This is the only Book which tells us about the mistakes of the Prophets and sinful cities. My favourite is the Book of Job, as how God Tested him. This I found very interesting. The Bible is not a history book. It used chosen historical events to prove a point- the power of a monotheistic Creator of all and the long process of learning to live in a monotheistic rather modern society, with laws resembling much more advanced periods in modern history.

-Jesus never said to have faith blindly just based on feelings. God is reasonable. -God gives the Bible that we can see. God gives archeology discoveries to support the Bible that we can see. God gives us providential guidance through circumstances and supernatural miracles and protection and strange unexplained miracles and through other people that we can see evidence of God’s existence and love and guidance to base our faith on. -God said all those people who lived before Jesus 1st coming and all of us who lived after we cannot see Him in person. It doesn’t mean God doesn’t give evidence to base our faith on. -Those who lived in Jesus days on earth and saw Him in person also had to have evidence to have faith in Him. Jesus didn’t expect a fanatical religion to believe Him based on nothing. That’s why Jesus showed them Old Testament evidence and fulfilled predictions about His life. -Jesus saw through time past and future majority of us didn’t live in Jesus days. Jesus respected us not being able to see Him but still believe Him. It doesn’t mean Jesus didn’t give us evidence to know why we can trust Him. These evidences range from science facts, to historical archaeology, to logic and reasoning, to facts that prove the historical accuracy of the Bible and the resurrection of Jesus. Faith IS also based on evidence. Faith that is not is weaker.

Part of the divide between christianity and Judaism is that nominal christianity teaches Messiah did away with the Torah (Yahweh's instructions on living); His "birthday" was manmade to December 25 (birth of Mithras and others) which was impossible as the shepherds were in the fields and they would not be during the rainy season; did away with honoring the Shabbat, replacing it with a manmade worship of the sun on Sun-day; did away with His Father's (and ours) special times like Passover (replacing it with the worship of Astarte/Ishtar/Easter), Feast of Unleavened Bread, Feast of Weeks, Feast of Tabernacles; changed Yahweh's year to start in the dead of winter instead of in the spring; claimed a "new principle" (gnostic in nature) of "once saved, always saved" when even Paul was not assured of his salvation. the list goes on and on. When Messiah walked the earth, there were no "New Testament" letters so what did He and His disciples teach? The only scriptures they had available, the "Old Testament." And, yes, the Professor was correct that the early "christians" (which was a derogatory term when it was first used) were more "Jewish" than now. I think it would be better to say they were more practicing Israelites then than now despite it being said in 1 John 2:6, "He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked." Faith is not base on evidence, that is why the Lord Jesus said bless are those who believed even they don't see.
-Jesus never said to have faith blindly just based on feelings. God is reasonable.
-God gives the Bible that we can see. God gives archeology discoveries to support the Bible that we can see. God gives us providential guidance through circumstances and supernatural miracles and protection and strange unexplained miracles and through other people that we can see evidence of God’s existence and love and guidance to base our faith on.
-God said all those people who lived before Jesus 1st coming and all of us who lived after we cannot see Him in person. It doesn’t mean God doesn’t give evidence to base our faith on.
-Those who lived in Jesus days on earth and saw Him in person also had to have evidence to have faith in Him. Jesus didn’t expect a fanatical religion to believe Him based on nothing. That’s why Jesus showed them Old Testament evidence and fulfilled predictions about His life.
-Jesus saw through time past and future majority of us didn’t live in Jesus days. Jesus respected us not being able to see Him but still believe Him. It doesn’t mean Jesus didn’t give us evidence to know why we can trust Him. God does not expect a fanatical religion based on nothing and no evidence.

These evidences range from science facts, to historical archaeology, to logic and reasoning, to facts that prove the historical accuracy of the Bible and the resurrection of Jesus. Faith IS also based on evidence. Faith that is not is weaker.

One example is if one researching the history of Emperor Hadrian, they will learn he abolished God‘s sabbath day in 135 A.D. when he conquered Jerusalem and did what Hitler attempted. He performed the first holocaust, exterminating every Jew from the land and eradicating Sabbath worship.
It's marvelous how biblical records kept over time, in different dispensations, irrespective of several dire consequences and oppositions that says otherwise. To this day, realities based on undisputed facts and records beyond doubts evident.

Actually, if you break down to ancient Hebrew letters, the 1st prophecy found in the Bible is the 1st word of Genesis = beresheet (sp?), which translates to "In the beginning." There's a wonderful video on it that explains Messiah would be crucified for the sins of mankind.

14I haue written vnto you, fathers, because ye haue knowen him that is from the beginning. I haue written vnto you, young men, because yee are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and yee haue ouercome the wicked one.
15Loue not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loue the world, the loue of the Father is not in him.
16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof, but hee that doeth the will of God, abideth for euer.
18Little children, it is the last time: and as yee haue heard that Antichrist shall come, euen now are there many Antichrists, whereby wee know that it is the last time.
19They went out from vs, but they were not of vs: for if they had beene of vs, they would no doubt haue continued with vs: but they went out that they might be made manifest, that they were not all of vs.
20But ye haue an vnction from the holy One, and ye know all things.
21I haue not written vnto you, because yee know not the trueth: but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the trueth.
22Who is a lier, but hee that denieth that Iesus is the Christ? hee is Antichrist, that denyeth the Father, and the Sonne.
23Whosoeuer denieth the Sonne, the same hath not the Father: but he that acknowledgeth the Sonne, hath the Father also.
24Let that therefore abide in you which yee haue heard from the beginning: if that which ye haue heard from the beginning shall remaine in you, yee also shall continue in the Sonne, and in the Father.
25And this is the promise that hee hath promised vs, euen eternall life.
26These things haue I written vnto you, concerning them that seduce you.
27But the anointing which ye haue receiued of him, abideth in you: and yee need not that any man teach you: But, as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is trueth, and is no lye: and euen as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
28And now, little children, abide in him, that when hee shall appeare, wee may haue confidence, and not bee ashamed before him at his comming.
29If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that euery one which doeth righteousnesse, is borne of him.
