Idk If this is something youd want to do, or be able to do, but doing a video on "The 4th Trimester" or the post-partum period might be very useful in the whole conversation about pregnancy that you're creating here! Many first time moms aren't prepared for the post-partum period!

Agreed!! Would be such a wonderful idea. I get my friends a whole postpartum basket for their baby shower gift, instead of things for baby. I’m pregnant with my third and had no clue what postpartum was like when I had my first. It’s still so hush hush to talk about unfortunately!

She said she would go on paternity leave after birth so I think that also means not picking up a camera.
I‘m pretty positive though that she will return doing more videos once she feels ready :D

@@joy_yt99 Maternity* leave is for mothers, paternity leave is for fathers. She is probably documenting what she’s going through, knowing her which is not a bad thing. Those three months go by so quickly. I think what she meant was she won’t be posting any videos within the 3 month maternity leave period. But I doubt she would come back after those three months with no content recorded at all to post.

I like that they call it a "birth preferences" plan, instead of a "birth plan". The former more properly conveys the fact that things can be unpredictable!

I remember when Claudia Kellgren-Fozard was pregnant, Jessica did an outtakes video of all the work they had to do to hide her pregnant belly after they officially announced. Once of the funniest/saddest things was a clip where they were doing a Christmas video, and Claudia went off screen to change or something, and went from laughing hysterically to crying in the space of 15 seconds. Which they both said happened pretty often. Hormones gonna hormone.
And so many congratulations on the baby! Damn, you are a trooper. Plus, you navigated this pregnancy while being so transparent, so well, and it's going to help so many people with chronic illnesses or disabilities who are worried about having children.

it reminds me of when Laura Bailey was pregnant and was livestreaming critical role before they had announced they're were having a child but she was clearly showing. So everytime she needed the bathroom one Sam who sat next to her got up at the same time to cover her - and looking back it looked so weird but i don't think anyone knew at the time

This was truly an outstanding contribution to the internet. My wife went full term with our first pregnency, only to have to give birth to a stillborn son.She was deeply depressed for months, even joining a women's group of similar situation folks- it helped her a small bit. Then a year later, our daughter came along and all went well (Now 32 years old). Didn't realize all the pain wife went through.
You did a splendid job recording all your phases, watched non-stop. Great job, Hannah. Thanks!

I used an Epi-No device for stretching before the birth :). I felt that it gave me a level of confidence with regard to a babies head fitting through my vagina after using it for 1-2 weeks. I didn't tear with both pregnancies, but again that might just have been luck. It definitely helped me mentally and I found it way more comfortable than doing a manual massage as it is sooooo difficult to reach. Best of luck for the birth.

    • @mariannecotte6141
      @mariannecotte6141 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Sara,
I've been wondering about using an Epi-No myself. My midwife is quite opposed to it with no reason other than "my kind of preparation will be enough" whereas I feel like the epi-no would help reassure me and make me understand the feelings of giving birth better. Anyhoo, would you be okay to share
      - when you started using it? I've heard using it too early may cause contractions and risk premature labour
      - if you did it on your own or with the help of a professional? I'm a bit worried about going against my midwife's wishes on my own and doing something wrong
      ?
Thanks in advance and a good day to you :)

Though both our children are grown, watching these has made me sort of wish I could sit down with you and share some of the stories from my wife's pregnancies. One that I can do quick, when you mentioned crying at the slightest emotional trigger it reminded me of my wife's first pregnancy. She came out to the living room sobbing uncontrollably, and I was unable to do anything to calm her down. After sobbing into my shoulder for twenty straight minutes she burst out "He died!" .... she cried on my shoulder for twenty minutes because of something that happened in a sitcom.

It’s good you explored all your options but also accept that the birth doesn’t always go to plan (my mum had to have me early via caesarean as she was showing signs of pre eclampsia; bright side was we were home for Christmas).

My daughter would punch the HECK out of my cervix in the third trimester, and when the doctor did the final cervical inspection before labor she said it was coming along well and that my daughter's punches probably had a lot to do with it. Unfortunately they hurt very badly, so I got good at keeping her off of my cervix, so by the time labor rolled around my cervix was NOT ready. So my advice? Just grin and bear it with the punches. They're important.

The whole journey has really opened my eyes to the similarities between pregnancy (which is what a lot of people go through) and chronic pain/chronic illness/disability (which always feels very isolating). I have ankylosing spondylitis, an inflammatory arthritis of the spine and pelvis, which basically has a lot of the same symptoms and management that you experienced in the third trimester - the back pain and severe fatigue and "hangovers" after social events and generally feeling sick and uncomfortable. Makes you realise that there are lots of things that people go through that are actually quite similar and could foster good empathy. Congrats on your little one (and for making it through some tough weeks and months already)! 💕

Congratulations on baby Rowan! I opted for a birth centre which was half a mile from the main hospital. I called after 30 hours of labour to get some meds as I was still 7 mins apart and they couldn't see me as it was staff changeover time. I was sent to the hospital instead and I'll never stop being grateful for that happy accident. My waters broke as I walked through the doors of the hospital, then I went to every 3 minutes and the midwife discovered she was breech. Rushed in for an emergency csection and all was good. I'm sure nothing awful would have happened if I'd had to have travelled to the hospital, but it would have been a lot more stressful

Hannah, you have the perfect voice for Audible book narration, and I could swear I have heard your voice narrating books at Audible. But I also think that among perhaps half a dozen different, distinct, types of British accent, yours belongs to the narrator genre, and if it is a woman’s voice of the genre I am hearing, at Audible, your voice, and you personally, will now always come to my mind, as a kind of automatic association.

The part where you practice perineal massage reminds me so much of the pelvic floor physical therapy I had last year (not from giving birth, just tight PF muscles lol) but I would also totally have some parts of the pelvic floor muscles that would be tighter than the others. I found out that I always cross my right leg over my left and it was making the right side tighter. Pelvic floors are so interesting.

I am also 5'0". My husband is 6'6" and long through the torso. Our 3 babies were all 8lbs +/- 4oz, and about 19" long. No issues with birthing them except the oldest turned frank breech at 37.5wks. She resisted all efforts to turn her, so because my OB group was not experienced enough with vag breech she was a c/s. The other 2 were unmedicated VBACs, no problems except a small tear.

Just realized I was just as heavy when I came out at 40 weeks as your baby was at 32 weeks 😂😂 I was a teeny tiny baby. Doctors were worried about how small I was, but I was extremely healthy in every other department so I didn’t have to stay in the hospital.

You mentioned that your emotions could spiral all of a sudden. Mine do too when I am on Prednisone. Once I stubbed my toe and I was totally happy before that moment. It was like a switch had been flipped and I fell to the floor like a 5 year old and began bawling. Hormones are weird.

I’ve never heard of the term lightning crotch before, but it’s also something I’ve experienced with endo! I manage by putting a hot water bottle or microwaveable plushy right between my legs 😂 Not glamorous but it helps aha
Big congratulations on baby Rowan, you and Dan are going to be such great parents!

Is it necessary to change the ileostomy pouch shortly after birth, due to the rapid drop in skin tension? Will post-birth pouch changes be different somehow? I suppose I could google it... 🙂

Congrats on having the baby!!! WOW that flew by! I love how you talk about how you get to choose to have a vaginal birth or not and actually it was the baby who decided! Also I'm pretty sure the lightning crotch comes from your pelvis splitting down the front, as you may or may not know, women's pelvis' aren't fixed in the middle but held by cartilage which widens during pregnancy, so the baby can fit through the bottom. This can happen quickly and be very painful. This can also happen quite early on and can cause SPD which basically means your hips fall apart completely and many women end up bed bound or on crutches!!
