Eat'em & Smile was definitely the best post-1984 album by anyone in the Van Halen camp. Songs like Yankee Rose, Ladies Night in Buffalo, and Big Trouble are just fantastic songs

As much as I love Van Halen - both eras: DLR & Sammy â€Ķ Eat’Em & Smile was even better than 5150. And 5150 was great! It was like we had TWO VAN HALENS!

You know I really like Van Halen a hell of a lot more than Van Hagar, but I gotta say 5150 is a much much better album than eat em. Eat em had roth.. but his lyrical prowess was gone and he really adopted the simplistic formulaic bon Jovi glam stuff of the time. Made the album very forgettable, though I wouldn't mind classic rock radio giving it at least a little airtime as it at least deserves that.

Yes , love both of those albums. What if Vai hadn't gone to Whitesnake and Sheehan hadn't left to form Mr. Big.?

Eat em was formulaic bon jovi butt rock. Very forgettable. 5150 was really good, but id trade it for diver down in a heartbeat.
