feature in my Kia Sorento. Helps when backing into parking spaces and backing out of my curvy driveway.
I am glad you enjoyed it. If I can't laugh at myself, who am I going to laugh at 😎. Thank you for watching and for subscribing, I really appreciate it.
Super super helpful. And is it me, or does he sound like Agent Smith from The Matrix? Maybe it’s the sunglasses. “Tell me Mr. Anderson… What good is a phone call if you’re unable to speak?”
There's two other very useful features you haven't mentioned. 😊 If you tap and hold on the area on the ventilation/media panel underneath the screens, where you shift between media and ventilation, you will after a few seconds get the option to choose which functionality you want to be shown as default. Choose one, tap on the panel, and see that it now automatically shifts back to your preferred layout after a few seconds. 😉 Oh, and you can remove the screen protector on the panel too - and it's looking really nice and shiny underneath. I've done it myself on both my EV6's. Just use your fingernail to scratch on top on the right or left side of the panel. Don't get inpatient if it won't come off easily, you will succeed eventually - and the result is all worth it, I promise. 🤩👍🏻
Thanks for the tap-and-hold tip, I have it listed for a future video. FYI, the film that you removed is not meant to be removed, it is permanent protection film for the touch panel and I don't suggest anyone try to remove it. If you have already done so it should not cause issues, but I strongly suggest leaving it in place as it is not meant to be taken off.
@EV-olution Thank you for your answer. I would like to hear from where you get the information that the screen protector isn't meant to be removed - because my local Kia import does not list this as a problem at all. According to them, its just meant to prevent sticky fingers and dirt on the panel, and will have no effect on functionality or durability. Thank you.
@@OleIChristensen the film on the touch panel is stuck on quite well, is difficult to remove, and leaves an adhesive residue that needs to be cleaned off, which are all signs of a permanent film, not removeable. This question has been discussed in several Facebook groups over the last year, and although I do not have an official statement from Kia, the concensus is that the film is not removeable.
Great video! Thank you again for this. (Please don't pay too much attention to the mockers saying this is all in the manual.... - such is the case for the majority of car videos on you tube!) Could you please do a video on the smart cruise control and lane keep assist of the EV6 - and whether you notice any improvement over the Niro - specifically in the lane keep assist?
Thank you, I appreciate it. A SCC video is a good idea. I am going to be offline for a bit because of the house we just bought, the renovations, and the move, but it is noted for the future. Thanks again.
There is one additional features I didn't see you mentioned in the video related to the dual function radio/climate. By default if you hit the radio/climate button it will toggle between radio controls and climate controls. If you long-press that button, it will let you set which of the two mode you want as the default. Once setting the default, the control bar will default to that setting after ~3 seconds if no button has been pressed - very handy if you are like me and use it for radio 90% of the time.
Thanks Shaun. That is one feature that was pointed out when I made the video and is on the list for the part 2 that I willl be making. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it.
Thanks for the very clear explanations. Concerning max regeneration, I have the same think on my Kona. Holding the left paddle will give me max regen and can take me to a complete stop (no i-pedal on the old Kona).
Plenty of extra hidden features: NSCC navigation based cruise control: When you enable CC then after 3 seconds the speed limit sign will blink. One press up/down as arrow says and you are at the speed limit. Works 3 seconds after passing any new speed limits as well. And you have 3 secs to react. If you set speed warning to +5 km/h then NSCC will snap to actual speed limit + the offset. Since my car shows 4km/h too much - +5 is close to perfect. Close windows with remote. Press and hold lock on remote. Auto Regen: you can increase Regen with paddle shifters. With nobody in front you can lower it to level 0 or 1 for long free roll. Lower than default.
Thanks for posting. I will test the cruise control speed limit tip, thanks. The windows via remote is one I was saving for the next video. Regarding the Auto Regen, I am going to make a dedicated video about how it works. Thanks again.
@@EV-olution in reality I try to roll off excess speed when coming to a slower zone. Then enable CC again usually close to legal speed. Then I do not gain much. But if you forget to slow down it is a 1 click slowdown. But when going to a faster zone I sometimes accelerate with the pedal but I know 3s later I can do the one click adjustment at let go of speeder. The blinking speed sign can be detected with peripheral vision.
Thank you very much, I am glad it was helpful, but I will be making a Part 2 because there are a few other things that have been found and mentioned by viewers😎
You may have missed this one. There are remote releases for the rear seat backs. Loading something long into the trunk area? You don't have to walk around to the rear doors to lower the rear seats. There are levers on the side of the trunk area that lower the rear seats.
Hello Andre, thank you for the insider tips on hidden features. Can you advise if the power tailgate can be set to specific height setting to avoid anyone who has an opening garage door that might get in the way?
Yes, you can stop it at the height you want then press and hold the tailgate close button, it will set the height. There are also tailgate heights already set in the touchscreen menus. I will be making a video about it.
Someone in the UK reported on the EV6 "Car wash mode". Washing the EV6 with the fob in your pocket will constantly lock and unlock the doors as you walk around the vehicle. To prevent this and avoid having to wrap your fob in tin foil or putting the keys in the garage, press Lock, then Unlock, then press and Hold Unlock for a few seconds. Update: In Canada this will roll down the windows. Different software perhaps - will get the source of the UK discovery
With the Canadian EV6, if I press and hold the unlock button on the keyfob, the front windows will go down. The silly thing is that pressing lock button does not make them go back up. As a tip for washing the car, you press the unlock button, then open and close a door, the handles will stay out. No more dancing door handles as you wash the car 😉
@@EV-olution Thanks a good tip for Canadian modes. I found the UK video. Seems to work there, although he did quote hold for (only) three seconds. I have not tried that yet
That would explain why they changed position after a series of test drives at one of the events i was a volunteer with my car. Thank you very much, I added it to the list of things for the second features video.
First major negative (in Canada anyway) . I have found the EV6 Nav system to be untrustworthy and no longer use it without at least a Google enabled phone as a back up. I have found it miss a simple destination altogether and then lead me around multiple blocks of turns past the destination to take me back to it. On another occasion it called for a left turn two blocks in advance of the major corner charging/gas station destination and selected a long route through a residential area to end up on the opposite side of the median at the gas/EV charging station. The worst case was picking a longer route to a location then when the longer route was intentionally passed for a shorter one (a one block route to the left) the "revised route" called for multiple right turns to place the vehicle back on the original (longer) route. The EV Niro Nav system was far, far more reliable. How does one ind out if the Nav system has a higher North American/Canadian version available that might be a fix.?
There is a navigation update that should fix your issues and it is completely free. The problem is that the latest update was taken offline due to a minor bug (that I and others are experiencing) and will be back online on the 12th of May according to what has been read. You can see how to download and perform the update with this video that I made: th-cam.com/video/DuB6kdvNT1k/w-d-xo.html
Another feature. The EV Niro rear mats always rode up and crumpled when passengers would ride in the back seats. The EV6 has rear mat anchors that eliminate this issue altogether.
Does the Max regen setting come back after the car is cycled on and off? I do like that aspect of the Auto regen feature and have been using Auto level 3 now and find the consistent behavior comfortable.
Max regen only comes on when you hold the left paddle. It will slow the car and stop it when held. Once you release the paddle it goes back to the level you had selected.
Thanks for the vid - it's very helpful to new owners, like myself. The question I have is, what is the center consoles glovebox little locking device? There appears to be a latch at the front of the box but it never does anything.
@@EV-olution Someone on a forum suggested that it's a latch that engages when the airbags are deployed, to keep stuff inside from flying around the cabin.
Thanks for the tips. I hope these tips are also working with a German version of the EV6. I will get my one in about 2 weeks...... I hope that the air distrubution is programable. In my Kona the air always comes from bottom, mid and window. I hate the air in the middle blowing in my face. Even after the update, on the screen it is nearly not visible which position is selected. Ok, it is a Hyundai, hope that Kia is smarter. LG Bernd
Received my new EV6 in August but haven't had much time to pour through the books... mostly learning by doing. Am finding so much through videos. Yours are particularly helpful. And amusing :-) thank you. Now need to figure out how to restore my back seats to upright position after collapsing them to fit my new eGo snow thrower in it. How is this done!????
Congratulations on your EV6, and thank you! I go over the rear seats in the video linked below. The section in question, about folding the rear seats down and back up, starts at 7 minutes 15 seconds: th-cam.com/video/vPvTgfWyzrk/w-d-xo.html
Followed you when you got the eNiro and great to see you have upgraded to EV6 as I did this January find your video's highly informative and learn something every time Many thanks Guillaume
Thanks for being a long-time subscriber, I really appreciate it and I am glad my videos can be of help. It will be a bit difficult, as it has been for a couple of months, to make as much content as I would like because I had to buy a house and we are in the middle of eveything involved, but I will do my best to keep videos coming on a regular basis. Thanks again.
On my Sorento, the first 10(?) SiriusXM presets would auto record so if you wanted to listen to a song again you could press skip backwards and it would play again. Also you could change preset stations then skip backwards. Not sure how long of a buffer was recoding, from car start maybe 30 or 60 minutes. It was a great accidental find.
That is a great feature and I use it all of the time. If you update your nav/infotainment you may find some improvement in the layout of the radio, but I am not sure if the redesign is only in the EV6, or for all widescreen Kia/Hyundai vehicles.
Great video as always, looking forward to all new EV6 videos, I will get mine most likely next week :) I am also changing my E-niro/Niro-EV to an EV6 like you :)
Thank you and congratulations on your EV6 purchase. I will be making another "hidden" features video because there are other things I have found and that subscribers have told me about 😎
We just got the 2022 Telluride SX Nightfall a few months ago and two days ago we bought the EV6. We decided on runway red which looks great next to the dark moss Telluride. This video is awesome and I had no idea about the driver and passengers lights. Thank you. New subscriber here.
Great Video. What most annoys me about my EV6 is the heated/cooling seat controls. If i touch the media/heater controls i’m always brushing them. All i get is a beep to warn me it’s turned on.Wish Kia would program it so that it would speak heated seat on or whatever.I’m sure you will have a things i hate about the EV6 video lined up like you did on the e-Niro.
I’m happy I ordered the GT-Line trim that doesn’t come with cooled seats. It means I get 3 physical buttons for heated seats and steering wheel instead of the touch buttons. :)
I never touch them accidently, can't figure out why anyone has a problem with this. I keep my hand away from those buttons without even thinking about it.
Excellent summary. For hidden parameters of the car, you should use obd2 dongle, just like in Niro EV. Most people use Car Scanner Elm Obd2 (preloaded EV6 profile) or Torque Pro.
Thank you. I actually have an OBD2 adapter as well as some apps and another devices called EVOBD2 that I am going to make videos about. The problem is time, or the lack thereof. My last video was about 3 months ago because I had bought a house and had all of the stuff that goes with that, including renovations. I am currently working on a quick accessory review video for my EV6 and should have it out soon. The others will eventually follow 😎
Yes, sir. Lots of things were discovered since making this video 2 years ago. I have to make a part 2 video since there are other things that I have found, and that viewers have mentioned. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it.
Another feature. In every EV that I have had up to the EV6 it was impossible to clean the inner rims of the wheels. With the EV 6 in spite of "aero" wheels you can easily reach your hand through and even without a brush, can clean the entire rim - at least on the 20 inchers. Do not know about the 19s
Same experience here. It is nice that I can reach into the wheel with my hand to wash the rim. It looks so much better when it is clean. I have not seen the 19" in person yet so I am not sure, but I am looking for someone local who is receiving their GT Line Pack 1 because Kia has started deliveries of the Pack 1 in Canada. I intend to make a side by side comparison video of the differences.
Interesting, the NiroEV hidden features was one of your first I saw. It encouraged me to subscribe. One idea is a video on the various auto parking options.
I am glad I was able to make something worth subscribing for, thank you 😎 I have taken note about the auto parking features idea. I just need to make time to make the video. Thank you.
Those reviews drive me insane! The steering wheel can control almost everything to do with the radio and when the touch controls are on radio there’s still a square dedicated to the hvac system… it’s actually quite intuitive.
@@EV-olution I'm not too far away (Ottawa) so if my GTL Pack 1 comes anytime soon I'd be happy to let you do a side by side comparison with it. I'm trying to stay optimistic that I'll have it before mid summer. Fingers crossed lol
@@novax7514 thanks. Did you see my post on the EV6 Owners Canada Facebook group? Your offer is timed very well because I just posted that request a little earlier today.
@@EV-olution Yes I did! I don't have Facebook but I snoop it using google haha. I doubt I'll get it in time but I can always dream. (Ordered Matte Grey GT1 on December 13th 2021)
Most vehicle drivers on the road drive night/day. Very few (?) reviewers discuss/demonstrate a vehicle's exterior lighting performance as viewed from in/out of the vehicle. How does the KIA EV6 perform? Your out-takes continue to provide excellent entertainment.
You are correct, I don't know of any reviewers that show the night time lighting. I will have to make an EQ episode about it. The headlights are fine. Some people have complained that the LED projector headlights are not good, but coming from the Niro EV that had excellent LED headlights I can say that the EV6 headlights are decent. They are not as good as the Niro EV, but still more than adequate for night time driving.
Hello! I have also made the change from the Kia Niro EV (or Kia Eniro in Spain) to the EV6, in my case an EV6 GTLine Premium AWD, it is a spectacular change, the car is impressive, and I am still learning about all its options I don't know if you have discovered that the climate-radio menu can be adjusted so that it always stays in one of the options, by pressing the climate option a menu appears that by default is deactivated, you can put the climate or the radio menu and like this it always comes back to what you want Saludos!!!
Congratulations on your new EV6. It is an amazing car and although the eNiro is a great car, the EV6 is on a whole other level. Regarding your tip about the climate/radio touch panel, yes, thank you. I have it in my list for the part 2 of this series 😎. Thank you for watching my video.
Thanks for this - picking mine up in a week and am trying to learn all the features ahead of time. Quick stupid (?) question - I will be getting the Wind AWD version. Can I use snow cables (SAE-S version, of course) on the car in bad snow conditions? Appreciate the feedback - looking forward to your other videos.
Hi Steve, congratulations on your purchase, you are going to love the EV6. I don't know about snow cables versus Kia restrictions per country, but I would suggest simply using quality winter certified winter tires, like the Nokian R5 EV, or the R3 SUV, the 10 EV, or the Continental VikingContact 7, Michelin X Ice, etc. Any quality winter tire should be more than good. I have watched several reviews of various tires and for my Niro EV I had the Nokian R3. This time, with my EV6, I have decided to give the old, but proven Continental VikingContact 7 tire a try. I am downsizing to a more narrow 19 inch wheel and tire, but you can go as small as 18 inch wheels and tires on the EV6. FYI, I have a few EV6 videos and product reviews out already. I hope you like them and thanks for watching 😎
Thank you very much and thanks for watching. Regarding your question, I prefer to select the regen manually. When driving on the highway, or a secondary road where there are not many stops, I prefer regen at 0 so the car can coast for a long time without pressing the accelerator pedal. That is far more efficient than having regen on, even at 1, and pressing the pedal to maintain speed. It drives my wife nuts that I change the regen on the fly when needed, but it is far more efficient. Also to note, I use adaptive cruise control on the highway most of the time so regen settings are not relevant in that case.
That will be covered this winter when I have snow because I want to know exactly what it does and how the car behaves in snow mode. Just saying it is there is not as useful as a detailed explanation. Thank you for the reminder, I have written it down to not forget 😎
C'est excellent André, même les bloopers sont excellents! Merci pour ces explications. Is there a way to fold both mirrors while you are inside the car using some button even if the car is still "On"?
Merci Denis, j'apprécie. Il y a un bouton sur la porte du conducteur, complètement en haut, au dessus du sélecteur gauche droite pour les mirroirs. Press once they fold, press again they unfold.
What’s the difference between I-pedal and MAX, and auto-regen, and do these settings persist between drivers, ie, is the regen setting I like linked to my driver profile? Thanks for the helpful details in this. I’m coming over from a 2019 Tesla 3 and wondering if I should take the EV6 when it actually arrives in two years...
There are 0, 1, 2, 3 and i-Pedal regen levels in the EV6. i-Pedal is one pedal driving mode, but does not stay active when the car is powered off and back on; it drops to level 3 after a power off. MAX is what you get when you pull and hold the left regen paddle to stop the car, regardless of regen level you are in. You could be at level 0 and pull the left paddle which will slow and stop the car with max regen. I am not sure if the driver profile "remembers" the regen level, but I would take a wild guess that it will since it keeps things like radio station presets, ambient light color, mirror settings, etc. I have driven the Model 3 and Model Y and I can honestly say that I prefer the EV6 over both of them for my needs and preferences. I would have liked a bigger frunk, but I can live with the small one we get since the rest of the EV6 is pretty awesome.
Thanks your videos are always clear and concise, well put together. Do you know why the auto handbrake doesn’t come on automatically in the ev6 when you select Park, but does on the NiroEV?
Thank you, I am glad my videos are helpful. If your EV6 parking brake does not come on automatically when shifting to park, then your car is missing an update. I assume that you have a 2022 EV6 from before June 2022 and if you have Auto Hold active, and turn the car off, the parking brake will come on. Call your Kia service center and ask them to perform all the updates for your car. Make sure the recall updates are applied as well as all the technical service bulletin updates. You have to ask for certain TSBs for them to be done, so asking for all of them should cover you, if you have a good dealership and service person.
Hey Andre, great little review. I've just put my $$s down on an EV6 having had an awesome test drive. It's a 12 month wait here in Australia but I'm keeping entertained trawling through EV6 youtube stuff. Loved your video, very helpful and clear... also loved the bloopers! 😂 And love the T-shirt... I'm coming after one of those!😃
Hi Mark, thanks for watching my videos. I hope you are subscribed 😉 It is pretty good that you "only" have to wait 12 months. In Québec people placing new orders are being told 2 years! I got your order for the two t-shirts and pulled them out of the box. I should be able to pack them and get them shipped out today. I had not thought about shipping to Australia and never calculated it so I hope I don't get hammered on the shipping cost 😎. Thanks again for your support, I really appreciate it.
Hi Claude, I don't see your other question, but to answer this one... For daily driving I never charge to more than 90%, and I don't charge every day since there is no need. All EVs with lithium ion batteries should be occasionally charged to 100% on level 2 (240V) charging stations because it allows the battery management system (BMS) to balance the cells. I charge to 100% at least 2 times per month, but when it is done charging I make sure to drive the car to drop the level to 90% or less. I usually plan this for when I have a longer distance to drive the next day, so I plug and charge to 100% over night then drive to drop the charge level. Charging to your car to 100% is never a problem; the problem is leaving the battery at 100% for prolonged periods of time. That is bad for the battery. The same thing goes for having your battery at less than 20% state of charge (SoC). Driving your car down to 5% is not bad for the battery as long as you charge your car to above 20% when you are done driving. I was on a business trip last week and my battery was down to 4% when I arrived at one of the charging stops. It is not a problem because I charged to 80% then continued on my trip. I hope this helps.
My Kia dealer says it doesn't matter, because the car is made for it. There's a buffer built in the software, so when you see your battery is charged fully up to 100% or drained down to 0, its not actually on 100% or 0 for that matter. It done for protection of your battery. That's why you still have a little power on the battery, even if it drops to 0. And don't forget about the excellent guarantee Kia provides on also the battery - if it breaks, you will get it fixed for free. Enjoy 😉
Hi Andre, is there an update or hidden menu to activate the welcome light when you open te ev6, i mean the dancing front and rear lights..thx and very interesting videos you make..keep on the good work
Thank you very much, I appreciate it. Regarding your question about welcome lights (front and rear), if you are referring to having something similar to what the Polestar 2 does, as shown in my review video of the Polestar 2, then no, there is no "dancing lights" feature that I know of for any EV6 in any country. I have not heard of an update adding the feature either. Thanks again!
@@EV-olution oh yes there are welcomelights for the ev6 but dont know if there is an update for that or maybe its an extra... th-cam.com/video/d7LcVrZUwNk/w-d-xo.html
I had seen a Korean press video at launch of the EV6, that showed the welcome light sequence, but I have not seen any production cars with it. It may exist, but not in Canada.
Thank you for another wonderful video! I also have an EV6, and the turn lights on when doors open icon makes sense in hindsight, but I wasn't sure what it was until you showed it, and that I realized that I was missing it as a feature, even though it is not a hidden feature. A few things I haven't been able to figure out, that you might know or can confirm: 1. The orange light on top of the dashboard comes on every week or so and stays on until I turn the car on. I've looked through the Owner's Manual and in online forums but I haven't figured it out. Have you see this or heard of this? 2. This is my first EV and in my very first test drive of an EV last fall at the EV Discovery Centre here in Toronto, I test drove a Volvo XC40 Recharge and the lady had me try to just drive in one pedal drive mode (iPedal in the Kia world). I didn't like it, and swore I would never use it. Now that I've had a few months with the EV6 and understand the benefits of it, I now drive only in iPedal mode, but it reverts to level 3 regeneration once the vehicle turns off, I haven't found a way to make that be on from vehicle start up. Do you know if this is possible? Unrelated fun facts: 1. I also have the runway red EV6 and that you saw it the day that the Kia Hyundai Channel had the 4 EV6s (Feb 24) for their livestream. I laughed when I saw that you said you were getting one in runway red too. 2. Since we got the car, it turns a lot of heads. Normally I don't see the reactions of people because I'm focused on driving, but my wife does and lets me know. Last week we were stopped at an intersection and a police car passed right in front of us and the police officer in the passenger side did a quick double take. Priceless 😂
Thank you, I am glad you liked the video. Nice that you bought the fastest charing color 😉😎 1) From what I understand the orange light is the indicator that the 12V battery is being maintained. Similar to one of the 3 blue lights on top of the dashboard of the Niro EV when the 12V battery was being maintained. I still need to confirm this with Kia though. 2) Unfortunately i-Pedal is not persistant. Just like the Niro EV did not have Auto Hold as a persistant feature, I don't understand why Kia did not make it an option to configure as persistant... unless I missed it in one of the menus of the touchscreen, but I really dug into it. The police car double take must have been hilarious 😎
I think the orange light on the dash comes on when the 12 volt battery is charging or has been charged. My EV-6 awd wind with tech is the most amazing vehicle I have ever owned or driven, sometimes I just go out and drive for the sure pleasure of it.
Yes you are correct; the orange light is 12V battery maintenance. I know what you mean about going for a drive just to drive the EV6, it is an amazing car 😎
Another great video Surround camera view in Kia EV6 GT Line, I have found this unreliable when judging the distance of my vehicle from say a parking line in FRONT of me. The surround camera view suggests I am on the line in front of me when you are in fact 30-40cm away from the line. What has been your experience?
Hi Andre. Great video. I test drove the GT S line EV6 today as looking to replace my e-Niro like you did. In UK we have Air, GT line, GT S line and a GT model. The dealer told me about the EV9 that will be coming out! Have you found that you would like to do some tweaks to the EV6? e.g. you did a video about changing the bulbs to LED's for the e-Niro but look all LED in EV6. What about the reversing light? Is it powerful and LED? Also, I liked that fact you could turn off the VESS and therefore the reversing sound in the e-Niro because it would wake my neighbours when I left early in the mornings. I couldn't find the VESS control on the EV6. Do you have the optional heat pump? Is it needed? Was standard on e-Niro. Thanks
Thank you very much. There are a few small things that I will do, but the EV6 has really corrected things that the Niro EV did wrong. The reverse light is a central light and it is LED so no need for that. In North America there is no VESS button because it is required by law and we are not allowed to deactivate it. This may have influenced production everywhere if your version no longer has a VESS button. In Canada we get heat pump as standard in all trims except for the base RWD Standard Range which is the 45,000$ version to meet EV incentive requirements for price. The question of whether it is needed is a bit of a difficult question to answer. For some yes, for others no. If the range of the vehicle is sufficient for your requirements then the heat pump is irrelevant because the claimed range accounts for heating in winter. Think of the Bolt EV and EUV, they have never had a heat pump and it is fine. Would it be more efficient if it had one, yes, but the price would increase. I actually have a video about heat pumps and talk about this.
Unfortunately I have not seen a setting to turn off the beep starting sound, only the regular start up sound can be disabled. I would have to test, but I think when you activate the start up sound the beeping stops. I need to test that.

Fasten your seatbelt before starting. It is the seatbelt warning sound.
@@EV-olution the problem is, based on the videos, it doesn't seem it will close itself when you leave? Also, it seems strange that in order to close a trunk with your key, you have to keep pressing the button until the trunk is closed. So basically, when you take some shopping from the car without your hands being free, it creates a problem. With my Peugeot 508, I can open it with my foot, but also close it with my foot. But not only a trunk is being closed, but also the car is being locked. It's perfect. And as someone mentioned - the button to close a trunk might be too high for some people....
Two Questions, you may be able to answer: 1) Are your Regen settings remembered when you next power the car up and go into drive? 2) Does One Pedal driving not also do auto Regen or are they actually separate?
I don't recall if the regen settings are remembered. I will have to test. The one pedal driving is regen and acceleration all controlled by the accelerator pedal.
What is the difference between i-pedal and the max regen setting? Also have you noticed any difference in the Auto regen setting when you have it on 1-2-3? I usually have it on 3 then turn Auto on but I don't know if it matters. I prefer to use i-pedal but it prevents the front motor from disengaging in Eco so it uses more juice.
i-Pedal allows you to drive with only the accelerator pedal. The Max regen setting requires you to pull the left paddle and hold it if you want to stop the car. Max regen by pulling the left paddle allows you to access more regen to slow down more than level 3. When using Auto regen the previously set manual regen level has no effect. Auto is fully automatic and not related or linked to the manual settings. From what I have seen i-Pedal does not prevent the front motor from disengaging, I will have to look again to confirm.
What’s the best charging speeds have you gotten on rapid/fast chargers and what was the temperature at the time, have you been impressed or satisfied or even less than satisfied??
Hi there great videos. We bought a 23 ev6 wind yesterday. But we found a small round power button underneath the steering wheel where your right knee would be. Just above the airbag logo. It’s lighted. But when pressed I don’t see what it does. Any idea?
Thank you very much. I have nothing on my car in that area, and I just went to look. Since it is snowing wet snow, I had to do it from inside the car, recline and back up my seat all the way and lay down with my head under the column and dash to look. I looked everywhere and have nothing other than the word Airbag stamped into the plastic. If you are on Facebook please send me a picture via Messenger, or right on my personal Facebook feed. Just look for André Laurence and you will find me, or use my Facebook link on my Web site (www.ev-olution.ca)
This means that you have some slight ambient lighting by your feet on the driver and passenger side of the vehicle. Tapping the button will change the color of the ambient lighting.
@@EV-olution it isn't in her particular version of the vehicle. Only the GT-Line (and GT) has the full ambient lighting (which is controlled on the touchscreen). The Wind has a version where there is some goofy lighting (only down by your feet) which is controlled by this button. I test drove this vehicle and almost bought it, but didn't. I finally test drove the car in the dark and the lighting is weak and only down by the feet of the driver and passenger. Not even sure why they added this. It is part of the tech package that includes turn signal blind spot cameras and a couple other features not typically included in the base AWD Wind package. I also noticed, while test driving a bunch of EV6, that this is not a common add-on feature, so even finding one with this is pretty rare (at least in my area where one dealership had 2 with this package and no other dealers had any with these). That is out of about 12 overall Wind AWD vehicles.
@@nuzridge that explains it. US vs Canada. In Canada the versions are different and we tend to get more included in all trims, with less add-on options. Thank you for the details.
I am glad I could make you laugh. You may be interested to know that I have bloopers at the end of all my videos. If I can't laugh at myself, who can I laugh at 😎
My 2024 ev6 gt-line package 2 has finally come in. I would just like to confirm that the v2l exterior adaptor, lvl 1 charge cable and the trunk cover is included and not a separate purchase. I’m based out of B.C. Canada. My dealer is telling me I have to purchase these items separately.
My 2022 included everything and I am pretty confident that the 2024 should include them as well since it is the top trim. You should double check the inclusions on the EV6 page of the Kia Canada site.
This is where everything is listed (link below). If you expand the section called Interior, it lists the cargo cover under the GT Line 2. Same thing for the V2L under technology. Your dealer is trying to rip you off. Don't let them. The GT-Line 2 includes everything. www.kia.ca/en/vehicles/2023/ev6/specs?compare&return=%2Fen%2Fshopping-tools%2Fbuild-and-price%3FisDeliveryAndDestination%3Dtrue%26currentVehicleTrimCode%3DE6151P%26step%3D2%26currentVehiclePkgCode%3D%2B%26exteriorColourCode%3DABP%26interiorColourCode%3DBCSL%26paymentFrequency%3DWEEKLY%26kilometerAllowance%3DKMALL16%26loanTerm%3D84%26leaseTerm%3D60%26yearCashCustomize%3D5%26loanCashYrRange%3D24000%26method%3Dlease%26model%3DEV6%26year%3D2023%26isElectric%3Dtrue%26engineType%3DEV
@@EV-olution yeah I’m not letting them rip me off. What a-hole. He was discussing options with me and I said point blank I thought the package two included everything. He’s like nope. Thank you for the ammunition .
Andre, I have an EV6 on order and was wondering if my golf clubs will fit in the cargo space. I do know they won't going straight across side to side due to the space taken for the rear corner charge port placement. However, any chance you have access to a set of clubs to see if they will fit on a diagonal? As well, I understand the cargo floor is removable to gain additional capacity. A demonstration of that feature would be terrific.
@@EV-olution Yep,seats up. Don't even need to remove the false floor. I actually seen a photo from someone on a facebook group who got two sets of clubs and two trolleys in there
There is a video on TH-cam the compares the EV6 and Model Y cargo space and the presenter measures the load space at various points. You could measure your golf bag and determine if it will fit.
This isn’t a hidden feature but more of a tip. We have a 2023 EV6 GT-Line 2 and we were shocked how gutless and tinny the audio system sounds. This is a common gripe. I commute weekly from Vancouver Island to Vancouver and I like my music. An easy fix is a small rumbler that fits under the trunk floor - but it doesn’t add a lot of sound quality, just a rumble and doesn’t help the system holistically. On the other end of the spectrum, if one has the resources, you can add a custom fibreglass-moulded sub enclosure and subwoofer where the existing one is. But $$$. A more mid-range (no pun intended) choice is something like a JL Audio 8-12” enclosed subwoofer (NB: I opted for the 10”) which I had professionally installed along with a bass knob hidden under the steering wheel around my right knee. I cannot express how MASSIVE a difference this makes - and I hope they fix this in the upcoming refresh. Even with the bass turned all the way down, it’s still on a little bit - and what that does is fill in the missing frequencies and makes all of the other frequencies sound brighter and fuller. Turn it up halfway and it really bumps without sounding like I’m trying recapture my misspent youth! The enclosed sub does not have to be hard mounted into the trunk - it just sits on the floor and the heft of it means it won’t really move on its own. It has a minimal footprint (I have it up on its end, which also positions it in the most beneficial ‘rear-firing’ configuration) and is easily unplugged and removed if I need that extra space. PROTIP: I happened to have a set of WeatherTech 81BS1 8CTK1 CargoTech Cargo Containment System from our old 2020 Kia Niro - which holds it in place perfectly!
Excellent information, thank you. I ended up configuring the sound settings to maximize bass, increase mids, decreased the highs, shifted the sound 1 position backwards, and tuned the Meridian junk that is in there to what my ears liked. It isn't the best, but much better than the stock settings and avoided me spending more money on "accessories" ;-) Thanks again.
Cheers André.
I do have other EV6 related videos, and just as an FYI, I have bloopers at the end of all my videos since late 2019 😎 Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe to not miss my future videos.
im here for the bloopers reels at the end. funny touch. thanks for this videos
I am glad like the bloopers. I have added some to the end of each video since 2019 😎
The first tip about dipping the exterior mirrors is brilliant. I’ve had my EV6 for 6 months and despite searching the handbook I figured that wasn’t something available on the car. Thanks!
I am glad I could help, and thanks for watching my video. In case you did not know, I have other EV6 related videos on my channel.
@@chrislonghurst correct. Once they are dipped you can set them how you like and the next time you use the feature the mirrors will use that setting.
I really appreciate the hidden features comments because the car is so new, the dealership does not know much about it. This car is awesome! Fun!
Thank you for the tip. Funny thing, I met a subscriber at the Montréal EV show yesterday and he showed it to me! I added it to the list 😎
Thanks... I really like your video. Today we're getting our EV6. Your video help me to understand the vehicle. Mostly I like you shows everything so simple way. No drama, no dramatic, it's make easy to understand
Congratulations on your new EV6, and I am glad I could help 😎
Thank you 😎
The included outtakes are as good as ever. Thank you for sharing it all.
Thank you, I am glad I could make you laugh.

Thanks. This video was very useful for my EV6 that I’m getting in 6 weeks!
You are very welcome. Congratulations on your soon-to-be-yours EV6! I finally have a part 2 "hidden" features video coming in a little over 3 weeks.
Thank you for your very helpful videos on the EV6. It was also a pleasure to meet you yesterday at the Montreal electric véhicule show and to be able to test drive this wonderful car. Keep it up, can’t wait to receive mine.

Merci Michel, ce fut un plaisir et je suis heureux que vous avez aimé votre tour derrière le volant de ma EV6.
Taking delivery of mine early septembre. The tilting mirrors in reverse will be very useful !! Glad you talked about it.
You are going to love your EV6. I will be making a part 2 video because there are other things worth talking about.
I ahve two questions for you:
(1) Have you updated the nav software? I have a video that explains how to do it for free. Link here: th-cam.com/video/DuB6kdvNT1k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=e_NMjFRd_ziJAPos
The only difference with the EV6 is that you have to use a USB memory key instead of the SD Card shown.
I agree 100%. I use them all the time when I back into a spot near a curb or cement border.
Bloopers made me subscribe! "Sean Connery here" was perfect! Informative video too, thanks!
LoL. It's not just you, I get that a lot 😎. I am glad my video was helpful, and thanks for watching.
@@EV-olutionis that a typical accent for people in your part of the world?
There's two other very useful features you haven't mentioned. 😊
If you tap and hold on the area on the ventilation/media panel underneath the screens, where you shift between media and ventilation, you will after a few seconds get the option to choose which functionality you want to be shown as default.
Choose one, tap on the panel, and see that it now automatically shifts back to your preferred layout after a few seconds. 😉
Oh, and you can remove the screen protector on the panel too - and it's looking really nice and shiny underneath.
Very helpful, do you know if there is any way to reduce the backward driving noise, I wake up the neighbours with it every day. Thanks!
The reverse tone is not something that can be disabled, sorry.
Great video! Thank you again for this. (Please don't pay too much attention to the mockers saying this is all in the manual.... - such is the case for the majority of car videos on you tube!)
Could you please do a video on the smart cruise control and lane keep assist of the EV6 - and whether you notice any improvement over the Niro - specifically in the lane keep assist?
My Niro EV also had it, but oddly no other videos I have seen mention it. I still prefer i-Pedal though
@@EV-olution E-pedal is way better, but I use what I have. Got used to it and it does the job. Can't wait for a proper E-pedal though.
I agree and I use i-Pedal all of the time in city driving; it is very convenient.
Plenty of extra hidden features:
NSCC navigation based cruise control:
When you enable CC then after 3 seconds the speed limit sign will blink.
Awesome video. I thought I had thoroughly explored my EV6 GT-line... but your video exposed a few things I didn't discover! Thanks for making it!
Thanks for the tip. You may have missed my first EV6 video 😎 th-cam.com/video/vPvTgfWyzrk/w-d-xo.html
Excellent video! Just ordered my EV6 and this really helps. Thanks!
Thank you very much. I am glad you liked it and that I could help. Congratulations on your order.
@@jhindson88 I will give it a try tomorrow if I get the time, but the EV6 is in high demand for road tests at the Montréal EV show.
You can also adjust the mirror tilt position by putting in reverse so mirrors tilt, then make adjustments and save with the memory button.
That would explain why they changed position after a series of test drives at one of the events i was a volunteer with my car. Thank you very much, I added it to the list of things for the second features video.
SUBSCRIBED. Excellent content. Direct to the matter, no BS, no opinionated. Clear and straight to the matter.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate your comment... and your subscription 😎
I noticed the rear mat anchors in the EV6, but since I had Tuxmat mats in my Niro EV I never had the issue you mention. Good to know. Thanks.
There are also multi levels of auto regen if when you are in auto you pull on the left paddle.
I had not noticed that! Thank you very much.
You are correct, there is no locking mechanism even though it looks like one could be there. It's a bit silly.
@@EV-olution Someone on a forum suggested that it's a latch that engages when the airbags are deployed, to keep stuff inside from flying around the cabin.
We may not be talking about the same thing. Can you send me a picture on Facebook?
Excellente vidéo, encore une fois. Et oui, j'ai appris des choses que je ne savais pas!!! Et tes fins sont toujours crampantes (bloopers). Merci !
Merci Michel, j'apprécie et je suis heureux que je puisse te faire rire 😎
Thanks for the tips. I hope these tips are also working with a German version of the EV6. I will get my one in about 2 weeks...... I hope that the air distrubution is programable. In my Kona the air always comes from bottom, mid and window. I hate the air in the middle blowing in my face. Even after the update, on the screen it is nearly not visible which position is selected. Ok, it is a Hyundai, hope that Kia is smarter. LG Bernd
Let me know once you get it. I am curious to know if they work with the German version.
Thanks for this. While I don’t have one of these they are on my short list of cars. Enjoy.
I am glad you like it and thank you for taking the time to watch, I really do appreciate it.
Very informative video that reveals some hidden features, just like you did one for Niro EV. Cheers!
Perhaps also go over the auto headlight dimming function. A bit tricky
That would make for a good item for a how-to video. Thank you.
I love your bloopers jajajajajajajajaja, good video.
Thank you very much.
The section in question, about folding the rear seats down and back up, starts at 7 minutes 15 seconds:

Congratulations on your purchase, you are going to love it, and thanks.
Great video. Have had my ev6 for 6 weeks and there is a lot to learn.
Congratulations on your new EV6! You picked the best colour 😎
@@novax7514 wish mine was like that ...
I never touch them accidently, can't figure out why anyone has a problem with this. I keep my hand away from those buttons without even thinking about it.
I sometimes brush the touch buttons when using the multifunction climate/radio interface, and yes, I will be making a "Things I hate video" 😎
@@EV-olution Pity there is not some simple clip on after market solution.
Another great video 🙌🏾!
Thank you very much
Thanks for your work,,,,
Question: what is your experience with the digital key?
Unfortunately the 2022 EV6 does not have the digital key like the new 2023 Niro EV, so I have no idea how well it works.
Lots of the digital buttons have a "long press" option which accesses settings for that button/feature.
Yes, sir. Lots of things were discovered since making this video 2 years ago. I have to make a part 2 video since there are other things that I have found, and that viewers have mentioned. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it.
@@EV-olution Get that part 2 done. I just bought one and want to see if I'm unaware of anything! :)

This guy does an awesome impression of a young Carl Sagan
Yeah, I get that from time to time 😎, and thanks for using the "young" descriptive, it makes me feel good 😉
Another feature.
Thank you.

Great bloopers moments!
Thank you very much.
FYI, I like the Wolverine comment that is gone, especially since I am Canadian 😎
You need to send this video to other youtube makers who are reviewing the EV6..they all are mad about heater/radio controls ..well done
Those reviews drive me insane! The steering wheel can control almost everything to do with the radio and when the touch controls are on radio there’s still a square dedicated to the hvac system… it’s actually quite intuitive.
Thank you and feel free to share my video where you deem appropriate. I also dislike reviews that don't give the full picture 😎

Hello! I have also made the change from the Kia Niro EV (or Kia Eniro in Spain) to the EV6, in my case an EV6 GTLine Premium AWD, it is a spectacular change, the car is impressive, and I am still learning about all its options
I don't know if you have discovered that the climate-radio menu can be adjusted so that it always stays in one of the options, by pressing the climate option a menu appears that by default is deactivated, you can put the climate or the radio menu and like this it always comes back to what you want
Saludos!!!

This was a really good video thanks for the info! Do you think having the regen in “auto” is the best way to use it and maximize battery?
Thank you very much and thanks for watching. Regarding your question, I prefer to select the regen manually. When driving on the highway, or a secondary road where there are not many stops, I prefer regen at 0 so the car can coast for a long time without pressing the accelerator pedal. That is far more efficient than having regen on, even at 1, and pressing the pedal to maintain speed. It drives my wife nuts that I change the regen on the fly when needed, but it is far more efficient. Also to note, I use adaptive cruise control on the highway most of the time so regen settings are not relevant in that case.
Thanks for all those details.
You remind me of Smith in the Matrix!!!!
I am glad you found the video useful Mr. Anderson 😎
Love all the bloopers at the end! 🤪
The Sean Connery bit was gold 😂
You could have also explained the "Snow" mode, when you push and hold the drive mode selector button. Or is that already too widely known?
That will be covered this winter when I have snow because I want to know exactly what it does and how the car behaves in snow mode. Just saying it is there is not as useful as a detailed explanation. Thank you for the reminder, I have written it down to not forget 😎
Great job with the video and information, very helpful.
Thank you, I am glad could help.
Thank you! Great video as always.
Thank you!
Great video, thanks. I'm looking forward to your dash cam install video :)
Thank you. Those are going to be a big job 😎
Thanks
Hey Andre, great little review. I've just put my $$s down on an EV6 having had an awesome test drive. It's a 12 month wait here in Australia but I'm keeping entertained trawling through EV6 youtube stuff. Loved your video, very helpful and clear... also loved the bloopers! 😂 And love the T-shirt... I'm coming after one of those!😃
Hi Mark, thanks for watching my videos. I hope you are subscribed 😉
It is pretty good that you "only" have to wait 12 months.
Hey Mark, Similar wait time in the uk, Mine is due next week after deposit May 7th last year..
Another question please…would you, on a regular basis, charge at 100% your EV6 at home? Thanks…
@EV-olution I know and its sad it doesn't work on ours..🙄
You forgot the hiddin feature in the dual screen. If you hold the switch button you can chose that it switch back automatically
Yep, that was mentioned by another viewer when I released the video. I added it to my list of things for the next "hidden" features video. Thanks!
Thank you for another wonderful video! I also have an EV6, and the turn lights on when doors open icon makes sense in hindsight, but I wasn't sure what it was until you showed it, and that I realized that I was missing it as a feature, even though it is not a hidden feature.
A few things I haven't been able to figure out, that you might know or can confirm:
Unrelated fun facts:
Nice that you bought the fastest charing color 😉😎
1) From what I understand the orange light is the indicator that the 12V battery is being maintained.
Another great video
Surround camera view in Kia EV6 GT Line,
I have found this unreliable when judging the distance of my vehicle from say a parking line in FRONT of me. The surround camera view suggests I am on the line in front of me when you are in fact 30-40cm away from the line.
What has been your experience?
Thank you very much.
I have not noticed a discrepancy in the distance for the front, but I have not measured it. The rear seems pretty accurate.
I actually have a video about heat pumps and talk about this.
hi, have you not made an video how to turn off the 5x bib bib sound when you start the car?
Unfortunately I have not seen a setting to turn off the beep starting sound, only the regular start up sound can be disabled. I would have to test, but I think when you activate the start up sound the beeping stops. I need to test that.
Fasten your seatbelt before starting. It is the seatbelt warning sound.
@ no, it is the starting sound 5-6x bib bib
I saw somewhere that you can set your key to be recognized at the back door and the back door will open automatically after three beeps
Yes, you are correct. Kia opted for smart key detection instead of swiping your foot under the car.
I agree
Helpful video -- and good work :)
Thank you, I appreciate it.
Two Questions, you may be able to answer:
1) Are your Regen settings remembered when you next power the car up and go into drive?
2) Does One Pedal driving not also do auto Regen or are they actually separate?
I don't recall if the regen settings are remembered. I will have to test.
The one pedal driving is regen and acceleration all controlled by the accelerator pedal.
I verified last night, and again this morning, and regen setting is persistent.
Regen setting is otherwise persistent, but iPedal has to be reactivated every effin single time :(
That is correct.
Very useful, thanks
Glad I could help and thanks for watching.
@@EV-olution i-pedal absolutely does prevent the front motor from disengaging even in eco mode.
@@Mildern thank you
I just got back from a meeting and I can confirm that i-Pedal forces AWD in all modes, not just Eco. This will be part of my part 2 video. Thank you.
If you lose 12 volt power to open the doors while inside is there a manual override or button to exit the EV6?
Yes. There is a lock that your can insert the key that can be ejected from the key fob.
What’s the best charging speeds have you gotten on rapid/fast chargers and what was the temperature at the time, have you been impressed or satisfied or even less than satisfied??
I have not tried DCFC yet. I have not needed it and have been too busy. I will be making a video about it.
Absolutely brilliant!
Mouth working not speach me understand 😅
Thank you very much 😎
Hi there great videos.
@@nuzridge the EV6 ambient lighting color and intensity are controlled in the touchscreen.
Bloopers were very funny 🤣
On the Kia Canada site I can’t seem to find where it lists everything that is included.
This is where everything is listed (link below). If you expand the section called Interior, it lists the cargo cover under the GT Line 2. Same thing for the V2L under technology. Your dealer is trying to rip you off. Don't let them. The GT-Line 2 includes everything.

I would need to find a friend with a set of golf clubs to try.
Golf clubs fit fine. I have my clubs and a fold up trolley in there with no problems
@@ChillDara09 with the seats up?
