Daily reminder that the Flyers snapped the Sabres massive losing streak last season on national tv by getting blown out 6-1,thus officially ending any chances at the playoffs.
I don’t want playoffs , I want a cup , u kinda need a number 1 defenseman with elite offense to win one, we haven’t had one since mark Howe , yet the masses show up like playoffs is good enough ,,,,they haven’t made a REAL effort since the last brick was installed on Wells Fargo center , then lindros was kicked to curb and there is NO EFFORT for a cup since 1986,,,,not with my money ,,,your money
It's been a complete shitshow. Management has to come to terms with the fact that we're probably going to have to rebuild properly as we're just not going to anything right by being the hockey equivalent of the hokey-pokey (in-out-in-out shake it all about). If Giroux leaves, I wish him all the best - a fantastic servant to the club let down by team mismanagement.
I don't believe that either the organization or the fans have the patience for a proper rebuild. If the team isn't winning "right now", the fans start looking for someone to blame, usually the goalie (how long before everyone gives-up on Hart?), and management starts making excuses for the current failures.
@@THE_bchat Oh I've seen the "Hart's a bust" talk already....I was speaking from an idealist perspective, I know it's something we'll never own up to that a rebuild may be necessary. "An aggressive retool" is just trying to steer away from the dreaded word "rebuild" because it still implies "Y'know with the right pieces we can still get back next season."
It’s horribly ironic that Martin Jones is their backup, because he was arguably hung out more to dry in San Jose, although he’s certainly not blameless
@@UrinatingTree Phillies really deserve a video too at some point too imo, they’ve been just totally directionless for about 3 years after just 5 years of awful.
@@anonymousanonymity2815 The Phillies are pretty simple, their drafting and player development have been atrocious for almost 20 years now. Outside of Hamels and Nola they haven't developed an All Star level talent since the early 2000's and have a giant list of busts and disappointments.
@@hiflyer000 I’d argue Rhys was a really good find but yeah. The thing is sooooo many of their draft decisions aren’t just like meh didn’t work out in the majors, they were, holy shit this guy never made it past A ball. And it was consistent. And they continue under this false belief that somehow the current core will ever sneak into the playoffs, they won’t. The angels have the same set of problems and they got a video.
A group I'm in has our own running meme/category of "In today's hilarious Flyers news", which is only made possible by the fact that they never stop being a never-ending source of hilarity
It’s weird how on paper the Flyers should be a solid playoff team, but this season alone they have had 2 separate 10 game losing streaks. Unbelievable you one bridge having city.
Don’t worry. The Pens will always make the playoffs because their devil magic. Even though they should have fallen off about 3 years ago like the Hawks and Kings did. What they’ll do in the playoffs is anyone’s guess though. Hopefully Jarry returns to meme playoff form.
As a Flyers fan all I have to say is: Took you long enough! I agree with everything said here. This team looks like they're lost at sea with the moves they've made and lifeless on the ice. Here's hoping the current losing streak can net us the top pick this year (and that we don't fuck it up somehow)
They've attempted 3 retools this decade: 1. Post 2010 when Carter, Richards, and several others were shipped out 2. Mid 2010's where Hartnell, Coburn, and Schenn were the key pieces were moved out 3. The Chuck Fletcher retool I'd hate for them to attempt a fourth
I get that the Flyers have had some injuries over the season, but even then they should've still been good. They went from, "Fighting for the Stanley Cup" in the offseason to "fighting for the #1 overall pick" 1 month into the season 🤦 If they don't get a Top 3 pick after losing 10 straight 3 times, Philadelphia finna be sick 🤣
@Alex Wickert i remember when nathan gerbe was one of our better players due to injuries in the rest of the lineup... jackets still made the playoffs that year
I don't know why but the funniest part of the video is how well you replicated the Flyers jersey font with your text in the editing. Way funnier than it should be.
I remember watching the '97 series as a kid against the Red Wings and watching them get obliterated 0-4. That was honestly the last time I had optimism for my hockey team. I didn't watch the 2010 series due to personal reasons, but at least they fared better during that series. Still, Pain™
I was born in 98 so I wouldn’t really know, but was that series loss really that heartbreaking? Detroit without a doubt had the better roster and that was proven when they became a dynasty. All we seemed to have was the LOD, Desjardins, Brind’Amour, old Paul Coffey, and a bunch of meh.
The Flyers we the heavy favorites that year, after the Wings were swept in the '95 finals from the Devils, then a bone crushing loss to the Aves in the 96' Conference finals, people all thought they were flashy, but didn't have the Grit to finish the finals. Plus the Flyers had the LOD that dominated other teams in the playoffs as well as the regular season. But the Wings were only trailing in the 97' Finals for a length of 2 minutes. Imagine out of 240 minutes of hockey, you are ahead for 2 minutes. Remember it like it was yesterday, good times!
@@philly_sports1558 The Flyers were the sexy pick by all the "experts" because they were big and ... they were big. And they had Lindros. Anyway, everything that went right for the Flyers in the first three rounds went all wrong in the Finals: Hextall and Snow gave up bad goals in every game - The Yzerman goal in Game 1 - The Maltby goal in Game 2 - Shanahan and Lapointe's second goal in Game 3 - The Lidstrom goal in Game 4 A lot of key players were injured or playing hurt The Wings were too fast, and the Flyers couldn't hit what they couldn't catch The Wings practically out-hit the Flyers in every game (see the Konstantinov hit on Hawerchuk) Only three Flyers combined to score all six of their teams' goals - Lindros (1), Brind'Amore (3), and Leclair (2). Everyone thought that Finals was going to be Lindros' ascension into greatness and the Wings beat them in every aspect of the game. The Wings literally did exactly to the Flyers in '97 what the Devils did to the Wings in '95.
As a Flyers fan, all I have to say is this, When Ed Snider owned the team, they were his baby. He would do everything he could to be put a good product on the ice every year, and they were always a competitive team, even if they haven’t been able to get it done since 75. Now, it doesn’t seem like anyone actually cares about the team anymore, and that mindset is spreading through the organization from players to fans to front office members. Nobody cares about the Flyers anymore, and it’s sad because there is talent on this team and a passionate fanbase at its best.
From what I remember the guy telling that story was a bit off and the scouts were actually pushing for Heiskanen. Which obviously is still better than how things worked out for Patrick (unfortunate for him), but I don't think Makar was going to be the pick no matter who was making the choice there. Just that the Flyers exec was pissed at Hextall and wanted to blame him for everything currently wrong with the franchise and figured the scouts must have wanted Makar since....Makar is obviously the best player out of that draft.
The Patrick pick was bad luck, he was the consensus #1 until a severe injury in his draft year, Patrick has yet to play a full season in the NHL. It's bad luck for a guy who had a legitimate upside. But Makar has turned into the Erik Karlsson of the 2020s so in hindsight he was the first pick
As a Sabres fan, whenever I want to cry, I remember that the Flyers allowed us to avoid what would've been the longest losing streak in NHL history. And then I cry because we're probably not even gonna crack 20 wins this year. Or the next. Or in 2024-25. Or...
Man, it has been a tough go for Buffalo. However, if will allow an outside perspective, I think for the first time I see a glimmer of light at the end of your team's tunnel of pain. To be fair, the McEichel draft f#$ked your franchise up. There is an artform to tanking and unfortunately management at the time screwed it up. You cannot burn the franchise to the ground in order to get one player, and we all know it wasn't Eichel they wanted. You have to have at least something in place for the player so they have time to develop. The Sabres got rid of everything to get McDavid and then lost the lottery. This time, it seems like they MAY be doing the rebuild properly. That being said, it seems the Pegulas have a knack for screwing up the Sabres.
@@brianeleighton The thing is that Kim keeps fucking things up. Terry, for the most part, knows he doesn't know shit and takes a hands off approach to his ownership. Kim has near-dictatorial control of the Sabres and has gutted our scouting to the degree that we don't have anyone watching the Canadian or European leagues. So she's put us in a position where we can't develop, search for or generate talent. I want us to succeed, but it's not with her.
@@smilingearth5181 You're not wrong, but what's impressive is that Granato seems to be finding a way to develop these guys in spite of Kim's interference, and Tuch has pretty much transformed the locker room. For once I agree that we may finally be on the way out of this hell, but after all these recent seasons that opened with hugely deceiving early success, I'm not gonna get ahead of myself just yet.
I haven't even watched the flyers at all this year, but every time i see a final score i got the wonderful pleasure of saying "oh hey they lost again, where's my whiskey"
As a sad flyers fan, thank you for making my night with this video. A shame that I don’t have a hockey team that does that for me anymore 😞 Thank God for the Sixers (plz don’t choke)
I've never been more disappointed, embarrassed to be a Flyers fan. These past 2 years have been completely pathetic. Absolute travesty how they've wasted Giroux's career.
"they've wasted Giroux's career." Giroux did that all on his own. He isn't a winner, he folds like a cheap suit. Forced us to trade him for shit, got swept by the 2 time champs in round 2, and we barely heard his name.
I remember my first playoff game at a Flyers game. 2016 first round game 3 against the Capitals I was with my dad, at the time I was just 12. It was the most excited in the pregame I had felt in awhile since it was my first playoff game. I will never forget the shit show that ensued the bracelets thrown on the ice and it’s one of the few times where my dad left the game with lots of time remaining. I still remember when the bracelets started raining down it was utter chaos nothing but loud boos that night. My dad and I were both embarrassed with what happened that night and we were one of the few who didn’t throw bracelet on the ice due to how much dad raised me as someone who doesn’t do any of the stupid shit multiple Philly fans do.
Man, I actually had hoped at preseason, Fletcher did everything he had to shake down the roster to give the best chance. And here were are, they shit the bed and injuries have played a major factor but damn it’s straight depressing being a Flyers fan. Also to be fair about the Ellis move He has one less point then Patrick and 2 more pts then Myers. I really hope the hire rick tocchet as head coach
Ellis getting hurt was really a sign that this season was going to suck. I still have no clue why a 1 year player in Matt Niskanen was so vital and important to the team. He must have been the greatest teammate of all time and the locker room collapsed without him.
@@philly_sports1558 I think that truly was the case. My dad and I literally went to a game in Philly and saw him take a puck to the face and went to the locker room and came back like 2 minutes later with his nose stuffed with gawls, the man was a trooper
As a Wild fan, I tried to warn you guys about Fletcher. Yes he did draft Kaprizov, but that is being over looked considering the Parise and Sueter contracts and trading a mid round pick that turned into Brayden Point.
Ellis is getting paid more than Patrick and Myers combined. Heck, throw in Cody Glass, acquired by Nashville for Patrick, and Ellis is still making more. Philly knew about Ellis being good to miss a few games every year since he signed his current deal, which was why Nashville entertained the idea of trading him at the deadline last year.
Ellis had missed tons of games before becoming a Flyer. One look at his Games Played tells you he's been prone to injury. Chuck Fletcher is looking to be just one more disaster of a GM.
And now they’ve resign Risto for five more years. If you listen closely you’ll hear Washington, Pittsburgh, New York, and Buffalo fans in the distance cheering at this announcement.
It's coming soon ... the 50th anniversary of the last time the Flyers won the Stanley Cup. Feels like their futility streak will eventually catch the Cubs' longtime streak, which ended not too long ago.
Toronto fans have 13 Stanley Cup championship throughout their storied franchise while the Flyers only have two measly ones so Toronto is not that all tortured despite millions of Toronto fans crying about not winning one since ‘67!
I really appreciate the hockey content on this channel! Love to see my favourite sport get some love and recognition. Especially after all the negativity surrounding the sport as of late
So basically, the Flyers are like the episode of Its Always Sunny when Mac gets an opportunity to shoot a puck from center circle to an open net, but falls on his face entering the ice.
I've never seen anything like the self destruction this team has had. 2 years ago they were fun, exciting, clutch & were winning. Since G7 vs NYI it's been a complete 180. Truly sad to watch
As a Nashville fan, I was happy the Flyers took on Ellis' contract. He's good, but will miss a few games to injury and was made better by being paired with Josi. Plus, if Nashville ponies up the money to keep Forsberg after the season, I'll point to this as a reason.
I always enjoy your hockey videos. Being in the state of Louisiana has not helped me in my quest to become fully invested in the sport, so I always turn to you. Since you have more knowledge of the ins and outs of hockey than most of the people in my entire state. And I thank you for that.
As a flyers fan to. I don't feel sorry for this team. I just wish that Comcast could just sale this team to someone who cares but that will never happen. I guess have to wait just a few more years and the legacy of failure.
I enjoyed the Rangers shutting them out in their own building with more Rangers fans than flyer fans.. ! Pay back for the 70' is sure sweet.. L.G.R.!!!!!
@@frankt285 Whoa, whoa, whoa!! Are you sure there were more Rangers fans? Cause every Flyer fan I know tells me how great and supportive they are and even during bad times they sell the place out. Are you insinuating Flyers fans are bandwagoners?
I attended the Kraken-Bruins game at Climate Pledge Arena. It’s the greatest barn in hockey, and I used SeatGeek to buy my tickets. I tell you, I don’t think I’m ever gonna have a better fan experience than watching that game. Classy fans, classy staff, and the most technologically savvy arena I’ve ever seen.
@@joeroganreal Yeah, he’s sucked the last couple years while also being made of glass. And this is the guy people say should be captain instead of Giroux? Gimme a break…..
If the Flyers retool, it would be their 4th retool since the 2010 Finals Run. That kind of volatility and lack of a vision for the team. Now we're here, I think either you bolster or you burn it down. We'll see what they do but I'm of the opinion that a rebuild is necessary to repair the franchise (especially with two Generational Talents in the 2023 draft making it an ideal year to tank)
I have never had lower expectations or hopes in this team as a fan. They have been completely lifeless for 2 years & the management is in denial. Just sad to watch what was a proud franchise fall off since Snider' passing.
I like how Tree is one of few people that can go in on a team, a city, or the franchise as a whole and even the fans will go, "Yeah, we definitely deserve this."
I have been a Flyers Fan all of my life. They have become unwatchable lately. I may watch a game to listen to Jim Jackson talk bad about the organization. I don't want to lose Giroux but I would gladly watch him make a cup run with a team that would actually back him up. The same goes for Hart. He could win a Vezina if we decided to develop our defense but no.... Rasmus...
I could not understand why Fletcher traded for a guy who was not a team player. He wanted out of Buffalo because they were bad, so I'm wondering if he's asking for a trade out of Philly now.
The problem with the Flyers is that they're owned by a corporate boardroom. That's who the GM answers to. When Snyder owned them they were always good, maybe not champions, but they were usually contenders. Now the interests of the team are the interests of the stockholders of Comcast/Universal.
With the "grit" references, I was a little disappointed this video didn't feature Gritty, the Flyers mascot. Right now, the Gritster may be the most entertaining aspect of this franchise...or did the front office show him the door, too? Nothing is sacred these days. :D
As a Wings fan living in Philly, I remember being super excited about the Flyers right before Covid shut down the season. God, it's been bleak since. I can't believe they traded picks along with Ghost just to get him out of here. Horrendous shit. It would take a miracle to rebuild this team any sooner than 2030. They had better get started sooner rather than later....
Brayden Schenn for Jori Lehtera, the picks for Joel Farabee, Morgan Frost, and a Cam and Strick podcast interview where Bobby Clarke throws Hextall under a U-Haul. Good times.
He deserves better. There’s no reason why he should still be forced to be the best player on the team this deep into his career. But he is and no one is even close. Believe it or not, there’s idiots in this city who put all the blame on him for the Flyers not winning a Cup. They’re probably causal fans at best.
To be fair, he did have two bad postseasons in 2018 and 2020. In 2020, you could argue he deserved most of the blame for that hot Flyers team not going further. However, I’ll agree that his defense and goaltending outside of a few years were dogshit.
I live about 20 minutes out of Downtown Nashville, and going to a Preds game is mental. The atmosphere in there is *always* electric. I haven't been in a few years, but I wanna go back. It's truly incredible. If you've never been to a Preds game, and you're able to go, *DO IT!*
@@joetriolo9161 I hate the Rangers but I do think they have a solid team y’all did well in the rebuild. Something the Flyers lack. Us fans get too impatient with the team and once we start losing we want changes. I feel awful for Giroux that man deserves a Stanley cup but wasted his prime of this joke of an organization. I love the Flyers but they won’t be winning anytime soon. Once they actually start a rebuild.
@@kyleschwartz2501 Yeah I live "down the shore" now so I'm deep in Flyers' country, but still proudly wearing the blue. Right now, after Giroux and Couturier not much to cheer about for you guys but the rivalry is still strong and I'm sure things will get better, but it will be a tough go in the loaded Metro. Hey at least we both hate the Pens and the Isles and Devils, so we have that in common.
The flyers remind me of teams like the Canadiens, the Predators or the blue jackets. The types of teams that are never good enough to be a perennial cup contenders, but never bad enough for a few years to build into a serious contender. It's always one step forward, one step back. And the way they build their teams reflects this. Trades and free agents signings, but very little in terms of prospects.
Here..here…Everything you stated was spot on. The Flyers have been living in the past for 45 years….remember that last Cup. I’m 54 and barely remember it. Greatest job in the world? Anyone in the Flyers front office because failure equals promotion! Topper is the ownership doesn’t care because they’re selling plenty of Gritty merch. The Flyers are the Detroit Lions of the NHL and I apologize to the Lions for making them seem worse than they are.
As a flyers fan, thank you for making this video. You kind of dwelled on the wrong things, but your point is made nonetheless. Biggest problem with the flyers is ownership, hextall missing on most of his picks and now Fletcher having no clear direction. Flyers over valued so many picks and players over the years and now they’re paying for it.
Hextall drafted Sanheim, Lindblom, Provorov, Konecny, Hart, Frost, Ratcliffe and Farabee, and that's just the players still with the team. So, I don't see how you can say he "missed" on most of his picks when he did about as well as every other GM in the league when it comes to drafting.
Any team that was capable of proper player development could've turned most of them into stars but the Flyers have grinder dip****s like Chris Stewart and Nick Shultz there to coach all the skill out of them. And then when they inevitably get injured they get handed over to Jim "Mengele" McCrossin.
@@amorgus I think you've made some good points that really get overlooked The player development of this franchise has been really lacking. Most of the Flyers draft picks just haven't played up to expectations and poor development could very well be the reason. As for McCrossin you're probably right there too. I've never seen a team with so many injuries over the years like the Flyers have had, going back to the Lindros days.
Yeah I'm a lifelong Sabres fan and I don't think I'll ever forget the day that I saw the report on Risto's trade. I dunno if this rebuild will be the one that finally allows this team to have some dignity, but regardless of what happens, I'll always be able to smile at the Flyers getting absolutely bilked in that trade. Hagg was exactly the kind of reliable stay at home presence that the Sabres needed to for their defense, but what blows my mind is the haul of draft picks that we got for him. I never expected that much, and it eases the sting from the underwhelming return we got for a vastly superior player in Sam Reinhart.
Been watching the Flyers since I was a kid. One of the biggest issues and what I've always said was that this team lacks any form of identity or chemistry. Once Simmonds left and Hartnell was no longer on the team, everything sorta unravelled.
If Simmonds and Hartnell were the best you've seen of this team then that's a shame. When we had LeClair or Primeau or Recchi or any of a number of great Flyers in the 90s and early 2000s this team was exciting every single year. The 2010 team got father then they should of and then they traded Richards and Carter almost immediately after signing them to 10.year contracts. And we've stunk ever since.
I’m gonna do it with no remorse: the 2020 Flyers are in the same boat as the 1994 Expos. If the ‘vid never became exposed worldwide or was well contained once it left China, who knows what the Flyers could’ve done. We just had 2 previous cup champs at that time end legacies of failure, Philly could’ve been next to end their misery.
I'm not sure about that, but I think they could've gone on a deep run regardless of COVID or not. I think the team that really got screwed was St. Louis. They were a team possessed before the stoppage.
I was wondering when this was coming. This season has been such a disaster I've been actually really getting into football which I've been just kinda into since 2016 (go niners). Hextall killed us just absolutely murdered us, Let's go fLyers!!
It just goes to show that the filters are just ... different. I mean if every NHL franchise was represented as kids in a classroom right now, either philly or buffalo are represented as the special kid.
As a Bluejackets fan I am very familiar with the Flyers as they have been their primary trade partner. Whether it's a change of scenery trade (Vorachek/Atkinson or Umberger/Hartnell) or an indirect goalie trade (Mason and Bobrovsky), or even a complete meltdown (Carter/ Vorachek, Courtier). Best success would be to acquire the ex Jackets in free agency like Florida.
When the Flyers hired AV, I knew it would be a short window to make some real noise. He was very good for a while on Broadway and the fire sale obviously wasn't his call but when it goes bad it goes quick. Another problem is this is a bear of a division and climbing out of the cellar is a big ask right now.
If I was the Flyer’s GM I would do as their basketball team did and blow it up to “Trust the Process”. This would generate around 4 years of sucking, but you actually have a chance to make a cup run in 6 years, unlike their current projectory.
Tree’s Flyers attitude from 2016/2017 to now went from “ahahahahahah!!!!” to just “I’m done with you scrubs, keep sucking but you guys don’t merit any of my time anymore.” Ah, the ways of maturing as a sports fan.
At what point is Chuck Fletcher going to be on the hot seat? He has not been able to replace the loss of Niskanen for two seasons now and I believe that is the biggest reason the Flyers have not improved. Another reason is the lack of scoring and his drafting and trades have not improved that either.
Guys in all honesty, please just remember this. Carter Hart is getting screwed by the Flyers’ defense every game he plays. None of this failure is his fault
As a flyers fan (god that hurts to say) this season and team have gone to shit. From looking like a cup/playoff contender in the preseason, to being the bums of the league, in person or not they’re not fun to watch. Fletcher needs to go. His philosophy and work ethic is terrible, and yeo needs to go with him. Idk who would take the GM spot, but with how lazy this team looks, torts should come in and fix it. And we just need to accept this season is a bum and trade all of our big names. Send Giroux to the Avs so they can give him the Ray Bourque treatment, trade Risto for a pick (your not getting much more then a 2 or 3), move brassard, move Atkinson for a first and a prospect, move Couturier and get picks because he doesn’t need to be tortured like giroux has, retain some of Hayes contract and send him home to Boston, and for god sake just give up on TK and move him. He’s not the player we expected him to turn out to be. And next season just accept the rebuild and play a ton of your rookie guys. It’s gonna take 4-5 years to get out of this hole, so Philly needs to stop denying it and just get it over with already. Also move braun, Jones, and Ellis too because they haven’t done much to help either.
This is what happens when you go from Paul Holmgren, to Hextall, to Holmgren 2.0. Hextall was the closest thing we had to a functional person in management in decades. I find it incredible how much you talked about him, when hes literally your gm now. Also, convenient way to mention all these losses yall gave us in the playoffs but not mention that one year.......you know the year.
Hextall had a good strategy with holding draft picks and prospects, but said draft picks and prospects have failed to pan out. It also doesn’t help that he held on to Dave Hakstol for too long and upper management decided that Hextall’s “rebuild” was over after the bubble playoffs when we were still a year or two away from the “rebuild” being over.
@@carmencaputo7229 Im probably wrong here but.........I dont remember it being up to Hextall with the Hakstol situation. I also remember that they were tired of his patient approach......... Anddddd I also remembered that the guy whos in charge of everything now is....... Paul. Holmgren. Im glad I kinda lost interest in hockey. Because this team is going nowhere for as long as he still has anything to do with the team.
Has their ever been a team that had three separate 10-game losing streaks in the same season before?! Philly could reach that if they lose their next 4 games.
The Flyers the past few years look like the 2002-2008 New York Islanders. A mercenary squad that is usually somewhat in playoff contention but has no future beyond a young goaltender doing his best to drag them along until it all collapses
Finally! I've been waiting. So. Fkn. Long. For. This. As a Flyers fan, I dont care how much you rip on this dumptruck of a team, they're so fkn bad. Stuck in perpectual mediocrity while watching teams go from pretenders to contenders in the same time we stayed shitty. No real system in place, no direction, no identity no fkn hope. I'm hoping Giroux can cut the ties and go to a contender, its the best thing for him. With Fletcher and Scott, expect more of the same. "Agressive Retool", frig right off, this team needs to be stripped down to the wire and built back right.
Where to begin... Gostisbehere had the worst contract in the NHL. He'd put up a lot of points, but he was a turnstile on D. Risto was risk, and it didn't work, though his play is far better than his stats. Robert Hagg and a 1st really ain't that much. Swapping out Ghost for Risto is a move I'd do over and over again. Ellis playing 4 games all year crushed this team. They're a lot better with him. Provorov doesn't carry such a load, Risto gets fewer mins. Puck possession and gap control greatly improve. Flyers best player, Couturier, played hurt for 29 games, scored 6 goals and is now shut down. He's a top 10 all-around forward in the league, without him they're sunk. Hayes just got back, the PK will improve but it's too late. Konecny hit a wall: it looked like he was gonna be a perennial 30G guy, nope. Oskar looked like he was gonna be a stud, then cancer robbed him of his prime. JvR's contract was horrible, just like LeCavalier before it. He gets cut this summer. Hart is in danger of being ruined. For 20 years, top 1-5 picks by our rivals blossom into generational talents: Crosby, Ovi, Malkin, Tavares, Hughes, Backstrom, Lafrenie.... We got JvR and Nolan Patrick. Just brutal.
The only real hope for Philly sports are the Sixers, and even they will disappoint predictably at some point. It’s a Philly sports tradition as old as Philly sports itself
The flyers suck dong but your reasoning is off. The flyers biggest issue is they’re an old boys club at the very top. Fletcher is the first non flyer gm the teams had since the 80s. And when they get fired for being bad at their jobs they just get promoted to be “advisors” or “assistants”. They never leave. I’m a die hard flyers fan and even I think Bobby Clarke has zero right to be anywhere near the inner workings of a franchise. Fletcher to his credit did stuff people were asking for years. He shook it up. Basically he had the situation of it’s either the coaching, the roster, or development. He shook up the roster in the off-season. Sent out long time mainstays like Voracek and Ghost, and struggling prospects like Myers and Patrick. Risto was a reach but he was supposed to be a bottom pair d man with upside when everything started. The shakeup looked good for a bit but then didn’t. It wasn’t the players. So AV gets fired. He’s a dick. Yeo is a players coach. He’s a nice guy. They still suck. Not the coach. So now you look at how a team with a top 10 prospect pool for years has had zero stars develop and the kids they did develop fall off cliffs. There it is. Bobby Clarke, Kjell Samuelson, Paul Holmgren, all fingers in the pot. And who did they just hire as assistant GM? Former flyer Danny Briere. Ok. It’s never gonna end. Also get fucked yinzer. Crosby doesn’t suck because he’s not talented. Crosby is a generational superstar, of course he’s good. Crosby sucks because Crosby sucks. That’s all there is to it. Smooches
It's been absolutely horrendous, can't even watch anymore. Every time they took a step forward they took two steps back. I feel so bad for hart and none of our of young players have blossomed.
Daily reminder that the Flyers snapped the Sabres massive losing streak last season on national tv by getting blown out 6-1,thus officially ending any chances at the playoffs.

"And then a terrible thing happened...his name was Carter Hart."
Lmao that couldn't have aged better.
Amen brother!
I don't believe that either the organization or the fans have the patience for a proper rebuild. If the team isn't winning "right now", the fans start looking for someone to blame, usually the goalie (how long before everyone gives-up on Hart?), and management starts making excuses for the current failures.
Imagine Giroux going to the Pens
@@THE_bchat Oh I've seen the "Hart's a bust" talk already....I was speaking from an idealist perspective, I know it's something we'll never own up to that a rebuild may be necessary. The ruining of Carter Hart is just maybe one of the most infuriating things I’ve seen as a Philly fan

@@philly_sports1558 you got Brice Harper and won't win with him
The Flyers we the heavy favorites that year, after the Wings were swept in the '95 finals from the Devils, then a bone crushing loss to the Aves in the 96' Conference finals, people all thought they were flashy, but didn't have the Grit to finish the finals.
Anyway, everything that went right for the Flyers in the first three rounds went all wrong in the Finals:
Hextall and Snow gave up bad goals in every game
- The Yzerman goal in Game 1
- The Maltby goal in Game 2
- Shanahan and Lapointe's second goal in Game 3
- The Lidstrom goal in Game 4
A lot of key players were injured or playing hurt
The Wings were too fast, and the Flyers couldn't hit what they couldn't catch
The Wings practically out-hit the Flyers in every game (see the Konstantinov hit on Hawerchuk)
Only three Flyers combined to score all six of their teams' goals - Lindros (1), Brind'Amore (3), and Leclair (2).
Everyone thought that Finals was going to be Lindros' ascension into greatness and the Wings beat them in every aspect of the game. The Wings literally did exactly to the Flyers in '97 what the Devils did to the Wings in '95.
(: I remember when Detroit teams weren’t literally all bottom feeders :)
As a Flyers fan, all I have to say is this,
When Ed Snider owned the team, they were his baby.
There was also the story that the Flyers’ scouts wanted to draft Cale Makar 2nd overall in 2017, but Hextall overrode them and drafted Nolan Patrick.
Was Team Nolan that draft as a Devils fan. Feels awful seeing how hard injuries impacted his progress as a player he looked so fun in juniors
Hopefully he acts like a double agent and kills the Penguins too
oops
Or...
Hey, at least were competing rn. May the worst team win… the #1 overall pick 🤝😁

You can hardly call this amalgamation a team.
The problem with the Flyers is that they're owned by a corporate boardroom. That's who the GM answers to. When Snyder owned them they were always good, maybe not champions, but they were usually contenders. Now the interests of the team are the interests of the stockholders of Comcast/Universal.

@@THE_bchat most of those players you just listed are awful.
All I have to say, is I would be happy to watch Giroux win a cup with another team. At least then I'd have had a team to root for in the postseason.
I’m gonna do it with no remorse: the 2020 Flyers are in the same boat as the 1994 Expos. If the ‘vid never became exposed worldwide or was well contained once it left China, who knows what the Flyers could’ve done. We just had 2 previous cup champs at that time end legacies of failure, Philly could’ve been next to end their misery.
yeah i can agree with that. the flyers were on fire before the virus
Are you seriously blaming Hextall for this season? Fletcher has been GM for several years, this is his team now.
It just goes to show that the filters are just ... different. I mean if every NHL franchise was represented as kids in a classroom right now, either philly or buffalo are represented as the special kid.
THANK YOU. FINALLY someone brings up the shitty team I have to deal with.
You know it’s bad when this city is trusting the damn sixers the most right now… good god we’re screwed
They better win it this year. I don’t want to wait another 10-20 years for a title in this town again.
more pain for philly
Jesus Christ the fucking Sixers?
@@TheDragonsPit sadly yes. The second round heartbreak is imminent
When the Flyers hired AV, I knew it would be a short window to make some real noise. He was very good for a while on Broadway and the fire sale obviously wasn't his call but when it goes bad it goes quick. Another problem is this is a bear of a division and climbing out of the cellar is a big ask right now.
I don't think Crosby owns us because 2012, I think the true owner is themselves. The Flyers can't get out of their own damn way
That makes sense when you consider that the Philthy fans still cheer Crosby sucks when he's destroying them.
If I was the Flyer’s GM I would do as their basketball team did and blow it up to “Trust the Process”. This would generate around 4 years of sucking, but you actually have a chance to make a cup run in 6 years, unlike their current projectory.
Tree’s Flyers attitude from 2016/2017 to now went from “ahahahahahah!!!!” to just “I’m done with you scrubs, keep sucking but you guys don’t merit any of my time anymore.”
Ah, the ways of maturing as a sports fan.
Kieth Yandle rocking a -31 plus/minus I’d say he could use a little help on D.
I'm a die hard flyers fan and I've been waiting for this video for years
As a Flyers Fan Myself I Need a Laugh Here!
Has their ever been a team that had three separate 10-game losing streaks in the same season before?! Philly could reach that if they lose their next 4 games.
Orioles. But that's baseball, so I guess not
They'll beat the Wild next Thursday 😝
The Flyers the past few years look like the 2002-2008 New York Islanders. A mercenary squad that is usually somewhat in playoff contention but has no future beyond a young goaltender doing his best to drag them along until it all collapses
Or should we say… Mike Milbury’s Islanders
At least the Flyers didn’t trade a bunch of HOFers and Draft Picks for a win now approach however
Not a team an amalgamation. You can call Seattle a team before you say the same for Philly.
This was good. I really love the ones that incorporate multiple years of yuckyness. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻👍🏻
It's not easy being a Philadelphia sports fan.
*It's a thankless job...*
this video is the beginning of my villan arc lmao
in all seriousness i agree with every point you made. there is no hope, and i am depressed
Who's here after Ristolainen's massive extension 😂
They asked for it when they hired Doc Rivers. He’s good for the regular season but a massive choker in the playoffs
@@obijuanquenobi1911 Bump
Smooches
Using Bill Conti's score from Rocky here was a brilliant move. Great job Tree.
It's been absolutely horrendous, can't even watch anymore.
Every time they took a step forward they took two steps back.
I feel so bad for hart and none of our of young players have blossomed.
