Making a Human-Following Robot!

- This is another application we can combine AI object detection and Ardupilot to do some interesting feature. I am using SSD-mobilenet-v2 detector from github.com/dusty-nv/jetson-in... , which is a super fast object detector which implemented TensorRT from NVIDIA. We can control the cart by using DroneKit python module for Ardupilot.

They have golf bags that do this but use a transponder or GPS, not sure.
Some drones will keep you in the camera view automatically.
I had a idea of such a robot but with camera's and possibly a drone for vlogging and TH-cam videos.
It's a very attractive project.

Did you tested the obstacle avoidance capabilities?
It just stops if there is something in range of 1m, but not any avoidance trajectory.
Humans have a tendency of walking in groups...pack animals...tribes.... how do you compensate for multiples of them? Curiosity has gotten the best of me and ask what actions would come from a situation where multiple humans are walking in a line- where it may only appear as 1 from current perspective- now what would happen if 1 of the humans stepped to the side... where both humans are now visible.... what if they continued in separate directions?

So this wouldn't work if there were more than one person in the fov correct? I am trying to do something similar and trying to figure out if I should use computer vision or BLE triangulation with a smartphone, or a combination of the two.

It is an Intel Realsense D435
how do you make sure it doesn't follow someone else in crowded spaces
Yep, that’s a limitation of this bot now, we assume there is not many people in front of it. Basically, now it considers the closest human.
