You’ve gotta love Matt’s honesty - he’s happy to slag his cars off yet is trying to sell them to his customers. Refreshingly honest rather than the usual car salesman trying to pretend every car is a beauty!
Sadly, an honest car dealer is a rarity indeed, and Matt deserves the recognition as part of the minority of dealers with integrity. My brother lived down the road from Matt's dealership for years and bought a few cars from over the years that were always excellent. In fact, my brother told me 'Matt actually talked me out of more cars than he sold me.' (Considering my brother is an automotive F*ckwit that is so refreshing to hear.' ) I wouldn't hesitate to buy a car from High Peak.
An unusually honest salesman who doesn't absolutely love every car he sells, with a great head for business for someone so young. Keep up the good work.
Hi Matt, my dad had a car show room on the50s until 1999. As a kid I loved looking round the cars. When I was about 5 there were e types mk10s, sunbeam alpines big humbers et al. My treat every Friday night he brought a flash car home and took me for a rip in it. Esp enjoyed the convertibles. My first car was a herald convertible. If u went over a bumpy road the doors used to self open. He ran the attached workshop and I was amazed when he had several engines etc doing a bit of work here and there, answering the phone, doing recovery call outs. I used To drive at 10 yrs old the old land rovers used to shunt all the smashed up cars about. Tow bar front and back, no roof left outdoors all year.lovely smell, canvass roofs rotten. He could only read but not write ( something I learnt after he died it just never struck me)my mother administered his business. He left school at 14 but his general knowledge was incredible was in the last part of the war and died aged 94. He owned several motor related businesses. I have very fond memories of his “garage”. The police used to borrow cars as they had few. I don’t think he ever skinned a customer wether car sales or spannering. Would help anyone. This vlog has flooded my memory myself a tender 64 yrs. thankyou and nice stock
I own a dealership in Lincoln and watching your videos there are a lot of parallels. Very similar stock profile and numbers and seemingly the same issues, stock that you think should fly out the door sits around for ages, people expecting the world for not a lot of money and renting a dilapidated premises with landlords unwilling to sell it! As a blanket rule we do not source vehicles newer than 4 years so we reduce the risk to a degree of competing against a “main dealer”. Nice to have a little insight behind the scenes!
Yes that’s right. I’d love to stock newer cars still under warranty but there would be too much competition from main dealers who have a slicker operation
Ive never sold cars but had a business some years ago. There was always customers who had endless and unrealistic expectations and wanted to pay peanuts. Seems to be universal no matter what industry you're in.
Matt is the very first dealer that is as honest as you’d like. Having just been round the hills with a dealer, it is very refreshing to see Matt’s stock list, and his videos are fantastic. Well done Matt, for bringing some trust back into 2nd hand cars. 👍
He reminds me of a superb estate agent I visited once in Schull, County Cork, Ireland. All his properties in the window display were accompanied by a little ditto. Not all were flattering, but they were all entertaining, funny, and well written. I'm sure he sold many with his honesty and whit ❤
Hello Matt, I have a Fiat Tipo Lounge, it’s a 5 door Petrol 1.0L supercharger, and I’ve had Honda C-RV, Several Mercs, and I can honestly tell you that, it’s the most reliable, cheap to run and insure car I’ve ever owned. I’m well aware of the old an acronym: Fix It Again Tomorrow, which is true of the fiats my poor dad bought in his day, but these ones above in your forecourt are very reliable, but it’s like any machine, if you wait until the ‘Red Light’ comes on you’ll never be out of trouble. Great videos, I agree with one of your other followers, (TH-camrs), regarding your cars for the next time, I’d certainly look at your forecourt ANY/EVERY day! Yours truly ross
Stop worrying about the SL. I have put 120000 miles on mine over 16 years of regular use…. and it still looks like new… leather, steering wheel, pedals, everything. I also love the car and won’t sell it. 😎👍
Some decent cars there Matt - the 430d is Mineral Grey metallic. It’s a shame it’s missing the Harman Kardon audio and the 19” alloys. The SL is absolutely stunning - only ever going one way in value, but I’d still enjoy it on a lovely summer’s day, otherwise what’s the point. The Jaaaag is another bargain car too - again I think a future classic and still looks fresh today!
Another great video from the garage Matt. I absolutely love that XKR. Don’t stress too much about the building. It’s you who sell your cars and it is very refreshing to find someone as honest and straightforward as yourself. I would far rather buy a car from an enthusiast like yourself than from some corporate suit in a disinfected showroom. More power to you!
Hey Matt, In the short term there's nothing better than a lick of paint to sort the outside of that building to make it a bit more presentable. Having said that I'm sure you have already considered that option. Probably a silly comment really. Getting back to the cars. That Z4 is a beauty..... I`m in love 😁
07:40 it's true I'm from Turkey the car is called Egea here it's made in Bursa Turkey and we import those cars to you guys that's why it's cheap here so everyone has one but it's mostly used as rentals especially the 1.3 Multijet engine and easy trim is so Popular and with this car we produce the Doblo and The Fiorino/Qubo too all the cheap cars from Fiat is from Turkey
Just catching up on some past videos. If you are the owner of the garage to refer to your employees as ‘colleagues’ is a lovely trait to see and so respectful. Such honesty. When I’m ready to trade up our 70k mileage 07 tidy Yaris I’ll be in touch! Keep up the good work.
Some nice stock there Matt 👍. Always hate the process of car dealing in general as there are so many poor dealers around . Very honest review of what you have. Will keep an eye out on your site when I’m looking to trade. You should do an update every couple of months, great vid
I only stumbled upon your channel like two days ago.. I must admit that I get petrolhead vibes rather than car salesmen vibes from you :D The way you look at cars is similar to a car nerd, so this is super refreshing. That XKR would be on my list as well, and one day I will get one :), it is hard to find a tidy one I have to say.
You're obviously doing something right for the business to do so well. Congratulations. Over here the small one-man band car dealers are becoming a thing of the past. Most second-hand dealers now have huge warehouses with cars of similar size arranged in groups and lots of twenty-year-olds monitoring internet sales. I don't mind looking through the big ones when I'm in Brisbane.
Many moons ago, my cousin was a car salesman. I used to get so envious that he could walk into the forecourt and take whatever he wanted home. You have such a wide range to choose from, you could easily swap cars every day and never be bored
Your candid commentary regarding your inventory speaks of your character and integrity. Love your style, man. Your videos are something I look forward to. Great content!
As someone who has bought and sold cars before, you have way more integrity with what you do than I did when you fix cars up and I made sure to make cars much better than when I got them you go another level and I had it easy in a dry country of Australia(Sydney), the fact you can make a living doing that is inspiring, I'm addicted to watching all your videos since I found them about 5 or so months ago.
That's cool, Matt. Man, it's cool to see someone real, who has problems like everyone else. You show something very rare nowadays, which is transparency. What I see of people in this field, close to me, who eat chicken and belch caviar, you have no idea. Or rather, I think there is... Keep it up, buddy, transparent.
Regarding the E class suspension, might be worth double checking that someone hasn’t fitted “standard” rear springs to a sport, giving the nose down attitude, and excessive rear arch gap. Seen it a few times over the years!! 👍🏻
You are spot on about the Tipo, the ones in Turkey are called Aegea. My first car was a Tipo and the ones we had in Turkey had digital cluster. It’s a shame it’s nothing like those ones the new one.
Would love to see a video on the Peugeot 3008. Be interesting to see more of what it’s like to drive with that high driving position. Sunny weather coming so interior would look good with that glass roof.
I’m from wales so I love a leek but your show room celing mate, u remind me of the Eastern Europeans I work with they come here with the cloths on their backs rent a room work hard and a few months later they have nice cloths a really nice Audi etc etc but are still renting a room, in my mind I’m thinking why didn’t you use that money and put a deposit on a house and rent the rooms to your friends then get the car U got that beautiful blue merc gorgeous white Range Rover but your renting a room in a shared house and that shared house/car lot u have at the minute needs more work than the council house you just bought 😢 great content as always buddy hope you can do the deal with the landlord and make it your own
Exactly my thoughts. Has an air of Arthur Daley motors which explains why your better quality cars are struggling. Just needs the bunting to complete the look. I would have a word with Terry M about that forecourt damage. Lastly looks bad putting an unpreped car on the lot.
Good garage tour..A good mix of stock,my favourite is your silver AMG Mercedes and the blue Land Rover..The inside of the garage is fine and the exterior wouldn’t take much doing to renovate ,could even be capped with UPVc or similar at fairly low cost.
Hi Matt , finally signed for a RR based on your channel, massive step which I’m looking forward to, get it next Thursday, here’s hoping for an enjoyable ownership, apologies I bottled the RR your had , love your channel always
Thank you for the tour of your showroom and the stock of your cars . I must say you have alot of very good cars there is something to suit all car drivers. I must make a trip to see your business and buy one of your cars Thanks Matt and may 2024 be very successful for you Kevin from Radcliffe
Quite surprised @ the amount of auto,s. Is that a trend in UK. Here in Thailand it's very difficult to find a manual. Never miss your videos don't stop.
I have picked up my BMW 320i Msport shadow touring today, partly after watching your review and using the car vertical discount, so thank for that and the brilliant videos
Great video Matt very interesting insight of your stock that bmw z4 2.5 is immaculate I would be interested in that but I live to far away in Cornwall I have a vw Passat cc but now retired I’m only doing short journeys now so a petrol model would make sense keep the great videos coming all the best to you.
Nice video. Interesting stock, I had a Tipo for nearly 4 years and there is nothing wrong with the reliability, probably because the drive train has been around for ever and as you say, there is loads of room I'd like to see a video of the Jogger, simply because there are not many about You're right about the building..... Good video again, Matt
I would second that about the Tipo. Ive had mine for 4 years, 51k, and all its needed apart from servicing was a glow plug. Its kind of a 'white goods' car in my opinion but does me well on my commute into London each day.
I really like the "I'm not a big fan of this car, but if I would ever buy one it would be this specific one so I'm comfortable having it in my stock" attitude. Have to respect it. Keep up the good work!
Bloody hell, lovely to spend time with you. Cheers for your time letting us have a look around your garage.......WHEN I'M FLUSH. Anyhow thanks again and every happiness and success to you.
I really enjoyed this, thank you. It would’ve been nice if you could’ve given us at least a guide price for each vehicle, I’m sure that would’ve helped sales as well. Keep up the good work! Cheers, Peter
Totally love the Defender and the white LR4. My neighbor has a 2021 Defender 110 and he loves it. The gray Z4 with the red interior is really fun. Just saw the VW beetle. Recently I bought a 2018 turbo convertible beetle in same color. Love it. Really fun for spring.
Great video Matt was nice to look round without the 5 hour drive 😅. My wife has a Tipo S-Design in a nice grey, black wheels 1.4 T-Jet. Fantastic car, bigger then any rival and been faultless for 59k miles. Loads of kit, even guided cruise! Very underrated car!
That was such good fun, thank you Matt! My favourite was the XKR convertible - what a car! I'll trade my L322 in against it. Actually, no. You can have my £500 2003 Golf GTi instead 😆
An honest car dealer. There's something you rarely see. If I was back in the UK and looking to buy a car High Peak would be my first port of call. Guaranteed to get something that's been serviced and properly prepped for sale. And if it's a bit shit, Matt'll be honest and tell you!
Thanks Matt. Used to be in the game free years ago as a salesman. Those days when people bought diesels just because. Today, in the London area, you can’t give them away! Love your presentation, integrity and I keep rooting for your continued success. Who knows? Now that the usual suspects ie remarketing sites are only online and to traders, I might direct folk I know up your neck of the woods to your door!
hi matt! this video has really improved my day! haven’t watched it yet, but just seeing the notification as improved my day! my parents audi broke down (the same one i sent you on instagram) after being at the garage yesterday because they changed the oil pressure sensor. today we travelled up to Truro for the day, and it got stuck in limp mode. so we turned it off, and back on again and it was still in limp mode. it got that bad that it broke down at the side of the road outside Truro and we were there for about an hour before the tow truck came to pick up the car, and dropped it off at the garage to get repaired. Had to walk home which took another hour, so i’ve had a manic day, but this video has improved my rubbish day 😂😂
State of the used trade check:- 1) Could it be better for you? 2) Looking ahead, is it likely to get better for you? Two negatives = K.I.S.S. My best wishes to you Matt.
I had to laugh when you brought up the X1 and said someone would buy it just for the badge... Because that's exactly what I did with mine! They are ugly little things. It served it's purpose, but happily upgraded to an XC60 now and not looked back! Did you ever do that X1 video? 🤔
Thanks for the tour of your showroom Matt. You have some really good cars in stock There are quite a few cars I like and would buy from you . Kevin from overcast Radcliffe
You video has brought back some happy memories. I use to own an E reg Citroen BX 1.7D non turbo. It pushed out about 60hp and went really well. It was great on fuel and I ran it on remould tyres. All the best Andy
Love this video 😂 hating on hateful cars, but you know if you buy anything from this man, it’s going to be in really good condition, you actually cannot lose.
Good evening Matt that is quite an unusual car not seen one of those for donkey's years and I'm sure it will sell good luck with a sale cheers Phil from Newark
Hi Matt loved the video about your showroom . I have a Mercedes 350 2011 Cabriolet and the front is lower than the back. The rear tyres are different spec to the front and I’m pretty sure it’s wedge shape effect, which I think gives a unique aerodynamic look. I also enjoyed your videos on the Lexus nx 300h so much so my partner is thinking about this model as her next vehicle
Hi Matt, you have some really nice stock, but yea the showroom does let it down a bit, knowing you from following your channel for as long has I have, you`ll get it sorted though, All the very best, from Nick the Lexus guy in Wolsingham.
Hi Matt , As a fellow trader , love the videos , Keep them going , helps customers re build some lost faith in the motortrade , caused by traders who don't care !!
Another good and honest video Matt. I wouldn't worry about the building too much, as my Gran used to say, " Never judge be looks or a Parson be his books!'
I had a Fiat 500 S exactly like the one you've got there, great little car! Mine was a 15 plate. Just about to take delivery on a new Leon Cupra in desire red now. :)
😊 Looking at cars...should be boring but I just enjoy it. I've got a 4 year old mercedes in mint condition with 22000 on it. Love it otherwise I'd be over to Romiley looking for a part exchange deal. I really enjoy these u tube videos with Matt.
to be honest your lot would look a lot nicer by just removing the chipped out paintwork and re-painting those parts. wouldn't cost a fortune and would perk it up. it's the one thing that REALLY stands out as an eye-sore. at least to my eyes. loved the video and the commentary on cars and the life of a car salesman. I think I am more at ease in buying cars from here on out after seeing your videos and your take on the industry and cars. big up!
You’ve gotta love Matt’s honesty - he’s happy to slag his cars off yet is trying to sell them to his customers. Refreshingly honest rather than the usual car salesman trying to pretend every car is a beauty!
That’s because I’m a petrolhead rather than a salesman 😂
But not cleaned some of em.. 😮.... Its OK Matt we still love ya..
Completely agree! Buying a car from Matt you'll know you're getting an honest deal
@Chris Fellows get something better
@Chris Fellows sounds like you’d be doing a huge downgrade
Become one of my favourite TH-cam channels. Been watching for a few years now. Love the honesty and transparency. Don't change!
I appreciate that!
Hi Matt loved the video of your stock no holds barred not many dealers would do that . Hats off to you honesty personified
Jeremy, you allright?
If everyone was as honest & genuine as Matt, the world would be a better place.

Hello Matt,
I have a Fiat Tipo Lounge, it’s a 5 door Petrol 1.0L supercharger, and I’ve had Honda C-RV, Several Mercs, and I can honestly tell you that, it’s the most reliable, cheap to run and insure car I’ve ever owned.

Yes I’m Turkish, and I can confirm the Fiat Egea is very popular 1.3 Diesel oh and also the Renault Megan Sedan.

You need some throw away paper mats to put in the cars mate after the valet to keep carpets pristine.

Thank you!
Can’t believe your BMW Z4 hasn’t gone it is such a pretty car top up or down, which is rare.
Love these types of videos, should do them a bit more often if you get the chance!
I'll try!

It’s too far gone. It needs levelling and building from scratch
I own a 335D X Drive, a 6 pot 3 litre diesel, probably the same 3 litre Diesel used in that 430D. A powerhouse? Absolutely. Mine pulls like a train.
You missed the one car I was really interested in Matt. The Suzuki right in the centre of the forecourt!

You got plenty of brass Matt - well done 👍👌🚗
Bloody hell, lovely to spend time with you. Cheers for your time letting us have a look around your garage.......WHEN I'M FLUSH. Anyhow thanks again and every happiness and success to you.
Glad you enjoyed it
@@HighPeakAutos Very much so, cheers.
I really enjoyed this, thank you. It would’ve been nice if you could’ve given us at least a guide price for each vehicle, I’m sure that would’ve helped sales as well. Keep up the good work! Cheers, Peter
It says the price on the window for most?
Most is the keyword
Very underrated car!
my favorite video youve done i like seeing your quality used cars at your site matt m8. 😁
Really interesting stock and a couple there that I might be interested in myself. The E89 is of particular interest 👌
As an owner of the same model and year I can highly recommend the E89 23i it's a nearly perfect affordable sports car and possibly a future classic 👍
@@ducatiboy6668 thanks for your knowledge, really appreciate it. Might have to stop thinking and just do it 👍
Thanks Matt. Used to be in the game free years ago as a salesman. Those days when people bought diesels just because. Today, in the London area, you can’t give them away! Love your presentation, integrity and I keep rooting for your continued success. Who knows? Now
that the usual suspects ie remarketing sites are only online and to traders, I might direct folk I know up your neck of the woods to your door!
let’s be honest if your after a motor we all know where to go!
21:24 Just someone having fun, I reckon he knows exactly how a clutch and gearbox work.
Matt love all your content but you are a workaholic 😊 maybe a day off on a bank holiday? Appreciate the tour😊
One day!
That 430D is beautiful💯my brother in law has the Gran Coupe version and I just say I prefer the Gran coupe so much more than the regular 4 series
hi matt! this video has really improved my day! haven’t watched it yet, but just seeing the notification as improved my day! my parents audi broke down (the same one i sent you on instagram) after being at the garage yesterday because they changed the oil pressure sensor. today we travelled up to Truro for the day, and it got stuck in limp mode. so we turned it off, and back on again and it was still in limp mode. it got that bad that it broke down at the side of the road outside Truro and we were there for about an hour before the tow truck came to pick up the car, and dropped it off at the garage to get repaired. Had to walk home which took another hour, so i’ve had a manic day, but this video has improved my rubbish day 😂😂
State of the used trade check:-
1) Could it be better for you?
2) Looking ahead, is it likely to get better for you?
Two negatives = K.I.S.S.
My best wishes to you Matt.
Early birds where you at?

@@acorndogs904 how you know
@@acorndogs904 What age is your Granny? Lol
I had to laugh when you brought up the X1 and said someone would buy it just for the badge... Because that's exactly what I did with mine! They are ugly little things. It served it's purpose, but happily upgraded to an XC60 now and not looked back! Did you ever do that X1 video? 🤔
Well, it's a tad unusual to hear a car dealer slagging half of his stock off,
but if it works, go for it.
I’m honest. I’m not going to sugar coat everything. This isn’t a sales pitch
@@HighPeakAutos Fair enough mate.
That 370 with a wrap to cover up the weird design would be a great buy
How's everyone doing today?
Grape!
Doing good. How about you?
@@wolfgangezeh2221 Good good, I'm alright, just doing some insurance quotes for my car
Thanks for the tour of your showroom Matt.
You have some really good cars in stock
There are quite a few cars I like and would buy from you .
Kevin from overcast Radcliffe
I always think thatnot using your car to keep the millage down is like not shagging your girlfriend and saving her for the next guy
😂what an analogy
😁👍
1st time I’ve watched channel, really honest down to earth, love the Mercedes SL!
Alright guys how’s it goin welcome baaaack, Really like you Matt your a really honest guy
You video has brought back some happy memories.
I use to own an E reg Citroen BX 1.7D non turbo. It pushed out about 60hp and went really well. It was great on fuel and I ran it on remould tyres.
All the best Andy
Love this vid. I live 'down south' but if I was in the market for a used car. High Peak Autos would be my go to
Love this video 😂 hating on hateful cars, but you know if you buy anything from this man, it’s going to be in really good condition, you actually cannot lose.
I detest the process of buying a used car but if I was needing one Id be happy to buy one off him. He seems reasonable to deal with.
Good evening Matt that is quite an unusual car not seen one of those for donkey's years and I'm sure it will sell good luck with a sale cheers Phil from Newark
I got the old tour in my recommended and was wondering what it would look like updated! What a bloody coincidence
Thoroughly enjoyable video. Very therapeutic.
You're such a well spoken, professional & informative guy. I love your channel :)
Thanks, will do!
Another good and honest video Matt. I wouldn't worry about the building too much, as my Gran used to say,
" Never judge be looks or a Parson be his books!'
I think the other side to the argument is if it looks too fancy, people will think my cars are overpriced
@@HighPeakAutosyou’re right. There’s a balance
Love the fact your recycling the xmas tree and keeping tucked away safely ready for this year 🎄🎄
I think that’s such a good idea going around the other garages
I had a Fiat 500 S exactly like the one you've got there, great little car! Mine was a 15 plate. Just about to take delivery on a new Leon Cupra in desire red now. :)
hi matt can you do another one of these tours if you get time there a real great watch .
Love that Jag convertible.
A great walk around of your garage - knowing how super fussy you are about the cars, they'll all be well worth the money. Great video 👋
😊 Looking at cars...should be boring but I just enjoy it. I've got a 4 year old mercedes in mint condition with 22000 on it. Love it otherwise I'd be over to Romiley looking for a part exchange deal. I really enjoy these u tube videos with Matt.
PMSL at Audi A3 description, so funny because true.
to be honest your lot would look a lot nicer by just removing the chipped out paintwork and re-painting those parts. wouldn't cost a fortune and would perk it up. it's the one thing that REALLY stands out as an eye-sore. at least to my eyes. loved the video and the commentary on cars and the life of a car salesman. I think I am more at ease in buying cars from here on out after seeing your videos and your take on the industry and cars. big up!
