The fact that he acknowledges how much people love these characters and stories makes me respect him very much. He has so much respect to the worlds his crew have created. I would totally trust him to do Toy Story 4.
I am watching this in 2017, and after seeing that last minute where he discussed how much he wanted Toy Story 2 to be great, it completely one-upped my confidence in how much effort he's putting into Toy Story 4.
Dude that last part about the little boy with the woody doll. Literally got me choked up. I was one of those little boys. I was 5 in ‘95 in theaters watching in wonder. I had a buzz, woody, slinky, Rex and a racecar. I accumulated them through various birthdays and christmases. I remember the day I accidentally pulled out woodys draw string. I was sitting on my bed. Cowboy wall paper, bed spread and theme in my bedroom, and I cried my little heart out. My mom recently got me a T-shirt that says “made in the 90s” with a cartoon buzz and woody on it. To this day, at 28 these movies have impacted my life and have a special place in my heart. I hope one day I’m lucky enough to watch them with my future children and share it with them. Thank you Disney, thank you Pixar, and thank you John Lasseter for making this little boys childhood magical.
I don't know for you, but Toy Story 2 is my favorite of the whole franchise. A proof that you can make a sequel as good as/or better than the original film.
***** Exactly! It was almost deleted in 1998 by accident and scraped when A Bugs Life was released only to be remade and compressed from january to october 1999.
Kiko Li Yes. One month before the European releasee of A Bugs Life Pixar and John Lasseter explained to Disney their wish to continue on the Toy Story 2 project for a theatrical release in November 1999. The Toy Story 2 plot we all know was re writen in just a week end an the final version of the film itself was finished in 9 month from january to october 1999. The most ambitious Pixar project imao.
This is the last Toy Story movie to feature every voice actor from the original one. Jim Varney who voiced Slinky Dog and Joe Ranft who was Lenny the toy binoculars and Wheezy the squeeze toy penguin died before Toy Story 3. So Pixar replaced Varney with Blake Clark who was a friend of his that sounds like him and Ranft's characters weren't used at all (except for flashback sequences when Andy was a kid but they don't speak). Toy Story 4 is being created right now and Don Rickles is dead now so there's no Mr. Potato Head RiP.
The news came in, Don Rickles' voice will be heard as Potato Head. Pixar will use the unused audio tracks Don did in the first 3 movies, video games, ice skating shows and theme parks in Toy Story 4.
Toy Story 5: The machines take possession interest in all of Humanities minds making them slowly forget Toys exist. Also An army of red light buzz's attack. Yes that's the plot concept of the next movie in few years. Can't wait see the next one is going play out. Since 4 wasn't good enough. And 3 was just one huge mistake. Let's go then. One more. Edit.
How to make a good sequel: “look back at the original film and respect every aspect of it.” If more movie directors followed this simple rule, then sequels would actually turn out better. But sadly, they see sequels as just an opportunity to make more money. Just look at how Disney handles sequels!
Well we will never know if the child recognized John. I wouldn't know the producers of "Rudolph" if they ran over me with a car in 1964. Still wouldn't!!! But John did remember the child! And it moved him so much it inspired him to make TS2 The best he could. Thanks kid! You unknowingly helped make Toy Story 2 what it became!
😂😭😌😊❤What he said At the end of this that was the most beautiful heartwarming story i've ever heard.who else really wish they were little again to relive their wonderful childhood where life had no difficulty I do
TheTrainStation Still, it did give audiences a good hint at the possibility of there being a third Toy Story movie that involved what would happen to Woody and the gang once Andy was on his way to college.
Toy Story 2 is my favourite from the Toy Story movies, while 1 and 3 are still great and also my favourites too, while liking 4 by itself (for different reasons which is mainly because of Bo peep returning and the toys riding in an rv), but mostly liking the franchise up to 3 now. While also liking all three of the cars movies (which are mainly my favourites from Pixar, I don’t care what people say about 2 with the spy cars, I thought it was great that the theme was irrelevant for once), a bug’s life, monsters inc, finding Nemo, the incredibles 1 and 2 and ratatouille. Also any of the toy characters in toy story (mainly around 2) that are my favourites are going to be Woody, Mr potato head, Mrs potato head, the robot, slinky dog, the aliens, Rex, Hamm, Jessie, Bo peep, Lenny the binoculars, evil emperor Zurg, stinky Pete, marionette Woody, barrel of monkeys, Buzz Lightyear, bullseye, rc the car, etch a sketch, little green army man and tour guide Barbie. Mostly because they have been part of the McDonald’s toys back in 1999 and I couldn’t decide which one was my favourite so I went with those ones.
What a very touching behind-the-scenes featurette. You know, one of my friends hates the fact that Lee Unkrich took over as full-time director for Toy Story 3. He describes Unkrich as the kid you leave in charge when the real boss isn't around, and he also refers to him as a schmuck face lol. What do you guys think of Lee Unkrich? Do you think he was right to direct Toy Story 3?
Daniella Cartwright actually the reason Lasseter is directing the fourth one is According to Lasseter, "Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie-and I wanted to direct it myself."
Toy Story 2 is 25 years old! This is another prime example of how to do a proper sequel Still one of my favorites to this day! The movie surpasses the original by many leaps and bounds; the computer animation is vastly improved being more stylish as well as fluid, colors are more saturated, the comedy is funnier, there’s more toys to enjoy, Randy Newman’s score always remains heartwarming, I even love how the roles are switched around with Buzz taking charge affecting Woody A hilarious portion involves Buzz facing his old persona There’s even a very emotional section of the film involving Jessie’s backstory explaining what happened to her It’s a dangerous world out there for a toy, how much longer can we truly last?, one more damage and the world is done with us what happens then?, how long will the bond between a child and a toy last?, life’s only worth living if you’re being loved by someone, what’s the thing to do for yourself and others?, what’s the more selfish/unselfish thing to do?, can we repair the broken? There’s such deeper emotional resonance next to the drama with this film’s story showing how things stay the same but others change so much Kids don’t stay kids forever and toys end up being forgotten and abandoned over time It’s all about dealing with the inevitable, what will ultimately happen at the end becoming disposable Lots of existential reflections on relevance and purpose are effective Heck you could even draw a Biblical reference from the Corinthians The writing is really great this time around with the dilemmas and I loved the vast amounts of merchandise even playing the N64 video game repeatedly The climax is also very exciting and intense The humor is also funnier despite some gaps in logic This was another bonafide hit with critics and the box office even leading to 2 more installments ‘Toy Story 2’ excels continuing the story providing many laughs being subversive/self aware, great emotional beats, and family entertainment The creators have done it again making a film that outdoes its predecessor in many respects
When you have a movie as big as Toy Story was, it was inevitable that a sequel was going to make a lot of money at the box office. Anticipation was going to be extremely high, when Toy Story 2 was released to movie theatres.
🎆🎆 It would be awesome if Toy Story 2 would never die like Toy Story and the other Pixar movies do as we know today, because it would be used as a great idea to encourage people of all ages to participate more often in character meet and greets at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. 👍🏼if you strongly agree.
I collect toys but I play with mine probably because I grew up with these movies and I feel scared of ditching them and feel bad I still have ones I got when I was younger
Griffin 2019 its was changed
He's not working on it anymore, unfortunately...
Toy Story 4 sucks. I miss Lasseter on the franchise. TS and TS 2 will always be the best.
It’s a difference in light years between the guys who created Toy Story and how Disney handled Star Wars
Dude that last part about the little boy with the woody doll. Literally got me choked up. I was one of those little boys. I was 5 in ‘95 in theaters watching in wonder. I am so into tears of seeing ending of John saying about a little boy and his Woody doll, and with music "When She Love Me" :')
That my hero 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
Pioukt
I grew up with this movie. ;-;
The Angry Fish didn’t we all?
Yes I did too I grew up with this awesome Studio😍😍😍😍😍😍😎😎😎😎👍👍😎😎👍😍😍😍😍
I don't know for you, but Toy Story 2 is my favorite of the whole franchise.

Exactly! It was almost deleted in 1998 by accident and scraped when A Bugs Life was released only to be remade and compressed from january to october 1999.
***** Jessie early concept in the original 1998 script was a character called Señorita Cactus.
oh my it was made in 9 months??? Dang thats insane! Props to Pixar man...
Kiko Li Yes. Tom Hanks & Tim Allen owns every smile of my chilhood! Can't wait for Toy Story 4
In Pixar, we trust.
This is the last Toy Story movie to feature every voice actor from the original one. Toy Story 4 is being created right now and Don Rickles is dead now so there's no Mr. Potato Head RiP.
@jvfunn3000 Oh okay and R. Lee Ermey who was Sarge the green army man is also dead (as I wrote my original comment a year earlier).
The news came in, Don Rickles' voice will be heard as Potato Head. Pixar will use the unused audio tracks Don did in the first 3 movies, video games, ice skating shows and theme parks in Toy Story 4.
Now John Lassiter is gone to! We'll see how TS4 works out.
Mr. Potato Head is in. Just like Paul Newman's Doc Hudson voice in Cars 3, they are using voice archives of Don Rickles never heard before.
Mark Wilson well John Lasetter isn’t dead. He’s just a pervert
0:38 Buzz: You... Are... A... Toy!!
Woody: That's *MY* line!
If the Cars epilogue featured a Toy Car Story 2, the Buzz Car would shout "You Are a Toy Car!" back to the Woody Car. March 13, 2020, 11:39pm
Toy Story: Buzz's midlife crisis
Toy Story 2: Woody's Midlife Crisis
Toy Story 3: Barbie's Relationship
This is extremely nuts 😂😂😂
Toy Story 4: Bo Peep's Relationship.
Toy Story: Buzz's *existential* crisis. It makes more sense.
Toy Story 4: Buzz and Jessie make love but Woody intervenes and the movie results to this: th-cam.com/video/TJnWKqAAFJM/w-d-xo.html
I'd rather say
Toy Story 3: EVERYONE'S midlife crisis
Toy Story 5: The machines take possession interest in all of Humanities minds making them slowly forget Toys exist.
Also An army of red light buzz's attack.
Yes that's the plot concept of the next movie in few years.
Can't wait see the next one is going play out. Since 4 wasn't good enough. And 3 was just one huge mistake. Let's go then. One more. Edit.
Stinky Pete: You really think Andy is going to take you to college
Me: have you seen toy story three? Oh right this is 11 years apart
How to make a good sequel: “look back at the original film and respect every aspect of it.” If more movie directors followed this simple rule, then sequels would actually turn out better. But sadly, they see sequels as just an opportunity to make more money. Just look at how Disney handles sequels!
Fr tho
Remember when someone accidentally wiped the entire Toy Story 2 Files in a server?
I let out a big "AWWW" at the end of the vidoe :,-) So cute!
6:52 all creators should take notes of this if to aim for a heartwarming movie or tv series for audience to love and respect
This here!,This is how you make a movie!
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen had reprised their voices of Woody and Buzz Lightyear in 4 Toy Story movies.
I wonder if the little boy remember seeing John Lasseter at the airport that day.
Lil Lord Akira 97 did he even see john?
Well we will never know if the child recognized John. I wouldn't know the producers of "Rudolph" if they ran over me with a car in 1964. Still wouldn't!!! But John did remember the child! And it moved him so much it inspired him to make TS2 The best he could.
Thanks kid! You unknowingly helped make Toy Story 2 what it became!
I like the way Andy just drops Buzz on the floor 4:32.
When one of the new characters becomes the third most popular character in the franchise, that’s how you know you’ve made a great character.
Everyone knows your name, WOOD-Y
-Jessie
Everyone Knows Your Name, WOOD-E
-Jessie
I watched toy story 1 as a kid, now i have a son of my own and show him these awesome movies. Even got his own Buzz lightyear.
THE PROSPECTER PREDICTED TOY STORY 3!!!!!!
This movie is a masterpiece.
That last scene man. Phew
John Lasseter is the man I'm trying to be.
😂😭😌😊❤What he said At the end of this that was the most beautiful heartwarming story i've ever heard.who else really wish they were little again to relive their wonderful childhood where life had no difficulty I do
The nightmare part just scared me as a kid
Same... and the elevator shaft, I was a bit of a crybaby 😂
4:53 Which set up Toy Story 3 indirectly, but perfectly!
And you know what? Woody then learned that he'll always be a part of Andy's life when he saw the picture of him and his toys.
4:17- 4:28 John has an awesome point
Toy story 3 and 4 are just about toys being forgotten and beaten up
Those two movies are the aftermath of being played with
And to think it was nearly deleted completely
And people are afraid of Toy Story 4.
+Sean Johnson (dragon fo eva) EXAAACTLY!! THAT'S what I always thought!!! :D
I am terrified!
+Daniella Cartwright No way. I love the screenwriters!
Sean Johnson I am afraid. Toy Story 3 was good, but unnesesary.
The second Toy Story wasn't "necessary" at the time either. Nothing is.
These films sum up my childhood
Glen McQueen was dancing at 1:07-1-09
RIP Glenn McQueen (1960-2002)
RIP Joe Ranft (1960-2005)
- Goodbye John Lasseter (1995-2017)
We didn't know back then that Woody was going to be going to college with Andy so stinky Pete was wrong about Andy not taking woody to college
TheTrainStation Still, it did give audiences a good hint at the possibility of there being a third Toy Story movie that involved what would happen to Woody and the gang once Andy was on his way to college.
0:00-0:31: This guy really gets it. That's how you make a great movie.
Best movies ever 😍😍😍
Toy story 2 is my favorite toy story film :)
2:08 - 2:17 Sounds like how *Boundary Break* got started.
0:53 Rip Glenn McQueen. 1960-2002.
I remember I was 5 when the movie came out and I got Woody and Buzz for Christmas 😊
Kobe Busia I think Lee Unkrich did a great job of directing Toy Story 3 all 3 films are classics both John and Lee did a great job.
I liked him, but I've heard a story that they're only making Toy Story 4 because John couldn't direct the 3rd.
Daniella Cartwright actually the reason Lasseter is directing the fourth one is According to Lasseter, "Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie. superjackster01 Yeah, I read that today.
toy story two: Woody's midlife crisis XD
this movie. So many good memories
Toy Story 2 is 25 years old!
This is another prime example of how to do a proper sequel
Still one of my favorites to this day!
The movie surpasses the original by many leaps and bounds; the computer animation is vastly improved being more stylish as well as fluid, colors are more saturated, the comedy is funnier, there’s more toys to enjoy, Randy Newman’s score always remains heartwarming, I even love how the roles are switched around with Buzz taking charge affecting Woody
A hilarious portion involves Buzz facing his old persona
There’s even a very emotional section of the film involving Jessie’s backstory explaining what happened to her
It’s a dangerous world out there for a toy, how much longer can we truly last?, one more damage and the world is done with us what happens then?, how long will the bond between a child and a toy last?, life’s only worth living if you’re being loved by someone, what’s the thing to do for yourself and others?, what’s the more selfish/unselfish thing to do?, can we repair the broken?
There’s such deeper emotional resonance next to the drama with this film’s story showing how things stay the same but others change so much
Kids don’t stay kids forever and toys end up being forgotten and abandoned over time
It’s all about dealing with the inevitable, what will ultimately happen at the end becoming disposable
Lots of existential reflections on relevance and purpose are effective
Heck you could even draw a Biblical reference from the Corinthians
The writing is really great this time around with the dilemmas and I loved the vast amounts of merchandise even playing the N64 video game repeatedly
The climax is also very exciting and intense
The humor is also funnier despite some gaps in logic
This was another bonafide hit with critics and the box office even leading to 2 more installments
‘Toy Story 2’ excels continuing the story providing many laughs being subversive/self aware, great emotional beats, and family entertainment
The creators have done it again making a film that outdoes its predecessor in many respects
GREAT MAKING OF TOY STORY II !!!!
Man, I love behind the scenes.
Sometimes I don't know if I'm gonna take woody to college . Not because I think I'll grow up but because what if I lose him?
Adults can have as many toys as they want. Just use them as decorations and play with them occasionally.
B
I Love This film
So do i👍👍👍👍👍
I grew up with toy story it’s one of my favorite movies
2:53
Oh look, it's the master
0:52 RIP Glenn McQueen
A fun movie for kids, but a deeply profound movie for adults.
Woody nightmare always make me sad
Spiro27 Oscar it use to scare me so bad as a kid
Always wondered if the airport kid ever saw this making of
They should put a video of the cast talking about their characters
See if a guy with this vision did the last Jedi, we’d have a good Star Wars movie.
I know. They had no respect for the world and characters that lived in it. And they ESPECIALLY Had no respect to the fans.
5:33 Yes! HE WAS!
Bravo!
John Lasseter reminds me of one of my Industrial Design professors at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
I started to tear up at 7:19
0:43 Tom Hanks Talk like Woody
When you have a movie as big as Toy Story was, it was inevitable that a sequel was going to make a lot of money at the box office. Anticipation was going to be extremely high, when Toy Story 2 was released to movie theatres.

Oh my, if I heard the song, I'll thinking.
anyone notice at 0.22 -ish, there is a book called "Tin Toy" (the original inspiration for toy story!!).....or am just watching too closely....
damn that story by the director in the end!!
3:33 Woody Dabs
It feels so weird to hear John Lasseter say “they love to come to daddy’s work” now :/
Why?
I use to watch toy story 2 on dvd when I was still Little Hallingbury Primary School kid age.
Stinky pete: you really think Andy is gonna take you to college?
Me: yeah actually i do
I still think my toys are alive
and I can't feel more sorry when I drop a toy.
Thanks For Everything John
I'm crying again.
Tim Allen had better glasses than the pair he wore when he did the first Toy Story.
Toy Story is a masterpiece.
Toy story 4 is the best movie ever
That is some serious copium.
Love it
Music:Randy Newman(1999)
1993
I collect toys but I play with mine probably because I grew up with these movies and I feel scared of ditching them and feel bad I still have ones I got when I was younger
Didn't they name Lightning McQueen after the guy at 0:52 ?
Cornflack sure did. He passed away from cancer a few years before the movie came out
Yep. They also dedicated Finding Nemo to him as he died during production of that film.
Glenn McQueen
yeah that day will be called toy story 3
0:39 You! Are! A! *TOY!!!!*
this is why toy story is a thing
Amazing
Anyone else play those old buzz lightyear video games? They were lit
when I grow up I am going to make my own toy story movie
RIP Glenn Mcqueen
I love that movie
I loved Toy Story 4
Zurg was cool in this
In my mind the story ended in 3. It was the perfect send off. But Disney got greedy and gave us the awful Toy Story 4.
Toy story 4 is exelleny now toy story 5 is in development
@@ironboywonder2766*excellent.
The game is just as good as the film very adventurous and emotional
Toy story 2 rocked the house
7:59-8:05
Didn’t he just say that was after Toy Story 2 came out?
Aw I love this movie even as a 19 year old ! Haha
you too!You want a work at pixar!!!
0:39 RIP headphone users
I Love Toy story in 1995 so Sid is part of Disney Villains And Toy story is on Walt Disney's world on ice and Disney on ice in years ago.
Fuck, the ending of this video got to me so hard.
I'm on a Making Of Disney movie train and I can't get off!! Help!!
1.2,4 are my first favorite and 3 is my 2nd favorite
All toy story movies except the third, relate to adult slants
Kinda funny that big Al is based off of John
