I used to live in Knoxville and visited the cabin in 2010. It was really tough to find during the summer. There was much more of the fireplace there when I went.
Whoever owns these properties it always boggles my mind why they don't capitalize on the movie history they have and restore the area they have for fans/tourists to see. they could easily rebuild that cabin
The property owners have no interest in restoring the site, and years ago posted the numerous No Trespassing signs. Rob M.'s amazing Book of the Dead web-page features-among many others-an interview with them.
It is probably the cost of building the cabin, maintaining it, marketing the experience, insurance, tax, tour guides, cleaners, signage, lighting, health and safety, building a path to get there, parking, security. All of that is a huge headache (especially if you are not a horror fan to begin with), and might not actually be worth it financially if the numbers you expect don't show up. Then one day somebody says they were attacked by a haunted tree and sues YOU for half a million dollars because it happened on your property.
I hear what you’re saying, but I also understand why someone wouldn’t have any interest in that. I feel like one has to have a lot of time, energy and ambition to successfully pull that off. It definitely has the potential to be lucrative though!
I was able to visit the cabin location back in 2011 and acquired a brick from the fire place when it was still about 6ft tall. The following year I met Bruce at the Horror Hounds Convention in Louisville and was able to get it autographed. The only thing he said when I put it on the table was "You know you could've gotten shot right?" Lol. Great job on the video. You made a new subscriber today! \m/

the thing a lot of filmmakers don't realize is that each forest is its own character. if a new Evil Dead film was filmed in the original 1981 woods, it would add character to it. kinda like the last Blairwitch movie was just in some random forest, if it was in the original forest then it would have improved it. every forest is its own unique character and they shouldn't have "trees are trees" attitude.

I actually kept a piece of board from what was left and peice of the roof. Wonder if it be worth anything lol. Harrison Ford owns house/property there also and stays there once in a blue moon
Wow! Three videos in one week and all gold. This was a blast Sean. I like you thought the site would have been picked clean. One of my favorite HHG episodes ever! I was at the cabin site back in 2002, before it was posted everywhere on the internet which was in it's infancy and no smart phones where I could record my adventure there. My only regret, not taking a piece of the fireplace, which was much higher at that time and most of the tin roof was still intact. Great Job as always Sean, and also Travis. 👍

I have one of the chimney stones and some of the rusted metal roof is somewhere. We visited the site in early 2004, I'm Actually surprised they haven't bulldozed the woods and built houses. I'm only an hour away, may take a trip back out there.
Hard to believe that one of my favorite horror movies of all-time was filmed in the fall of 1979 (43 and a half years ago), 2 years after I was born and that seems ancient. My dad rented this movie from my local video store back in December 1983, when I was 6 years old. I rented Evil Dead II myself either in 1987 or early 1988 when I was 9 years old. This is so cool to see the filming location! I am in Myrtle Beach right now. I could drive to Morristown in no time at all.
Dude, I'm right beside Morristown right now and I'm feeling like a total asshole. I knew a girl that lived in Morristown during the time of the filming. We were both kids of about six years old at the time filming took place and we met in our teen years. As we watched the movie, she told me it was filmed near her house and she slipped away and watched some of the scenes being done. I basically told her that she was F.oS., because the movie labels didn't say anything about a Morristown TN filming location. I feel horrible.
Much dedication on your part Sean. The lengths we’ll go for the movies we love knows no bounds. The cabin location is definitely on my bucket list of locations to visit.

This is historical preservation at its finest. Love what you did with this episode, and how you managed to give us so much when there is in fact minimal evidence leftover from the production. You all did a fantastic job!!
One of my all time favorites. SO scary, and fun. This is amazing that you found it ! NO WAY, you have the Hellraiser 3 statue in your house. I LOVE that your passion is cruising the USA for horror movie sights and you make a living doing it. It is a bucket list dream of mine, yet your turned your dream into reality. 27:06 you can see they cut back the overgrowth in about a 20 foot wide path to see the mountain range behind the. I thought it's been 42 years, so maybe it's just overgrown, but I think it's a little of both, but clearly there were spots where the foliage was cut back.
This is incredible, Sean. You'd think everything that could already have possibly been said about Evil Dead locations has already been said, but WOW - so good! 😲
Took the fam a few years back to see it. We rented a cabin close by and I showed them the film. Then the next day visited this location! Definitely worth checking out!! Loved this video. Thank you!
I visited the cabin a few years back and took a stone from the chimney. I feel a little guilty about it now looking back, but I did have The Evil Dead logo painted on the center with dripping blood and it was signed by Ellen Sandweiss, Teresa Tilly and Bruce Campbell. Bruce wasn't super happy people keep taking the bricks so looking back I wish I had just grabbed a piece of roof instead, but Bruce undstood at the same time.
@JRay-zt3wb yeah I've seen pictures from almost 20 years ago and the chimney was so much bigger I didn't realize before I went how much people have taken. Almost wish I hadn't because I'd hate to see it completely gone one day because everybody wants one.
GROOOOVY!!! Oh my goodness, the apex episode of HHG that I've waited for my whole life!!! The BEST Horror's Hallowed Grounds EVER Thanks Sean! #SeanClarkGOAT #HHG ☠👺☠
I found this channel this morning and I must say this is pure gold. Perhaps the most comprehensive information package about filming locations on TH-cam.
WAY COOL! Can't believe people have not taken what was left of the stone fireplace. Probably didn't want to carry heavy fieldstone all the way back to their vehicles. I would have grabbed one.
Fantastic tour of the property. I visited in 2003, when there was more chimney, less digging, and remnants of a real moonshine still, coils and all, scattered all over. The owners of the property were super nice, let us visit all day and even park at their house and hike down the dirt road to take pictures and video. I'd heard the land got bought and developed since-- glad to see it's still there! Your vids are, again, fantastic!
Something I also found cool about the evil dead series is at the very beginning of the movie they are driving through Middlesboro,KY to get down to the cabin and you see a sign of it but that is the home place of Lee Majors who plays Brock Williams Ash Williams father in Ash vs Evil Dead which is about 45 minutes away from the location in Morristown
I used to live in Knoxville and visited the cabin in 2010. It was really tough to find during the summer. There was much more of the fireplace there when I went.
I had no clue there would be anything left in the wilds to track down. What great finds!! I would have totally snagged a fireplace pebble!
I'm glad you didn't say a piece of the roof, and only a pebble. That is respectful.
Whoever owns these properties it always boggles my mind why they don't capitalize on the movie history they have and restore the area they have for fans/tourists to see. they could easily rebuild that cabin
not everyone has a trading head and it also requires money

This is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE HORROR MOVIES. Thanks bro I love your location videos. LOVE THE ENDING!!
Now let’s get a Nightmare On ElmStreet 2 filming location………..
Great video....if I owned that land, I'd rebuild the cabin ...and charge admission
After a stressful week at work there’s nothing like coming home and watching a Sean Clark video!!! And this one was amazing!! Evil Dead is one of my favorites so hearing and seeing the inside info on the locations was awesome!!!!!!🙏🏽👍🎃🐈⬛☠️🧟♂️
Glad I make anyone’s day brighter. 🤘🏻🎃🤘🏻
Sean... this is classic hearing that opening music to this episode. FKN AWESOME . ✌🏼. Loved the ending super creative . You and Travis great job 🤘🏼
Thank you
Great video and great franchise.
Awesome final scene, well done! 😂
Great video !! Had no clue. It was filmed in Tennessee, but that makes sense straight up in the sticks I need to catch up on evil dead again.
You would think that as the movie was such a success they would keep and take good care of the cabin for fans to go inside and see.
This is historical preservation at its finest. Love what you did with this episode, and how you managed to give us so much when there is in fact minimal evidence leftover from the production. You all did a fantastic job!!
Thanks! I was nervous it would suck but it turned out great too.
I’ve watched a few videos on this location as I’m a fan of the films. This is the best I’ve watched. Thank you.
This is incredible, Sean. You'd think everything that could already have possibly been said about Evil Dead locations has already been said, but WOW - so good! 😲
You remind me of Sean Rogerson from the movie grave encounters.. and this series of filming locations kinda feels like it too! Very awesome!
I have no idea who or what that is but I’ll look into it.
You're awesome Sean. Thanks for what you do for us
Took the fam a few years back to see it. We rented a cabin close by and I showed them the film. Then the next day visited this location! Definitely worth checking out!! Loved this video. Thank you!
Oh man, DEADLYY. Let's goooo!!!
I took a brick as well and asked the ladies to sign it at a convention.
Same here, I've looked at the chimney stone almost everyday for the past 19 years. The chimney was much higher in 2004 than it is now😢
@JRay-zt3wb yeah I've seen pictures from almost 20 years ago and the chimney was so much bigger I didn't realize before I went how much people have taken. Almost wish I hadn't because I'd hate to see it completely gone one day because everybody wants one.
Great video just saw Bruce Campbell yesterday on his Bruce O Rama tour!
THAT was INCREDIBLE!!! thank you Sean and Travis!!
Love this video it popped up in my suggestions. Amazing historical video about evil dead
GROOOOVY!!! Oh my goodness, the apex episode of HHG that I've waited for my whole life!!! The BEST Horror's Hallowed Grounds EVER Thanks Sean! #SeanClarkGOAT #HHG ☠👺☠
Sean is the man. Thank you for all the good content over the years brother.
Nice job ! I watch this film in 80's here in Brazil.
And now go to Poltergeist House in Simmi Valley CA.
My favorite film.
I found this channel this morning and I must say this is pure gold. Perhaps the most comprehensive information package about filming locations on TH-cam.
Nice recreation shot at the end of the video 📹 😊😊
WAY COOL! Can't believe people have not taken what was left of the stone fireplace. Probably didn't want to carry heavy fieldstone all the way back to their vehicles. I would have grabbed one.
I've still got one and some of the rusted metal. Visited in early 2004 and the chimney was much higher. And yes, those stones aren't lite
I have dice made from the wood of the cabin. Best piece of Evil Dead history I own lol
How have you only got 36k... this is golden. Proud viewer for a while now, keep going mate x
Awesome video great content 👍
Love that movie so much! Def in my top 5 horror films! The part with the bridge, road and cabin is so good. Never seen any location videos for that!
Locate in Inman Bend Road - Tennesse
Something I also found cool about the evil dead series is at the very beginning of the movie they are driving through Middlesboro,KY to get down to the cabin and you see a sign of it but that is the home place of Lee Majors who plays Brock Williams Ash Williams father in Ash vs Evil Dead which is about 45 minutes away from the location in Morristown
This was awesome Sean! Thanks for sharing this video of an epic and legendary location and as always you did an amazing job, thank you. ✌🏻
Much appreciated.
So awesome! Not sure I’ll ever go visit that site. This is the next best thing!
