  • The education system is now more fractured than ever, divided by race and religion, and the “haves” and the “have-nots”. The quality of teachers produced by the teacher training colleges is in question and the discriminatory nature is causing resentment, made worse by those in power who use the minority as scapegoats.

Yes at one time we used to be admired for our English proficiency and that was in the pre Merdeka era and in the early years of independence and right through the 1960s and 1970s.
When Tunku Abdul Rahman was our first PM we had arguably one of the best education system in the world. Then the English language was the medium of instruction from elementary to tertiary level.English was given priority and emphasis but that soon changed with the passing of the National Language Act in 1967.
The nationalists and especially those from Gapena,GPMS and other Malay NGOs were vehemtly against the English as the medium of instruction and that Malay should be the main medium of instruction. That's the beginning of the decline of the English language and the rot had set ini.Yes that was the biggest mistake we had made and is felt today

I am afraid that is not much true. English is taught at school from the early age, most Malaysians can speak English and some more fluent than the others. even the medium that is used in the universities are mostly in English in these days. xoxo

Syed Siddiq's analysis is correct. The Chinese emphasize science,Maths,Commerce and English. They can get job easier in big cities like KL, Penang,Singapore , Hong Kong,Taipei, and even San Francisco or Toronto. There is no alternative if you want the country to progress but unfortunately there are people who can influence the mind of the pupils to think that these subjects are the products of colonialism.

Stop talking about the rot in the system. Change it for the Malays while the elite rich Malays move money out of the country and make msia a third world country. Only the honest Malays can change this rot.

Rich content, though. I hope the content creator will put out another content about what YB Saddiq brought up recently about, The Elective Subjects in local university curriculums.

Please do not tie the national schools with religion. Those who want to study religion can go to KAFA. National school should focus more on (STEM) to make students competative in this challenging world. And one more thing its about time that the subject of 'Evolution' be thought in all schools.

Its very Simple- Lee Kuan Yew was a Top Science Graduate and Dr M was a Racist Indian Graduate, and while Singapore have Top Ministers, Malaysia have bottom Feeders, cantau PMs and Ministers. Why in Malaysia even SPM Exams must have pass in BM, Sejarah, and even Moral is an Exam Subject, and up to today even argue about BM and DLP Classes, Vernacular, Religious Schools. One Minister even injected Arabic Text, Jawi, Black Shoes..plays with BM and English and more stupidity on and on. With these hung around our your necks can Malaysia be advancing or regressing into Arabic & Alice Wonderland?

Wrong? Depend on who u ask n what is the standard u want. Ask some they will say Malaysia is better n very high standard, for example, compare with the Taliban. So no problem. Ask those who are professionals n with high education background, Malaysia is falling behind. Majority wins, so no problem with Malaysia national education system. Malaysia always boleh.
