    Van Halen barely even has 25 minutes of decent music from their entire 5 decades long catalog?…Ain’t Talkin Bout Love, Beautiful Girls, Panama, Janie’s Cryin & Unchained. & the rest of Van Halen’s work was underwhelming. All told, Van Halen never was in a league with bands with much more solid catalogs like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Doors, Black Sabbath, Rush, Creedance Clear Water Revival. Van Halen was like a mash up of ZZ Top & Aerosmith doing a bad impression of Heart, even Van Halen’s biggest fans only wanted to hear their old radio greatest hits from the late 70’s, that Van Halen milked for decades, where if Van Halen’s albums had been released in reverse order the band never even would have gotten famous? Van Halen came out the gates red hot all to melt down and fizzle out like a flash in the pan, before taking a synth pop soft rock direction. It’s glaringly obvious that EVH stagnated & suffered from severe writers block for decades, EVH shied back from the spotlight, & the double edged sword of fame, & never lived up to all the early hype & fame. Players like Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, SRV, Randy Rhoads, Jimmy Page, Tony Iommi, Mark Knopfler, Carlos Santana, John McLaughlin, Robbie Krieger, John Fogerty, Alex Lifeson got better & better as time went on, who deserve the vast majority of all the credit that has been misappropriated to Eddie Van Halen, ever since his passing…🤔

    Clapton loved Jimmy I think he was just exaggerating a little because he was so good not meaning to take away from.the band. Didn't Clapton give him a guitar for gift just because he liked Jimmy so much. Hendrix was not just a good guitar player but a humble person who loved music and people I think from the interviews I've seen.Its no wonder Eric would say nice things about Jimmy he was a great hippy type loving person that 100% real I think anyway. Imagine how great the world would be if everybody was like Jimmy Hendix no wars just Jams parties and lots of love 💗 ❤️ 💕 😅😅

    I think Noel ( nothing too fancy but solid with some decent improvising ) and Mitch ( now come on- Mitch was a great drummer) were perfect with Hendrix- Hendrix alone would definitely be good but I believe with the band the whole thing was great! Nothing like a solid rhythm section to back you up! And Hendrix music was like a new style to many of us- and the band stayed with him - it was a great band!

    My girl cousin saw Led in Atlanta when she was 16 in 75. She was super hot back then. She and her friend "got bored " after 3 hrs and went behind the stadium to catch a glimpse. Said an older lady,older to a 16 yr old anyway, was wearing a maxi coat. When Jimmy's limousine came by she opened her coat to display her naked wares. Jimmy rolled the window down, gave a thumbs up and said, "Shake it, baby!", and laughed. Always thought that was a cool story.

    Yeah, he could have hit the stage by himself, but I don't think it would have been the same...I don't discount how good that band was with both Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell...I've worked with various drummers, and I've heard comments from a particular drummer I play with on a regular basis when we've been in situations of having to use a sub bass player or auditioning for a bassist...if the bassist isn't really locked in with the drummer, it can be very distracting for the drummer...having to fight all night to maintain the grooves of the songs because the bass player and the drummer continually going in and out from being locked in with each other...I'm not a drummer, so I don't know what that particular type of frustration feels like from their perspective...regardless of what people say or don't say about Noel Redding, I don't think he would have even been in there from the get go if Mitch Mitchell and Jimi Hendrix didn't like his playing approach. There is something about a particular musical recipe that just ends up really working, where the "dish" being served, figuratively speaking, just really does it for a lot of people, and, IMO, these three men dished it out big time.

    Eddie came from a piano background and his father was an orchestra musician. Certain things were ingrained in him that most guitarists, at least in those days, didn't have. Eddie also began on the drums, he had a great sense of rhythm, an innate perspective of the WHOLE sound, not just his part in it. Sammy, in his book Red, said that he's still the best he's ever seen or played with. He mentioned that Eddie's sense of pocket while at the same time being able to play complex material was unlike anyone.

  • @aaronlovell6026
    @aaronlovell6026 วันที่ผ่านมา

    EVH didn't invent tapping, he did perfect it. EVH father was a jazz musician. And his father had a big influence on his piano playing. And in jazz you add notes that really don't fit, but somehow they belong. Eddie took that to the guitar. And a classically trained guitar player can listen to Eddie and point out the wrong notes, but can't tell you why they are wrong. Because they all seem to fit.

His use of straight major/minor diads and suspensions was lifted by Ratt, Dokken, Winger, and a myriad of others. Eighties music, particularly, sounds like it does BECAUSE of Edward Van Halen.

    Jimi obviously needed Mitch Mitchell enough to bring him back, after the short lived band of Gypsies’s disintegration. Although when he died Jimi was forming a band with Miles Davis, who had Tony Williams, Billy Cobham & Jack Desionette, some of the very best drummers of all time at his beck & call. & With his old army buddy Billy Cox on deck, Noel Redding was out of favor & was expendable on the Bass, & then Jimi wanted to bring in Paul McArtney to the band he was forming with Miles Davis, although Jimi wanted Paul to play rhythm guitar & sing…At some point, when he was established, Jimi could attract the very best musicians on the planet to join him, & it’s such a tragic shame, that Jimi died just before that had materialized…🎸

    He was certainly the king of tapping whether he invented it or not. His style overall was just plain fun for everyone to hear. I mean I can think of hundreds of guitar players that were better than him and if you didn’t care for him, that’s fine. But no one has ever or will ever sound like or play like him ever again. He was one of a kind.

  • @theariesexperiment4642

    No. Its how he overall views the final product. Alex said Ed would play something incredible on the bus, and Alex would freak out and say "thats incredible!!! We gotta use it!!". And Ed would say "Nah. Its just an exercise i do." Then,.... a year later, that exercise would become a lead. So Ed didn't necessarily construct pyro and smoke to match the musical vibe. He made the music match the the pyro and the vibe. He was very different.

    Already in 1979 Page was a washed-up has-been whose creativity was long gone! With "In Through the Out Door" it was blatantly obvious Led Zeppelin was done and finished !!!! Page was never much of a songwriter; from the earliest days of Led Zeppelin, Page blatantly ripped off other people's songs and credited himself with their works; Bert Jansch, Willie Dixon, Jake Holmes, and Anne Bredon are some of the people the odious Page ripped off ! Post Zeppelin, Page's work was bullshit so he monotonously regurgitated played out Zeppelin material over and over, and over again !!!!! People such as Ritchie Blackmore, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, and Robert Plant are in Page's age range and put out new albums with new material; even Jeff Beck was working before he passed. Page ? He's just a washed up relic from the past !
