I have a love for the Advance and Rush jumps, in just how much they focus on the Spikyness of the jump. It not just an orb of light that happens to deal damage, these are Qills that spin like a buzz saw to tear though enemies.

My theory for why squash and stretch was removed from the Frontiers jumpball was so it’d be easier to tell when Sonic is using the drop dash, since that move also uses squash and stretch. This isn’t confirmed or anything but I think it’s pretty plausible.
I always prefer ones that just have him curled up or accentuate this (Heroes, 06 etc.), always made Sonic feel dynamic and acrobatic, solid balls are hotdog water imo

I honestly prefer the look of Sonic spinning without the actual flashing ball effect. I just like the look of the physical exertion and style of Sonic just being himself.

I'd give it as a tie between Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic 06 jump animations. Specifically loved the Sonic 06 little jump landing animation when you use a spring. Looks like he tries softening the fall. Sonic Heroes was actually good at predicting how they land on their feet.

I'm a huge fan of how Sonic 06 did the jump. It feels so natural and clean. No effects surrounding Sonic, but it's just him in a spinning ball form.
To me I feel like the secret to a good Sonic jump is a good mixture of the way he curls and the ball, (or circle) part off it. It's like how you try to balance out a Yugioh deck with the right monsters, spells, and traps to have good combos, and with the right combo of how Sonic's jump looks it'll look great.

Currently Sonic Frontiers jump animation have a lot of details, when his start jumping you can see him curl into a ball which was not present In Sonic Unleashed/Generations/Forces.
About the squash and stretch while jumping, his doing this only if you do an drop dash, which make sense.
I honestly really like the Forces and Frontiers jumpball, idk exactly what it is, but it's my personal favorite

The sonic heroes and SA2 jumps are supposed to make it look like sonic is spinning so fast that it has a trail and makes it look like he’s moving slowly

To summarize the 3D Sonic games' jumps, they were fine in Adventure 1 and 2, got way more realistic and overall generally way better in Unleashed and Generations, then Forces make the animation suck really bad with a blue glowing ball, and then for some stupid reason they brought back the same animation for Frontiers.
Imo the forces and frontiers one didnt look bad, they are fine

I think if you take all of your opinions and reverse them, you'd basically have my ranking. I really hate the "flicker" effect that older spinballs have and I think SA2 is the first jump animation to actually look good. Also, if it's just a ball, and I can't see Sonic, Imma downvote that faster than a redditor.

Love the video idea! I kinda always liked seeing Sonic jump. I dont like Generations, Unleashed, Frontiers or Colors. It feels lazy, I liked when you can actually see Sonic somersaulting.

Personally I despise Lost World, Colors, Forces, Frontiers. They look very bland it's a shiny ball with spikes coming out. They look very awkward. Lost World's is super lazy it's just a blue ball....that is literally it it sucks as bad as Lost World's whole cartoonish aesthetic approach.
As for Shadow, uh I don't really like the animations in this game. Shadow is way too unnaturally stretchy like a stretch doll which makes him look very awkward.
I do like Adventure 1, Heroes and 06 jumps out of the bunch.
Yeah lost world being nothing but a ball does bug me just a bit, but I at least kinda appreciate it’s fitting the cartoony aesthetic, but that kinda just seems like an excuse on the devs
