Thank You! I am doing this very project today!
That's great!!
Great video !! I didn't have any plastic wedges but I had a few packages of wooden door frame wedges that worked just fine. My old sink was a double, deep basin cast iron model, it took my wife and I every muscle we had to lift that thing out. I'm replacing it with a much lighter stainless steel sink. Thanks for the video.
Glad it was helpful!!
Thank you sir. I’m a woman and can’t afford to hire anyone and thanks to you I did it!!!
That's Awesome!! Good job.
GREAT VIDEO! It worked just like you said. Those wedges were definitely my buddy! Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Ooh, I loved this! I want to change out my drop in sink & I have quartz countertops. After watching this I'm wondering if me & hubby can just do it without me paying a plumber to do it. This seems so simple. Thanks!
Go for it!
Thanks for the video I did not need the wedges but the video helped me get the job done.
Great to hear!
Good stuff - thanks much!!!
Our pleasure!
Just used your method and it worked!
Glad it helped!

Glad it helped
Fantastic explanation. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
That worked great! Thanks 😅
Great to hear!
Does this work for laminate countertops also? I was told by a plumber that these countertops require a 'special tool' to ensure no damage is done to the countertop or they can shatter. We are removing an old quartz/acrylic Karran sink tomorrow and replacing it with the same size and configuration. It weighs 48 lbs and they used some type of pink adhesive, plus the clips to secure it in place. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Yes, The counter I removed it from was laminate. Go slow and it you see anything lifting, stop and cut the caulking. Good luck!
Very informative, thank you!
👍
Great tutorial!!! Thank you for sharing
You are so welcome!
Outstanding! Saved me @home, but I have a client who wants to re-use their cast iron apron sink; the demo crew removed with 2 quartz counter pieces on either side . I tried the same method but so far the adhesive underneath won't budge. Any suggestions to how to remove without damaging the sink? Thx!!
I think you will need something to soften the sealant like acetone or another product.
Multitool with scraper blade.
Are this plastic wedges available at a hardware store is are they a tool you found useful for yourself?
I got them at Home Depot. Most stores have them. Should be right by the wood shims.
Thanks for the help!
Happy to help!
Thank you.😊😊
You're welcome 😊
We are trying to do this with our sink, but we have a granite countertop. Do you still think this will work?
Yes. Take you time and it will work out fine.
How did you cut the silicone sealant between the back of the sink and the wall?
I just used painters tool and wedged it back along the seam and the sink. It is tricky, just take your time.
Thank you
👍
Thank you great video
Glad it was helpful!
I have a 5 and 1 tool instead of the 7. Should that work? Thanks.
That will work.
Thank you!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching
Okay. Guys I have a big question. I have some work that needs to be done in my bathroom. It's cosmetic. But I could really use some help with someone pointing me in the right direction!! Is there any way I could show you some pictures? And then you could, like I said, point me in the right direction? I'm one of your subscribers, and I really want to do this myself, but with guidence. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
Of course! Our email is diyonthehouse@gmail.com - send them over and we can see if we can help!
Where do I get the plastic wedges
They are plastic shims, they are in the door department at the hardware store.
GREAT Tip - use the shims!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome! Where can you find those wedges? Would wooden shims work?
I got the wedges at Home Depot and wood will work. I like the plastic ones though, because I use them for other things as well.
What happened to the sink clips underneath?
We reused the clips from the sink when it was removed.
@@DIYOnTheHouse Did you have to unscrew the clips?
Where is the disconnect the plumbing info ?
This is just a video on sink removal. I don't have one for plumbing disconnect.
How do I remove the clips
underneath the sink, around the edges you should see some metal clips. There should be a place to unscrew them with a flat blade screw driver, When they are loose, slide them to the end and they will drop out.
imagine if you can replacing an under mount kitchen sink that is between the plywood base and the granite counter top without damaging anything or end up needing to replace the granite 🤯
Oh granite -- that is a tricky one!! As plumbers we refer those jobs to the granite guys!!
Many newer sinks require the removal of clamps from below the sink. These squeeze the sink to the countertop. Then just push up from the bottom to easily break the seals. Easy Peezy.
Thanks
Where can I get the wedges
Any hardware store. They will be plastic shims.
