Your Ford truck from the camera looks in a great clean condition, and the color looks very attractive , my advise is to keep it at your backyard and gradually (preferably at summer) when you have time is to dismantle the engine and rebuild it cheeply and reliably. Also with your vast expertise you may be able to change the multi plate clutches of the tranny. It is my opinion because these older models are (in my opinion) way better than newer trucks. It just looks way civilized and gorgeous Loool than your newly bought van that looks as if it was used (God Forbid) as a jail to move convicts. Take Care and enjoy your time.
Congrats on a newer work vehicle, but keep in mind that your SUV flew under the radar, but now it's obvious to everyone that you're driving a utility work truck with expensive tools and equipment inside. I'd invest in a good alarm system, fuel pump disable switch, dual channel dash cam and near armoured car level locks all around. More money I know, but just one incident can severely impact your mobile business.
Oh you beat me to it man I learned that lesson back in the 90s when I went from a pickup truck with toolboxes to a big van,, how many times did that thing get broken into I can't even tell you,,, 20 ??? Lol..
@@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO If I would have had todays tech in the 90's it would have saved me THOUSANDS.. So you don't do local Houston mobile calls for individuals anymore? I have a neighbor that needs you or a recommendation. It's a very nice one owner 05' (I Think) Infiniti G35 in 77096..
Cool beans! Now we get to see diagnostic videos on the Ford Transit. I will be looking forward to those and all of your other diagnostic videos. Keep up the great work.
Wow! RIP Explorer. That van looks like a beater work truck for all the jobs you do brother. Best of luck with it and waiting to see how you put it together.🙏😎👍
My car also died en route to a customer after purchasing some parts. I walked the rest of the way, lugging around 50 lbs and completed the job. I thought it was my timing belt since I had no RPM movement but luckily it was just the igniter. Would love to see the build Eric. Good luck!
So Eric, I pretty much consider you a "talker" which means you have the gift to gab. So as I watched this video I was thinking you were trying to convince yourself, your Wife, and ME that you needed a new truck. Thanks for the diagnosis because you've convinced all of us you did need that next truck. The problem with Ford's is that they are so darn comfortable it's hard to give them up when the mechanics go South. So clearly it's time to move on. We look forward to what you do with your van a want to see how it can grow your business. Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂
Stinks that your Explorer had a catastrophic failure. It's hard to ever be ready for such a thing, even when the vehicle starts showing signs of failure like yours did. Glad you were able to squeeze out as much time as you did, though. I'm excited that you were able to get into a work van. I hope the new van treats you well, would be cool to get periodic updates on how the van does. I'm looking at upgrading to a work van of some sort (as I seem to be doing more mobile call outs), but currently unsure as to which one I'll go for. Wish I could get into an older E-series or GM fullsize van, but those have all pretty much rotted away up here in Alaska. Thanks for the bonus footage featuring the borescope camera! Good luck with your future endeavors and looking forward to seeing your future videos!
Congratulations on your new work van. It is going to make things easier and more efficient for your business. Maybe we can even get more videos from you! Best wishes and good luck.
Hi on your new van make sure you check coolant lines from radiator overflow bottle to the top of radiator is the most common leak and the lower radiator common leak and I work for ford dealer
The van will make it much easier to get jobs done easier. I would install a battery bank and inverter to run equipment and to supply power to vehicles being worked on instead of using a jump box.
Im looking at buying ta transit 250 LWB myself so I will be following closely. If you have the 3.7 Im seeing them all the way up to 450k and still kicking.
Make sure that if the engine has a wet belt that you get a changed as soon as possible it's around that mileage they can give trouble and make sure to change the oil on time and check it every week and use the correct recommended oil It should hold up then
A better vehicle for you will add value to your business, cause you have so much more you can now do with that van. Good luck with the van, hope you get many years and miles from it.
I would be curious as to what exactly failed timing wise. The only newly available chains and sprockets for these engines no matter what brand, seem to fail rather catastrophically without much warning.
Man that really sucks having your work truck die on the way to a job. But a van is ideal for what you do. I look forward to seeing you set it up. I’m a mobile tech too and always wanted a van, but ended up with a huge auction disaster 2004 E-250 5 years ago that I lost all my money on. Couldn’t physically inspect it due to Covid restrictions, and it arrived trashed (literally) with a locked up engine. I finally ended up with a ‘96 F-250 with the bulletproof 7.3/ZF5 drive train. Not as ideal as a van, but once I get a service body on it, it’ll be close. I’m fanatical about preventative maintenance and so far, I’ve never had any significant failure on the road. I believe you have to do your best to try to prevent a breakdown of work vehicles like these.
You've got a good enough following, clientele you need to barter the work for the truck..... Find a tow lot, offer keys for a engine you can compression test, etc. I got my 2006 Honda Odyssey van I'm locksmithing & diagnosing out of by making 7 keys with a tow lot. The next day my contact at the total call me and had one that is one year older with a crappy interior but it had 75,000 less miles on it, $175 km miles and I will get that engine and transmission and the whole vehicle for $1,000 when I do need it as my current van has 243,000 Mi on it. To put it in perspective the 2006 Honda Odyssey I made 7 keys for the van and they gave me the title...
Houston is among the worst city's for van break-ins. The factory Transit door locks are about useless. I have had several contractor van break-ins during a simple lunch break at Salt Grass Steak House on I-45 North. The gangs that do this (4 or 5 members) use battery cutoff tools etc. to cut battery cables and cut AROUND the door locks. They can clean out a van in under 5 minutes. ALWAYS keep the van in sight. Try to get a camera system that will send a message direct to your phone. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news ...
For sure you will want to construct a nice "workstation" desk and chair for those jobs that require a bunch of research or when doing key duplicates etc. Plus, a location for all of your tech resources and power ports etc.
I told you 2 years ago that repairing that engine was not advisable. Just you can fix something doesn't mean you should. The laws of probability were against you on that Exploder. I wish you the best of luck with your replacement vehicle.
Congratulations! I just bought a 2018 low roof van for my auto locksmith business. It's an excellent vehicle, but it doesn't have the best gas mileage.
Eric!…. with prices of vehicles being sky high i feel like it’s a no brainer to take it to Thunderbolt and let them rebuild both the engine and the transmission. Or if you feel comfortable buying a reman from ford and putting it in and even if you decide to sell it you’ll get way more with a good powertrain.
Sad to see the Explorer go to a bone yard. Maybe some local DIYer is looking for a project and give you more than 400. Wonder how many miles it went on those last timing chains?
❤Hello dear, I am in the Middle East, and I own a 2010 Ford Explorer with a 4.0-liter V6 engine. My question is: does the rear heater core have a valve? I noticed there is a valve on the front heater hose, but for the rear heater, does the hot water flow automatically to the heater core, or is there a valve for it? I would appreciate your guidance. Thank you! ❤
How many miles are on the Explorer? If I remember correctly you bought the current engine for $600 or so. And if I remember correctly you decided not to replace the rear timing chain before installing it? Yeah, it's time to let it go.
Oh shit bro I got that same camera and I’ll tell you what I’ve used that thing for so much more stuff then I can my old one the articulating head is so useful comparably speaking
I have a 2008 Ford Explorer. Sports track with a 4 leader. Yes, your time of changing has to be replaced every 100000 to a 150000 miles. And if you don't do so, you'll bend every valve in your head, and now your heads are no good. Just tell you from those Ford guys, and yes, transmissions are another issue, too.
The bad thing about that engine is one of the timing chains is on the rear of the engine and you have to pull the engine to replace the rear timing chain. Not many will do that.
The word is that the talks are being built. I will try to restore what I can. But maybe if it's possible, put a 5 l with the transmission that goes with it and a computer or APC. The work withbut you're never built. A seller carcass with democrats controls things in the clunker law. You won't be able to sell your car again. Yes, the time machine has to be changed every 100000 and 150000 miles. Or you'll bend the Bells. That's what I'm trying to say. It's a good truck, it's like a raptor it's got a solid frame.
Eric, does your insurance carrier consider the new van a commercial vehicle? They typically hammer hard on the rates for commercial vehicles. When I bought my Ford Transit Connect I had to prove to them (via pictures) that mine isn’t a commercial vehicle.
I hope the transit you bought isn't a eco blue as they're very bad because they have wet belt and AdBlue systems which aren't the most reliable from what I've heard.
Before scrapping it -if u decided so -, I think making a video chasing what went wrong with the engine and perhaps the transmission will be worthwhile....If u have the time offcourse
actually that transit van's diesel motor is also pretty much untrustble because of timing belt works in oil and need to be replaced in 80k miles of course my expiriance for european version
you'll be fine w van...just leave it blank no decals advertising...thats what calls ppl over to break in. BTW I have a tall promaster with low miles I'm selling. Has a 72 inch box inside, 10k inverter and 30 gall compressor. Im in Texas
Looks like they were hauling something heavy and didn't have it secured well enough and had to hit the brakes hard causing it to fly forward smashing that barrier wall.
Oooooo no dude huge mistake those wet timing belts on those vans are fffing terrible might as well toe it to a junk yard now major downgrade I’d fix what u have or get anything else except a dodge they are just as bad
Your weak Ford transmission took out your engine through the "fluid coupling" torque converter? Never seen that before and I wonder if it is true. Torque converters don't go into lock-up decelerating on an off ramp either. Only a Ford drivetrain and one of the worst engines ever designed and built I guess....
Eh Brah easy fix, "just go Auto Zone, O'Reilly and they diag in 5 min, throw the part and you fixed...." (sarcasm)... We do same sh*t you do and listen to the ppl that know more than us....

And I just commented "Fords never say die"😂. Sorry your trans gave out. I'm sure you got your use out of the truck👍

The 5R55S never needed an excuse to screw up. You sound like you had a classics slide-bump shift caused by a couple of worn servo pin bores.
What engine does the van have?
I remember a video about a orange tools truck with everything. Where is this truck ?

You could have sold pieces of it to your subscribers, so that we always have a piece of you with us
Take better care of this one.
Ford Exploder!!!
This is where transmission maintenance. Fluid change every 30,000 miles would’ve helped you. Change the transmission fluid on the new van immediately.
Looks like they were hauling something heavy and didn't have it secured well enough and had to hit the brakes hard causing it to fly forward smashing that barrier wall.
You're probably right
I think something slid forward and did the damage.
That actually makes a lot of sense! The dealership had 3 vans from the same company and they all had the same damage to the wall. Thanks for watching!
This is a more appropiate Vehicle for a mobile shop. Cargo part is already divided which is safe in case you brake hard and something decides to fly.
successfully👍
Gracias y mucha suete con la nueva van ,se ve como nueva en el extterior.
Part it out or make a youtube repair series on it.
Get toyota tundra i am my 4 th toyota truck, no problems with engines just minor little things very happy with toyotas
Out with the old in with the new. Try not to block the sidewalks with the van.

Worse news. You purchased another one.
Another ford. You just don’t learn do you

Hey. I’m sorry your truck died , take the. Catalytic converters off and sell them separately to a scrap metal place.
