    ***WARNING*** You will need to be careful that you don't forget to pick up your gooseneck support arm (stinger) when you hook back up. Because your stinger support cross-member is below the top of the truck frame rail, if you leave the stinger down it will catch the inside of the frame rails when you turn and bend the stinger and piston. Don't ask me how I know. I ended up plating over the top of my frame rails and used countersunk bolts so it left a nice flat and smooth surface. That way if I forget to pick up the stinger it will just slide off instead of catching the frame.

  • @kaydog2008
    @kaydog2008 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    Blame the one who drilled the holes with out messuring center to center from each hole.👈😉👈 Mike on the fifth wheel should of drilled 2 holes on each side of the center hole for 1/8" wall steel pipe 3/4" or 1" ID (for the bolts) to be welded at both ends on the outside grinded flush for added support. It's a little more work but it's much stronger and Captian proof. 👈🤓👍Another tip have some steel blocks of diffirent thickness to put between the cross member and the push arm to lift the front of the trailer higher if the front of the trailer ever bottoms out. Like at driveway entrances that dip down from the main road.

    Transfer punches are much more accurate for transferring hole marks and automatically puts your center punch. If you drill hole small and ream to size much easier than drill bit.

Also, the drill press operator was not paying full attention to center punching the hole, because the markings Mike made were irregular .
